Roselyn Sanchez vs Denise Richards (0-2 vs 34-48-2, 21 KO) Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: Roselyn Sanchez failed to channel her Puerto Rican temper since making a late bow to the FCBA league earlier this year which fellow veterans Eva Mendes and Meghan Markle brutally exposed along the way. And things don't get much easier for the Latin babe as she hopes to end her lousy streak against Illionois' very own Denise Richards, hardly a Hall Of Fame candidate in true boxing terms but someone who can easily pour more dirt on the embattled brunette. Fighting off significant rust should be Denise's main problem tonight according to the odds as she hasn't graced the ring since August 2014 but remains an elite name to fill out any PPV schedule even if a certain reporter from Nashville indicates that the loser of tonight's contest should hang up her gloves for good.
Roselyn Sanchez wears a red & white vertical striped bikini and blue gloves. Black hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Denise Richards wears a light blue bikini set and white gloves. Light brown hair tied in a high ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1: Back & forth stuff early in the going as both cougars show plenty of juice which wasn't exactly the intended script for most of the pundits. Denise's experience tells her she needs to put the hammer down on Roselyn's throat as quickly as possible because that lack of success on her resume is more destined to cause trouble rather than dismay. And Sanchez really wants to get in the winner's column sooner rather than later and hassles the older woman from both flanks finding steady connection upstairs. Denise has been through it all herself though and picks the brunette off with similar venom before wobbling Roselyn back to the ropes due to a nasty hook piercing the chin. Ugh! Roselyn just never saw that coming and is fortunate enough the bell spares her looming punishment with Richards all over her along the ropes.
Round 2: Head hunting galore dominates the opening minute and Denise's eyes lit up when she cracks another fancy hook on the chin. "Got some glass there, bytch?", she shouts at the subdued Latina and the old demons are alive and well in the Sanchez corner as she gets mugged to the ropes and disappears behind a high earmuff which enables Richards to pick her off at will. However the Illinois girl lacks the core strenght of her heyday and can't really put the hapless foe away with a single rally, she adjusts her targets and switches downstairs to clean out Roselyn's breadbasket but gets tangled in a clinch thereafter as Sanchez deploys the last line of her defense to see out the clock. That's pretty dismal tactics but at least it allows her to survive another round.
Round 3: Denise's precision is simply too much for the Puerto Rican to live with at the moment however a dose of mobility allows her to escape the initial aerial charge in the third. Richards keeps hassling her rival all across the boards though and keeps the scorecards in check despite lack of actual punishment being served. Roselyn almost loses her balance in a hectic escape yet does a solid job of circling and dancing around the fellow brunette and even makes Richards visibly annoyed come the final minute. The single-hand checkdowns are of low significance and Denise struggles to enforce the desired close range assault with Sanchez even looping at her from the back foot in the dying seconds, showing unexpected signs of aggression in the proccess.
Round 4: Both women tangle in the center of the ring but a right-on-right exchange wobbles Richards rather than her otherwise embattled foe so the subsequent flurry of Latin punches defies plenty of odds to boot. Denise sags on her heels after getting caught up in a sudden leather barrage and Roselyn barks in her first real effort of the bout to finally pour menace on the older woman. She keeps Richards on loose sands and pounds her back to the turnbuckle before camping in her midsection to pave the way for a brutal dissection come the final minute. Most of these cougars really wilt under such a striking pressure to the body and even with all her experience, Denise is no exception as she leans over the ropes with more painful yelps and fails to tame the Latin woman from hammering away in utmost rush. Even the bell doesn't stop Sanchez who needs to be dragged away by the ref but the damage to Denise's midriff is visible and the Illinois native slumps into spasms as she slowly walks back to her stool looking anything but in control of this fight anymore.
Round 5: Sanchez knows she's rattled Richards quite well in the fourth and jumps into a leather frenzy straight from the gun before the American can recover her poise. Unfortunately the wear and tear of 80 plus fights has caught up with Denise here and her bruised midsection takes another shellacking in the opening minute which sinks her on jelly knees sooner rather than later. And Roselyn just doesn't let go of this golden opportunity and keeps whacking her to the liver and guts so much that Richards doesn't find the air in her lungs to even scream out her troubles. She slumps against the younger brunette's waist but gets pummelled left, right and center and simply SLIDES DOWN ON HER KNEES with the sheer amount of punishment becomes too much to live with! Ugh! That HAD to hurt! Denise rolls onto her back and spits out her gumshield but just can't find the strenght to fight off the pain in her guts and remains down on her back until the merciless count reaches deadline. Do we have an upset here or not? KO5 Roselyn Sanchez in come-from-behind fashion!!!
AFTER: Obvious delight in the Puerto Rican camp as the high-profiled Latin spirit remains very much alive in the FCBA: "Kids like Ariana Grande and Camila Cabello give us a bad name but who ever said I should retire just months into my boxing career?", Roselyn remains coy on the spicy prospects of her fellow Latin vixens but curiously ommits another Puerto Rican Victoria Justice from her scrutiny. It's not like these two will ever clash horns in the ring given the weight difference and she admits that calling Zhang Ziyi's number was the last salloon option in case Richards got the better of her tonight. "But quite frankly she didn't and the rumours about my glass jaw can finally be canned once and for all... I hope!", she tells Tess Valmore during the post-fight interview but hardly wins the Tractorpull's finest approval in the proccess. Who can blame the lack of media hype though? Sanchez remains a cannon fodder entry on most managers' list and rallying past an ageing cougar like Richards most likely won't change their minds overnight.
Final result: Roselyn Sanchez def. Denise Richards KO5.
