FLYWEIGHT TITLE UNIFICATION

Before: Lucy looking to unify flyweight yet again, further sealing her legacy as a hall of fame shoo-in at sub110. "Nobody in this business deserves a beating more than Lucy Liu," states special commentator Ashley Judd, "but I just don't see how Virginie can make that happen. Love her or hate her - you need a disciplined fight plan and precision tools to take Liu apart and Virginie's really more an instinctive winger in there. She caught and dropped Kelly Packard just by being a gunslinger, but she's in there with Wyatt Earp tonight. My heart's saying go Virginie - but I'm not betting on her tonight." Ledoyen in black leather bra style bikini, wet curls, Liu in black push up, leopard print boy cut trunks, low ponytail.



During R1: Judd's analysis accurate early - Ledoyen wide, wrap around punching - Liu seeing it well, get low, evades the heat. Lucy showing good respect however - she'll dart in, slap the tummy, jump back out - just getting comfortable with the range and rhythm of her lanky foe.



R2: Another tactical round for Lucy. Liu weaving in down low, hands at her knees, supple at the waist, head almost below Virginie's waistline at times. Lucy's forays have Virginie slapping down with her punches awkwardly, missing or glancing blows for the most part. Offensively, LL touching Virginie in the waist, trying for the chin with the odd leaping swipe but coming up short through 2.



R3: More slash and tickle from Lucy - she's getting close unscathed, but not doing much - just making sure she can get in, get off and get out without picking up the receipt. Ledoyen cooperating by coming forward and winging wide - Lucy with the canvas to hang back, let her opponent come to her and swat counters at long stretches of Ledoyen torso.



R4: Virginie adjusting, now hanging back, right hand at her shoulder, left crooked at her side - she's feinting with Lucy, stepping around - a jab would be nice but you can't have everything. Girls baiting each other in nervy action - each scoring with cuffing little counter shots as the other tries to lunge in. Down the stretch, Liu leaps from too far out with the sweeping uppercut, gets turned around when she lands and takes a sweeping right behind the ear with bludgeons her to all fours! LL up quick, but feeling the whiplash power of the model as Ledoyen gets back in the fight.



R5: Patience being rewarded for Virginie - she's keeping her distance, fighting tall, stepping to her left - slowly coaxing Lucy to make the fight. Liu cautious as she darts in and out - she's taking the risks to make the fight, but getting picked up by Ledoyen's better than expected reflexes - especially a little cuffing counter hook off the hip. Final minute, Liu recovering from a missed overhand left from the southpaw stance, leaning back on her hips - Ledoyen stepping in and sweeping a wide right hand catches the Asian's raised chin and LIU GOES DOWN! Lucy off balance, getting clipped clean and dropped to her back - crowd goes wild as Liu takes 8, staggers slightly as she steps forward at the bell.



R6: Now Liu feeling score-card pressure, continues to press, continues to pay. Virginie creating space nicely - still not jabbing, but luring Liu forward, making the Asian commit, then batting at her with quick strike lefts, lunging at her with the sweeping right whenever Liu bends straight back. Liu too quick and shifty to be caught clean again, but she's looking confused - all out attack to risky, hanging back not an option with two knockdowns against.



R7: Lucy with a break. Virginie back to her wild swinging ways, misses several swiping lefts and rights, gets wrong footed and LL jumps in a vicious little counter hook, all legs and body, that sends Ledoyen reeling. Lucy angling in, feet wide, hands down, using her upperbody to draw Virginie's fire, swaying in and out with digging rips to the waist and face - Ledoyen not picking up the low slung trajectory very well. Down the stretch, Lucy menacing Ledoyen up against the ropes, Liu just weaving with her hands down, face forward, gives a little shoulder feint, then jumps in a straight right hand poke from the thigh that drifts Ledoyen hurt into the strands at the break.



R8: Ledoyen responding like a fighter when she's stung - it's a mistake. Liu able to step back from the aggression, walking Virginie into punishing strokes up underneath to the ribcage, falling off to the side, nailing the French girl upside the head with swinging circus counters from either hand. Virginie blundering forward, taking her hardest knocks of the night and simply unable to get into position - vintage Lucy Liu taking a girl apart with sweet timing and hurtful potshots from crazy angles. Ledoyen unraveling - missing over the top - Liu able to slip and come up behind the girl, lovingly wrapping up around the belly and spinning Virginie, then batting away as the confusion mounts. Final minute - Liu rolling with a Ledoyen right hand, bends back to her left to pull a crashing right straight onto the French girl's mouth - VL dropped to her buttocks, tilting onto her side like a sinking ship - she's hurt! VL takes 8, but she's stepping funky - Liu striding in with her left at her side, right at her shoulder - Lucy feints, bends to the right under a tepid Ledoyen left and JUMPS in that slamming lead right hand on the jaw. Virginie shunted straight onto her backside, slumped against the ropes - Liu's momentum carries her in close where she can get in a cheap free right hand across the sleepy face - Ledoyen pathetic, out cold - face taking the breezy slap without complaint. KO8 for the winner and UNIFIED FLYWEIGHT CHAMPION Lucy Liu!

After: Krusher roadies cue up 'Empire Strikes Back' theme song - Liu strutting with belts adorning her golden body, smiling malevolently to a mixture of boos and cheers. Ledoyen proving meddlesome, but ultimately going with her fastball and losing as a result - Liu taking her time to diagnose and treat the problem with typical mix of clinical precision and carnival flair. Virginie recovering on her stool, just stepping through the ropes when Lucy takes her hips from behind, shaking her head "Not just yet," and taking the battered French woman for her title losing walk of shame.
