(Free Agent vs Free Agent)
Intro: This is a rematch from several weeks ago as Jessica Grace Smith gets her chance to even the score against Jenna Rosenow. The original fight was a beach bout and the fight was stopped due to a bad cut above the eye of Jessica, whose eye had swollen shut as well to add to her misery. But the two fighters had become close and Jenna wanted to give Jessica a rematch, even as her other friends begged her to ignore Jessica and focus on fighting other girls.
But she was damned that she wanted this rematch to happen and at a press event before the fight, both women met on stage and exchanged peck like kisses to the others cheeks before embracing. Having a quick chat with each other, organisers had to tell the ladies that they had to promote the fight now or leave as they couldn't wait any longer to start. Both pretended they were going to leave the stage before laughing and going to their seats on stage. After introductions and a quick speech off the organiser about the event, Jessica was asked to speak first. Smiling she begins by saying "wow I never thought I'd be fighting in Sydney so soon in my career and that me and Jenna would be here together" Turning to Jenna, she adds "Jenna, it's funny how life works, we'd known of each other awhile but we had never spoken face to face till we actually fought, now we've been planning double dates, gym sessions together, even what spa we'll go to if we can after this fight" Jessica starts to look serious as she finishes "while we are great friends, I know you're as competitive as me, so we will do what we must in the ring and I will be trying to prove that I am the better boxer babe, good luck Rose" Jessica goes back to her seat as Jenna claps her friend and the two can't hide smiling at each other as Rosenow goes to the podium. Jenna begins her speech by saying "I have to start by saying that when I think back to our first fight, whatever happens in my boxing career, I don't think I'll be as stunned as when you told the ref you hadn't knocked me down when he was about to count" Laughing; she continues by saying "I was ready to get into that referees face and tell him what an idiot he was but you made me speechless, I was ready to hug you then but we had to fight and it's why I gave her this rematch so readily when others may have simply walked away and broken a promise" Stepping over to Jessica, the air seems to cool slightly as Jenna finishes with "I promise we'll do everything we planned but first I have to prove I didn't fluke our first fight, I promise to kick your ass Jessica" Journalists edge closer expecting a slap or even a full blown catfight, instead the fighters stand face to face, looking serious at each other before they nod and look sad for the first time since they went on stage. Their friendship has to be put on hold till they find out who the better boxer truly is between them.
Fight night in Sydney, Jessica is out first in a black and white striped bra and tight workout shorts, she has black gloves and shoes to complete her look as she seems to be celebrating her country of New Zealand, which isn't overly popular in Australia. She climbs into the ring and does a quick lap of the ring with her right fist pumping to the crowd, before she warms up in her corner. Out comes Jenna now, she is wearing a green sports bra and tight workout shorts with yellow boots and gloves, evidently to show her heritage as a proud Aussie. She does a lap around the ring, waving for the crowd to stand up and cheer as the volume is deafening in the arena. Jenna climbs into the ring and begins her warm up as both women's eyes meet from across the ring and they try to read each others emotions. Getting their gumshields in, the ref asks them to come to the ring centre for his final instructions. As he is saying them, both women give each other a warm smile as they can't help it. But as they are asked to touch gloves, they seem to find the switch to get themselves into their fight modes, their faces turn serious and they touch gloves before returning to their corners. 10 rounds of bantamweight action begins now.
Round 1: Out come the fighters and there isn't much of a feeling out process this time as Jessica is the aggressor as she learned quickly that she can't stand back against Jenna and let the Neighbours babe dictate the action. Jenna is trying to fight on the front foot but fighting on the beach seems to be more her home as she is being pressed backwards, which didn't happen as much in the first fight. Jenna tries to fight fire with fire but gets caught with a hard hook to the chin that wobbles her and up to now it's been a disaster for her. Being forced to clinch already, Jenna looks pissed at herself for the way she's started as the two friends grapple in the clinch but when ordered to break, they slowly back away from each other and nod to the other. Back they go but now Jenna has her footwork working and is quickly salvaging the round with digging jabs to the face of Jessica. The round ends with Jenna looking on top after a shaky start had her looking in danger.
Round 2: Jenna starts off much quicker this time as she tries to control the fight with her movements. But unlike the first fight, Jessica seems to have a better gasp of how to shut down Jenna and shoves her way into her opponent to force Jenna to stand and fight. The change of scenery is definitely having an effect as Jenna can't simply escape from these bruised exchanges like she did on the beach, as this ring has ropes while the one on the beach didn't. Jenna clinches up to stop herself being hurt and the two nearly grapple out the ring as they look to pin each other to the ropes. The ref has to help them apart and the fighters touch gloves as a way to say sorry before going back to fight. The crowd are all on Jenna's side but she is being bullied around the ring by the strength of Jessica. The bell rings and both women seem to be gauging how they can win this fight as seconds work on them and give them advice.
Round 3: Again Jenna tries to come out quickly but gets tagged with some vicious straight punches that snap her head back. Jessica is on her like a heat seeking missle as she pounds two hooks into the cheeks of Jenna causing her opponent to go down. Jessica races to a neutral corner as Jenna is sitting on her bum, looking shocked that she is down so early. It takes her to the count of 6 to realise she's been counted out before she pushes her way up to her feet. The crowd cheer as Jenna is checked over and bangs her gloves before waving Jessica on. The Kiwi smiles at her friend and nods as she comes forward to try and finish the job. But Jenna has the presence of mind to hang back and counter punch when needed to defend herself. It seems to be working as she ducks a few reckless hooks from Jessica to pound away to the body. But her legs are still shaky and her head is still not working fully so she is getting tagged by some vicious straights that rattle her backwards. The ref is watching closely, Jenna is just doing enough to survive though as Jessica is too emotional trying to get this win that she doesn't time her punches and is becoming sloppy. The bell rings and Jenna can be heard clearly sighing in relief as Jessica punches the top turnbuckle in her corner in frustration.
Round 4: Jenna's corner has done all it can to revive her for this round, it's up to her now to get back into this fight. Jessica doesn't race across the ring as she tries to pick her moment to strike instead of her bullrush tactics at the end of the last round. Jenna is jabbing and moving, trying to find a way to turn this fight back into her favour. But she's got her left hand low and Jessica pounces with a hard right hook to her opponents cheek to rattle her. A hard straight bangs Jenna to the ropes and another hard hook to the chin of Rosenow seems to switch her off as she goes down in a heap, her eyes closed and Jessica looms scared as she goes to help her friend. But the ref who knows she isn't going to do any harm but has to follow the rules, holds Jessica back before he can go check on Jenna. He rules that she is clean out and waves the fight off as medics dive into the ring to check she's OK.
Winner: Jessica Grace Smith KO Round 4
After: Jessica is straight into the face of the ref shouting "why the F*** did you hold me back!" As her emotions control her. He calmly replies "one it's procedure as I can't let fighters dive on their opponents even if like you I know you were not going to hurt her and two, she needed the first aiders, not you hugging her, she'll be OK" Jessica nods as she knows he is right but while she could put their friendship aside in the fight, she can't now it's done and she's knocked Jenna clean out. First aiders bring Jenna around and give her some oxygen but their tests show she should be fine with some care. Jessica has her gloves taken off and goes to Jenna's side all apologetic over what's happened Jenna smiles after she gets the oxygen mask off and says "babe stop crying, we knew what we had to do and I'm happy the better woman won, so smile" Jessica looks stunned that Jenna can smile and even give her a talking to as she wipes some tears away. "Babe I can't fight you again, no matter what" says Jessica ready to cry again as Jenna grabs her hand. Jenna replies "don't say that, if you win the bantamweight title, I'll want a shot and I want you to give me your all like our first two fights OK?" Jessica looks ready to shake her head and even walk away but Jenna holds her hand even tighter and it seems to be the message to get Jess to understand that she had to do this. "Well I expect the same if you ever become champion" says Jessica with a small smile she can muster. Jenna replies "hey I gave you one rematch, it's your turn" she pouts as Jessica begins to laugh and helps her friend up to a cheer from the crowd. Helping Jenna out the ring, the two friends go back to just being that, the fight is over and it's back to doing what they do before they each get a new opponent to fight but they are discussing beginning to spar together as they walk up the ramp with wide smiles on their faces.
