Before: Liu with a rare open contract - Packard seizing on the opportunity to get her title bout. "There's no doubt in my mind that I'm Lucy Liu's worst nightmare," says the veteran blonde, "She's looked horrible against second rate competition and she's not equipped to deal with me. I know all the Liu-beating tricks - the book on her has been around for a long time and all the good boxing flyweights can execute it. It's the end of the Liu era at 110 - she just doesn't know it yet." Liu in slick low ponytail, black push up, leopard print boy cut trunks, black shoes - Kelly in black string bikini, black shoes.

During R1: Struggle for tactical control - Packard hanging back, relying on her jab, rotating counterclockwise, making Liu come to her. Lucy relying on her legs, upperbody movement, weaving Kelly's jab and jumping in with the circus punches from her thighs. Down the stretch, Packard's will prevails - she's timing Lucy, stepping back and running Liu into harsh left hands as Liu leaps in, then drilling with straight rights as Lucy's left in no-man's land.

R2: Liu leaping in with the lead left uppercut - Kelly fades it perfectly, absorbing Liu's momentum with her jab, then putting the right, left, right to work on Lucy's face and LIU GOES DOWN! Lucy off balance, gets her head swivelled and drops to her hands and butt. Liu up quickly, angry, and it gets the better of her. Lucy charging in, Kelly running her into the jab and once Liu's made her move, blonde able to counter with straight right hands and hooks to the head. Lucy stubbornly trying to make it work - jumping in, getting touched up, Packard stepping to the right stays unscathed as she marks the champ up for a shutout.

R3: Back to back shutouts Packard - Kelly pouring on the class - she's got Liu coming forward, picking her up effortlessly, then exploiting Lucy's bad balance after the Asian's first move. Liu looking sluggish, uncertain, face starting to puff up from Packard's good leather. Kelly digging hooks to the body for the first time as she starts to put it all together - perilously little offense for Lucy in the first 9 minutes of this fight.

R4: Liu more patient, more effective this round. Lucy stops pursuing, instead engaging Kelly at arm's length - Asian's reflexes become a factor as Liu is able to swat and cuff hooks, bend low under Kelly's jab as the two fence midring. Liu doing the circling now, stepping to her right, hands at her hips as she cranes forward, inviting Packard's punching, weaving very low to evade and countering effectively with either hand out wide.

R5: Similar to the fourth - both girls cautious, wheels turning as they probe and feint for openings. Liu missing hooks as Packard steps out with good anticipation, then leans in to poke right hand counters off her front foot. Kelly using her reach to good effect - she's more accurate, better defensively, but it's a close, tactical round without a lot of hard punching.

R6: Lucy bending low, reaching her backhand jab into Kelly's breadbasket, then jumping away - Asian trying to work her way back into power punching range as blonde stays behind a rigid, high guard. Kelly trying to time chopping counters, just missing as Liu weaves in and out. Midway through, Liu jumps in a sudden lead right hand down the middle, rocking Kelly onto her heels. Blonde recovers well, swiping hooks just in case - Liu leaning back out of danger then hopping forward, bending in close with a chopping hook to the temple. PACKARD SPRAWLS TO THE CANVAS! It's OVER! Kelly Packard flat on her back, face twisted in pain, hands at her head - temple shot puts her out in a thunderclap as a grinning Lucy struts it up! KO6 Lucy Liu!

After: Packard owning this fight, doing everything just right, even flooring Liu and hurting her on occasion, but that jump in short hook - all forward momentum and body weight behind the punch shatters Kelly's dreams. Packard badly shaken, blubbering as Liu batches her up for a flaunting walk of shame. Lucy loving this one - she knows this was the most credible defense of this latest title reign in many people's eyes, re-establishing her as a pound for pound threat.
