TESS VALMORE

Once again It’s time for our much maligned Top Ten Lightweights and Welters. My rankings require a fighter to fight at least every three PPVs or ninety days which ever is longer. I will not permit a fighter to sit on a top ten ranking by not getting into the ring, I also put great emphasis on competition. A 55% win ratio against competition that are frequent and winning fighters is better than a long winning streak against the Kristen Stewart Method of Competition. (Sorry Wiz)  I expect my friends as Boxing World will have a very different top ten since they don’t use an activity rule. This was a more challenging effort than most due to large number of fighters leaving the top ten rankings

TOP TEN LIGHTWEIGHTS

This periods lightweight rankings have undergone an unprecedented change. An usually high number of ranked fighters haven’t fought during the required time. Some of the fighters that appear in the rankings will most probably be there only a short time until the elite members get back into competition.

1 GEMMA ARTERTON Often the champ is not the number one lightweight. This time she is,  after beating Yustman and taking the title from Lively

2. BLAKE LIVELY. Lost the title to Arterton in October PPV. Drops to two

3. MIRANDA KERR. Has won six of her seven bouts with wins over Yustman, Decker and Nichols. Her last bout was in the October

4. SERINDA SWAN is on a nine fight win streak. Won Ice Hotel title in September and has successfully defended it twice. Fought in the November PPV

5 TAYLOR SWIFT By far the most active fighter in the FCBA proving to critics that the 100 fight requirement to the Hall Of Fame is can still be reached. She has won thirteen of fifteen fights this year, beating Azaela in November

6. ADRIANA LIMA Has won five of seven this year after her KO of the tough Taylor Cole in the November PPV

7 ODETTE YUSTMAN She is normally in the top three of four, but is having a little trouble this year losing three of five. I have little doubt that she will soon be back in the top three or four. She last fought In September  Needs to fight by the end of the year

8 ANNA TORV. Had dropped out because inactivity. She’s back in, beating Driver at the October Asylum.    Her competition is certainly not the best, but at least she is fighting

9 JENNIFER LAWRENCE Breaks in after a long absence. She five and two this year, but four of those fights were at JMDD. She won all of her conventional fights.    She fought in the November PPV

10 DANIELA RUAH Has won six of her last seven, but was upset by Gonzalez at the October Asylum

ON THE CUSP

KALEY CUOCO Dropped out because of inactivity. Her October bout was at JMDD

ALEXIS REN She’s listed as a bantam/lightweight. She is 5-0 and has fought in both weights. I will put her at lightweight until she settles into one division

LUISANA LOPILATO Exactly the same situation as Ren. I will bid my time

WHO DROPPED OUT BECAUSE IN ACTIVITY

KATY PERRY #3

MISSY PEREGRYM #4

YVONNE STRAHOVSKI #5

MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD #6

BROOKLYN DECKER #7

TOP TEN WELTERS

I am finally seeing signs of a rejuvenation in the welters as three rookies crack the top ten. More young fighters are out there. I hope that some will step up and become active

1 AMANDA RIGHTETTI Is 5-1 for the year. Lost the title to Upton in an upset in September,  but bounced back with a win over Loken in the October PPV

2 KATE UPTON She’s the current champ Has an 8-1 record for the year. Five of those bouts were at JMDD. Conventional competition is not particularly strong

3 BRIDGET REGAN Won three of four. Only loss was to Righetti. KOed Law in the October PPV

4 GEMMA ATKINSON She last fought in September. Needs to fight before the end of the year.  Stays a four

5 CASSIDY FREEMAN Had dropped out because on inactivity. Back in the rankings on her KO on Romjin in a November ESPN special

6 PAULA PATTON Has won three of five against decent competition. Last fought in the November ESPN special

7 MICHELLE RYAN She’s 4-0 this year after KOing Lancaster in the October PPV.   Also has wins over Romjin and Henstridge

8 KARLIE KLOSS A rookie who is now 5-0 after KOIng Bjorlin in the November PPV

9 HILARY RHODA A promising rookie who made short work of Loken in the November PPV.   She is 3-0 for the year

10 HANNAH FERGUSON Another rookie who is 3-0 for the year after KOing Moore in the November PPV
