Adriana Lima vs. Taylor Cole

BEFORE:
 
Intriguing big girl matchup features Adriana, one of the top models in the FCBA, a two-time Ice Hotel queen and the current Mistress of the Body Saddle against Cole, who's a four-time champion in two divisions. 

"This is a warm up for me," says Adriana with a smile. "I've got a big fight coming up New Year's Day against Lively, and I need to get some rounds in."

"She needs to get rounds in, does she," asks an enraged Taylor. "I'm here as a stay busy? The only person who's going to be busy tonight is the guy counting the knockdowns, because I'm going to beat her up before I finish her off!"

ROUND ONE:
 
Cole after Lima early. Adriana's little head game, if that's what it was, has paid off. She's got Cole hunting bear, but it's deer season. Lima moving, jabbing, staying at range, making Cole work to close and bang. Cole's corner wants her at gunnery range, but the Texan isn't having any. She wants to bring the hurt. Only, she can't find the address. Adriana's not dancing, mind. That's not her game. She's not even giving it the jab and circle. Instead, it's tactical maneuver, staying off square, playing the geometry, not allowing Cole to get the range. Taylor's missing, being picked off, or landing glancing stuff. Lima, for her part, isn't throwing much, bu she's landing more and better shot. It's not impressive, perhaps, but it works. As the round winds down, Cole settles down. Sets up at range like her corner wants, begins finding the target. But, it's too late to save the round, which goes to Lima close.

ROUND TWO:

NOW we're where we thought we'd be. It's gun platform stuff from the two rangy beauties. And, Taylor immediately begins getting the better of it. Lima can hit, of course, and she has the victims to prove it. But, Cole's another matter. This is a girl with welter power who's proven it by holding the welter gold. Adriana's not going to win any power punching contests against Taylor, and, that becomes pretty obvious quickly, as Lima finds herself backed up several times within the first half of the round. Then, it gets worse. At the 1:40 mark, Cole lands a nasty right hand and ADRIANA'S HURT! Lima steppin' in fence post holes as Cole comes forward again, this time easily finding a wobbly, stationary target. Lima covers up, gives ground, ends up on the ropes, where Cole unloads the heavy guns on her. Adriana shaken again and again. Referee looking in closely, not liking what he's seeing. But the model hangs on to survive the round. Taylor, though, wins it wide to even things at 19.

ROUND THREE: 

Cole on a roll. Taylor's got Adriana on the run and she's determined to keep her there. Texan not quite going all in, but she's not holding much back. She's tossing flurry after flurry of heavy leather at the supermodel, and Lima's wilting under the weight of the fire. She can't hold canvas, she can't get much done offensively, and, in the end, she can't stay off the ropes. Taylor works her there about half way through the round, pins her, and then batters her unmercifully. Referee looking in closely as Lima's taking and not doing much more. Finally, hearing shouts of "Counter!" from her corner, Lima begins to do same, and probably none too soon. Still, it's Cole in control, roughing up her fellow brunette, digging a little body here and there, but mostly working upstairs, looking to finish. Adriana manages to deny Taylor that, but not much more. Lima's standing when the round is over, but it's Cole wide again and Taylor now leads 29-28.

ROUND FOUR: 

Cole looking more than a little gassed. She's drained quite a bit of the tank the last two rounds, and she needs a little time to fuel back up. For her part, Adriana's still wobbly and looking plenty scuffed. Result is, not much happens early. Both fighters doing a little jabbing, but not much more. Nobody putting punches together. Nobody moving. It's deliberate stuff, as everybody, including the crowd, seems to be taking a breath. About half way through, things pick up a bit, but not much. Lima seems to be shaking off the damage of the second and third and Cole seems to be getting a little wind. But, neither has enough to get rolling, to get in any kind of rhythm. Instead, it's one punch stuff on both sides, and mostly ineffective stuff at that. In the final seconds, both brunettes try to put together a rally and steal the round, but that smart, veteran move doesn't work. Neither can create separation and the fourth comes back even, leaving Cole up 39-38.

ROUND FIVE: 

Fighters looking mostly recovered now. Feet moving again. Work rate rising. It's back to range and back to gun platform stuff. Lima angling. Showing the legs are mostly back. Cole playing the geometric game, trying to square the model up and land more of that heavy leather that's been so effective to this point. Adriana getting rolling early, putting together some of her best flurries since the first round. Cole, however, rallies in the last minute, getting solid shot on several times, backing Lima up, forcing her to cover. Adriana again unable to hold canvas, despite her best efforts. Lima scores some in the counter, but it's back foot stuff that doesn't exactly trouble Taylor, who's got the range and is loading up the heavy guns again. By the end of the round, Cole's in control. She's made up the early deficit plus and she grabs the round close to take a 49-47 lead at the halfway point.

ROUND SIX:

Cole coming forward again now. Taylor's got it going. She's got control. And, she's determined to keep it. It starts with a good, accurate left for the Texan. When she gets that on, she can follow with hard right hands. And, it's the rights that are doing the damage, and, again, forcing the model out of her defenses. Adriana's gamely trying to hold her ground, but she can't do it. Weight of Taylor's shot is too much. Again, Lima finds herself countering, but, again, it's off the back foot. Cole's in firm control. And, then, she isn't. Adriana, still in retreat, manages to get her feet set just in time for a perfectly-placed right hand counter and Taylor's HURT! Cole wobbles and nearly goes down and Lima switches to the offensive immediately. Model throws a blizzard of leather at the Texan and DOWN GOES COLE! Taylor noses in at Lima's feet. Adriana quickly to a neutral corner. Referee counts as Cole pushes up to her hands and knees...then sinks back down to the canvas! It's over! And your winner by KO6 is Adriana Lima!

AFTER:

"Blake Lively!" Lima shouts in the post-fight. "I'm coming for YOU, Blake Lively! New Year's Day! Body paint! Blake Lively! You're MINE, Blake Lively!" on and on like that. New Year's Day is looking like being a lot of fun.
