BEFORE:
"It's exciting, I'll admit," says Tori with a smile. "The FCBA debut here at Asylum. A chance to get into the ring with 'The Next Big Thing'. But, I didn't come here for any of that. I came here to win. And, that's exactly what I'm going to do."
"Can't wait to get back between the ropes," says Chloe with a nod. "It's been three months and it seems like three years. It's time to get back to work."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Dearly Departed' by Shaky Graves..."
McCarthy: "Shaky Graves? The guy from 'Mission:Impossible'? I didn't know he could sing..."
Tess: "Not..."
McCarthy: "You know, I LOVED him in 'Airplane'. He was hilarious with all that 'Shirley' stuff. I'm just amazed that he sings...and pretty well, too. I'm going to have to get his album..."
O'Dell (sighing): "And, if we could come back to reality for a moment, the song you hear was featured in the television series 'No Tomorrow', and the star of that show, the lovely Tori Anderson, is on her way to ringside..."
Cassie: "And, as she mentioned in the pre-fight, Tori making her FCBA debut tonight."
O'Dell: "Anderson into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal a white number and a body that's been worked into terrific shape. And, that's..."
McCarthy: "STILL awful! I can't believe they continue to play this garbage over the sound system here! This doesn't hold a candle to Shaky Graves. And, don't call him Shirley!"
O'Dell (sighing): "The song is 'Uh Oh', and it was an international hit by the lady on her way to the ring right now, 'The Next Big Thing', Chloe Bennet!"
Tess: "Bennet back in action tonight for the first time since that 17-round war with VanCamp, and she's looking to start another long winning streak."
O'Dell: "Bennet into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that blue bikini she prefers. And, we're about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Chloe. Mac?"
McCarthy: "Anderson. Typical Dancing Hooker opponent. NO FCBA wins. Bennet."
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Our ladies are in agreement. Let's see if they're right. Early aggression from the blonde. She's setting up behind the left jab, buzzing Bennet with quite a bit of shot here. Chloe maybe a little surprised, assumes a defensive posture, keeping the gloves up, doing some counter punching here..."
McCarthy: "This isn't bad for Anderson. She's very aggressive, but not sloppy like we see from so many tyros."
O'Dell: "Good point, Mac. Tori isn't just winging away here. She's working the left hand, setting up punches. Bennet beginning to score some in the counter now as she adjusts to the surprising early offensive from the blonde. Tori moving the head well, getting the gloves out and back. Really good stuff from the blonde."
Cassie: "This definitely isn't some 'nothing to lose' blitz. She's got a fight plan and she's executing it."
O'Dell: "Coming into the last thirty seconds. Bennet keeping the gloves up, letting Anderson fight lead. Tori more than willing to do that. Looking very, very comfortable for a woman who's been in FCBA action for two plus minutes. Ten seconds left. Good one-two from Anderson and there's the bell. Tori in the first."
Tess: "It's only one round, but Anderson's corner has to be happy with that."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Anderson right back to work in the second. She's continuing with a suppressive work rate. Bennet giving a little ground now, circling, looking to foul the blonde's sights. Tori matching footwork, showing a command of the geometry. She's got the distance she wants, the angles she wants."
McCarthy: "Bennet's looking second best again. I've suspected all along that this kid isn't really any good, and she's confirming it right now."
O'Dell: "Well, I'm not sure about all that, but there's no question that Tori Anderson is getting the better of things again in the second. She's establishing control right now. Really taking command of this fight, and I don't think there are ten people in this building who thought this is what they'd be seeing tonight."
Tess: "I can tell you there aren't any people at this TABLE who thought this is what we'd be seeing."
O'Dell: "But, as much as some of us would LIKE to start on Pointy's good stuff before the broadcast, our contracts require us to be sober, so, we are INDEED seeing what we think we're seeing, Tori Anderson pulling away here late in the second. She's buzzing Bennet with combinations again and again, forcing her to back and cover in the final few seconds. There's the bell. Dominant round, Anderson."
Cassie: "And, don't look now, but Tori's up 20-18."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Third begins with Anderson again setting up behind the jab. Bennet now looking to change the terms. She's working forward, moving to middle distances, working some body. Tori quickly tying up and shoving off. Not interested in getting into this kind of fight with the brunette. Chloe, though, looking to force her hand."
Cassie: "I like this from Bennet. A lot. Other girl's comfortable doing something, you make her do something else."
O'Dell: "That's clearly the plan. Bennet bobbing the head, working past the jab, hooking ribs and midsection. Again, Anderson ties up, shoves off. Now, the blonde using a drop step to create a little distance, a little time to get that jab on. Becoming a bit of cat and mouse stuff, as Anderson looks to score at range and the brunette looks to do so in closer."
Tess: "Again, got to say I'm impressed with Anderson. She's handling this pretty well, not allowing Chloe to dictate."
O'Dell: "Twenty seconds to go in what's been a very close round. Anderson doing enough at range to offset what Bennet's doing when she gets past the blonde's defenses. Tori a nice combination to the head, Chloe slips forward, digs some body. Five seconds left. Good right hand from Anderson and there's the bell. Close round. But, Anderson again."
McCarthy: "And, Bennet's just had that dreaded first three round trifecta run on her. Anderson 30-27."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Chloe working forward again to start the fourth. This time, she's not stopping at middle distances, she's closing and banging. This is Allison Mack/Neve Campbell stuff. Anderson again trying to tie up and shove off, but Bennet punching free, holding her ground, working that body inside..."
Cassie: "And, Anderson's not liking it a bit. Tori wants to get back to boxing, but Chloe's got other plans right now."
O'Dell: "That she does, and those involve doing some serious grinding. Anderson again trying to tie up, but Bennet very strong and sturdy in there, just keeps thumping away, tenderizing that tummy, reddening those ribs. Tori finally gets the break she wants, but Chloe right back forward, crowding the blonde..."
McCarthy: "Some of those hooks are nasty little punches, Jenny. She'd better keep those above the belt. I'm WATCHING her..."
O'Dell: "Twenty five seconds to go in the fourth. Bennet giving Anderson a good working over inside, working downstairs then landing a nice uppercut that backed the blonde up a step. Tori ties up again and now Bennet shoves off and lands a BIG combination that sent sweat flying at the bell! End of the fourth, and Chloe takes it wide."
Tess: "Anderson still up 39-37, but Bennet's on the board."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Anderson right to the jab. She wants to box at range here and Bennet willing to do it with her now. Chloe not closing. Instead, we're back on the terms where we started the fight. Bennet matching Anderson's work rate this time, not getting tossed to the defensive, and THERE'S A RIGHT HAND FROM BENNET and Tori's hurt!"
Cassie: "That was an absolutely BRUTAL punch, right on the button! How Anderson's still standing is anyone's guess!"
O'Dell: "But, standing she is. And, Bennet going all in to remedy THAT little situation. Chloe thumping away with both hands as Tori retreats behind a tight earmuff. Anderson quickly backed to the ropes and things are getting plenty ugly for the blonde now. Bennet going to work on that body, which Tori's put on sale cheap..."
McCarthy: "This is a mistake. She's giving this kid time, letting her run clock."
O'Dell: "She's also giving her a beating to the ribs and midsection. We can hear some of those punches slamming home and we're on the other side of the ring. Bennet a nice uppercut splits the gloves and wobbles Tori again. Referee looking in. Anderson clinching, hanging on. Bennet shoves off. Tori clinches again and there's the bell. Shutout, Bennet."
Tess: "And, Chloe's cut the lead to 48-47 at the half."
ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: "Bennet looking to finish as we start the second half of the fight. Chloe working forward behind the left, walking Anderson down. Tori can't hold canvas. Legs not all the way back. Chloe upstairs, down, up again. She's landing some heavy shot as Anderson gives ground, plays defense..."
McCarthy: "Kid's got to counter more. She's letting Bennet have too much of the offense right now."
O'Dell: "Chloe showing some clinician's inclinations right now, picking apart Anderson's defenses, landing hard shot with both hands. Tori still somewhat unsteady, jabbing back in spots, but unable to do much more. Bennet working the blonde back toward the ropes again. Tori trying to circle away, stay off the cables..."
Tess: "Smart move. Doesn't want to be on those ropes again..."
O'Dell: "Bennet working Anderson backward and DROPPING HER WITH A RIGHT HOOK! Oh, what a shot from Bennet and Tori's down on her right side..."
Cassie: "Turn out the ligggghhhhttttssss. The party's ooooovvvvveerrrrr...."
O'Dell: "Bennet to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Anderson unmoving and, after that head swivel, I'm not surprised. Seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And, your winner by KO6 is 'The Next Big Thing', Chloe Bennet!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Chloe Bennet, and, Chloe, she gave you some trouble early. A little rust?"
Chloe: "No way. That wasn't about me. It was about her. She came in with a plan to box aggressively and it took me some time to adjust to it. Credit to her on that one."
Tess: "But, you DID adjust..."
Chloe: "Oh, yeah. That was going to happen. I had to figure how to get going, and I did. And, once I got going, I was GOING to get her. It was just a matter of time."
