BEFORE: Ali Landry hasn't officially retired from the ring yet allthough being a member of Tractorpull's Hall Of Fame certainly allows the pundits and fans to judge her career as a complete project. On the other hand Paula Patton continues to ride the late-blooming career success and only few weeks removed from taking down the Pete Rose of FCBA, Gena Lee Nolin, she's ready to face one of the most decorated fighters that have ever graced this universe.
Paula Patton wears a black one-piece swimsuit and orange gloves. Long black hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Ali Landry wears a turquoise bikini set and black gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a high ponytail.The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.
Round 1:
Paula shows plenty of respect to the Hall Of Famer early on and allows Ali to thrive on a rangy jabbing supply that forces the younger actress into a hectic retreat once a vicious strike finds the lips ad throws Patton off her comfort zone. Landry's determined to prove that those calls for her official retirement are somewhat premature and sticks more point-blank range punches up the middle, clipping both the jugs & Patton's chin in the proccess. Paula responds well over the top and prevents getting reeled into the ropes but her aerial counter meets a stubborn defense as Ali's not the fastest girl across the boards anymore but stands her ground and outworks the fellow brunette in a high-tempo jabbing exchange that raises few eyebrows around the Garden. This is round one though so don't expect this tempo to linger on much but that's as good opener for Landry as anyone could have hoped for.
Round 2:
Patton becomes much quicker on her feet now as she abandons the idea of another close range dust-up and forces Landry into a fruitless jabbing pursuit that finds little success and allows the younger actress to channel the counterpunching drill instead. The aerial attack crashes into Ali's temples from both side and staggers her in the center of the ring before a well measured uppercut snaps the head and drops Landry onto her heels. Paula sends immediate jabbing follow up to secure a good connection with the cheeks and Ali's thinking about a clinchings stalemate already but she's whooped to the tummy regardless and basically enables her foe to bulldoze her into the ropes where Patton dominates the final minute with more midriff-slicing strikes. Ali suddenly looks extremely vulnerable while soaking up so much pressure and her punching resistance is nowhere near the Hall Of Fame level at this stage.
Round 3:
Landry lands an early hooking combo that squashes her opponent's lips but fails to deliver a proper follow up and gets muscled away into mid range by a slightly annoyed Patton. Both women loop single hand assault thereafter until Ali blinks first again and launches a body assault that catches Paula off guard a little. This time the 'Warcraft' actress has to yield real estate and gets stacked on the ropes as Ali desperately tries to dissect her liver area in an otherwise chaotic push for glory. The wrestling along the ropes lingers on until the final minute and while the older brunette lands more strikes in this phone booth-like exchange, she doesn't really hurt Patton and eats a late uppercut on the jaw herself as Paula recovers from a difficult period well and throws more aerial leather once Ali steps back to milk the clock.
Round 4:
Patton enforces another close range stanza and clatters into Landry's boobs with a double uppercut drive before blasting her foe on the ear with a vicious left hook. Ugh! Ali's legs buckle for a moment and she wobbles into a chin-busting uppercut which folds her guard and allows Paula to WHACK her with another left hook on the brow ridge... Oi, Ali! The Hall Of Famer winces in shock but suddenly realizes the force of gravity is about to take over... And Patton's quick enough to land another monster hook on the nose THAT SENDS LANDRY CRASHING DOWN ON HER BACK!!! That was an elite drive to open this round and most of the Madison Square Gaden audience is stunned by the instant departure of such a prolific fighter like Landry! The Hall Of Famer tries to sit up but stares down at the referee's feet and looks to be badly rattled badly by the injection of Patton's fury. She slumps down on her elbow when she just doesn't find the strenght to fend off the looming disaster blaze and rolls into embrional position when the merciless count reaches ten! Is this a genuine upset or just the final nail in Landry's FCBA coffin? KO4 Paula Patton!!!
AFTER: This is a stunning result even considering the circumstances; Paula might be riding a late-career hot streak but you just don't deck a Hall Of Famer like that, do you? Some trigger-happy pundits believe that Ali's set to join the likes of Jessica Alba and Jaime Pressly as FCBA's official "has been" material but one woman's loss is another's gain and Patton isn't scheduled to fade away into the distance anytime soon despite the fresh inlfux of talent north side of 130 lbs. Girls like Tahnee Atkinson or Karlie Kloss should be best advised to watch their backs because this cougar aims to keep spoiling the divisional odds one way or another!
