RACHEL MCADAMS VS DAISY RIDLEY Results: Lookout Writing: Archer Rachel: 38 YO, 5’4 (1.63 m), 47-35-1 since 2005, Foxfire Boxing Daisy: 24 YO, 5’7 (1.70 m), 7-0-0 since 2015, Alpha Boxing Club
Before: “I was surprised when they told me Rachel McAdams wanted to fight me,” Daisy Ridley tells the press at the pre-fight gathering. “She is such a great fighter and I haven’t even had 10 fights yet. I will certainly do my best against her. I hope the fans will be pleased with my efforts.”
At the podium, Rachel explains: “I giving up 3 inches to Daisy and she is undefeated in 7 fights. She’s beaten Laura Vandervoort and Eliza Dushku in her last two fights. Neither of them is an easy opponent. She is serious challenge within the bantam division and I would rather fight her sooner than later. I am sure she will do her best against me. I will promise her that I will bring my best to the fight.”
Daisy is so pleased that she jumps out of her seat and hugs Rachel, Rachel looks startled.
“Really, Miss Ridley,” Rachel manages to say, ”it’s all right to hug an opponent, but you are supposed to do it AFTER the fight.”
Daisy becomes red with embarrassment as she backs off: “I’m so sorry, I’ve had to listen to a lot of trash talk from opponents. It’s just so refreshing not to be insulted in a prefight. I just had to thank you. I didn’t mean to embarrass you.”
Rachel laughs: “My dear, I have had so many prefights that ended in clothes ripping and hair pulling—I assure you I can survive a hug,”
The crowd laughs as Daisy continues to blush. Rachel comes over and gives her hug.
“Of course, I am still going to knock your cute block off,” Rachel whispers with a smile
“I will do my utmost to put that rather shapely derriere of yours on the canvas,” Daisy says developing a smile.
“That’s more like it, my dear,” Rachel says, “it just wouldn’t be an FCBA prefight without at least some trash talk. You are clearly learning quickly.”
With another laugh the veteran and the rookie shake hands (another seldom-seen sight at an FCBA pre-fight presser). Then they take their separate exits from the stage.
So not a lot of tension around this fight, but there is still a great deal of interest. Daisy Ridley has certainly proved she can beat veteran bantams. Now she faces her toughest test in multi-champion Rachel McAdams. It appears Rachel McAdams sees this as a test to find out if she can still be competitive against younger quality bantams. So fans should have plenty to look for as the two enter the ring.
Rachel is in a red and black one piece suits. Black gloves and boots with red laces. Rachel’s auburn hair in a ponytail. Daisy in navy blue one piece. Matching gloves and boots. Simple ponytail for Daisy. Poker faces on for the ring instructions and quick tap of gloves then Rachel and Daisy go to their corners. They have only a few moments wait before the bell rings and the fight is on.
R1: Rachel moving smoothly to the attack, Quick shots over Daisy’s gloves and into her face. Daisy ducking clockwise and firing back. Rachel shifting position to try to keep up with the younger woman. Steady punching from both with heads and bodies getting equal attention. Rachel working to keep Daisy under pressure with punching to face and jaw. Daisy going after Rachel’s jaw, but finding some nice targets in Rachel’s breasts. Rachel making a quick counterclockwise turn and scores hard to Daisy’s cheekbone. Then a knock-back paste square to the mouth. Daisy backing up a step or two and then gets her jab going to block Rachel’s follow up. Daisy looks good on defense though Rachel comes away with the close win for the round as a whole.
R2: Daisy showing more offensive punching this round. Starts with some sloid shots to the breast and then Daisy brings overhand right to smack Rachel in the left eye. Rachel smacks back with a hard hook to the stomach and then gives Daisy’s knockers some hard hitting. Daisy doesn’t seem too discouraged and hangs in to slip an uppercut into Rachel’s chin giving the veteran a tremor down her legs. Daisy advancing with a steady series of punches roaming to face and body of Rachel, who strikes back with the jab and the two then slip into toe to toe pounding action. Daisy again finds Rachel’s chin late with quick swiping right/combo that rocks Rachel back onto her heels, Daisy pounds McAdams belly but Rachel recovering quickly to bang Daisy hard to the body. They punch away to the bell and then step back, Both looking the other in the eye, neither willing to be first to turn away until referee breaks up the staring contest and sends them back to their corners. Round again close, but Daisy edges Rachel out on points.
R3: Rachel showing more footwork this time, she’s circling, reversing and generally trying to befuddle the rookie. Daisy getting a steady series of licks to the head and can’t seem to catch the elusive veteran with her counters. Rachel shifts to firing quick ones in Daisy’s midsection and adding some straight rights and lefts to hammer Daisy’s breasts back against her ribcage. Daisy looking beleaguered as the round goes on and her jab just isn’t keeping Rachel off. Rachel dominating to the bell, though a badly banged up Daisy still on her feet. Round to Rachel McAdams wide/
R4: Daisy trying to show some offensive this round. She comes in striking at Rachel’s chest and stomach, but Rachel striking back hard with the jab. Daisy stubbornly pressing forward, trying to force her way through Rachel’s defense, but the veteran is blunting her efforts. Then, as Daisy’s attack fades, Rachel smoothly shifts to the offense and stuns Daisy with an unexpected uppercut to the chin. Then as Daisy is reeling back, Rachel steps forward and slaps her head around with rapid-fire rights and lefts to the jaw. DOWN GOES DAISY!. Daisy Ridley on her back looking up in shock. Rachel takes a quick look and then departs for the neutral corner. Daisy rolls to her side and slowly rises from the canvas, just beating the count at “NINE!...” Fight resumes but Daisy is all turtled up defensively and Rachel has to content herself smacking Daisy’s head and flanks to the bell. Big round for Rachel McAdams as she wins it wide and adds a knockdown to her side of the ledger. Daisy trudging back to her corner, slowly shaking her head as if to clear the cobwebs,
R5: Daisy understandably cautious as the round opens and Rachel comes back full of quick moves and lightning punches. Daisy’s newfound caution is helping to neutralize Rachel’s efforts to get her open and off balance. Rachel obliged to take a more direct approach and punch her way in. Daisy fighting back with determination as the two are exchanging shots to head and body. Daisy now sinking hooks into Rachel’s midsection and causing her to bend forward. Rachel now suddenly on the defensive as Daisy pushes against the soles of her boots to get extra power into her punching. Rachel doubled up and shuffling backwards while using her jab to slow Daisy, Daisy’s attack falters against jabbing to her chest and face. Final flurry late in round sees Daisy land a strong overhand right into Rachel’s left. Rachel recoiling as swelling from previous Ridley to eyebrow starts bleeding. Round ends in a close win for Daisy Ridley.
(Foxfire crew working hard on Rachel’s left eyebrow cut and the rapidly swelling area around the left eye as a whole. Daisy looking hopeful as she observes this from her corner).
R6: Rachel feeling the challenge of the younger woman goes right back at Daisy this round. Daisy standing her ground and countering hard to smother the attack.ost intense, sustained action of the fight so far. Daisy’s elbows working like pistons as she keep ramming her gloves into Rachel’s quivering body. Rachel feeling the impacts. She crouches and is firing her punches upward into the taller woman’s body. Daisy starting quiver from the leather slamming into her, but she hangs in there trading Rachel punch for punch. Crowd is on its feet cheering them on as the two struggle for dominance, but neither is able to achieve this before bell rings. In fact, they don’t seem to hear the bell and referee has to jump in and force them apart. Two get into another staring contrast as they stand there, arms at side, sweat dropping off their and chests heaving with effort. Referee breaks this up too. Fans buzz excitedly about just who is going to emerge the winner as this round goes down as a DRAW!
R7: Rachel and Daisy come out a bit slowly for this round, but quickly charge into each other again, but this time punches aren’t to the body, but to the head. Rachel strikes first with a right to the jaw that spins Daisy’s head around. Daisy swings a right of her own that catches Rachel in that problematic left eye. Rachel struck hard by this blow and is standing there in shock when Daisy’s right returns to crack against the side of her chin. RACHEL SPINS TO ALL FOURS! She crouches there gasping for breath and seeing the blood dripping from her re-opened left eyebrow. Daisy looks wide-eyed at the sight but then heads for the neutral corner. Referee counts to “EIGHT!...” and then Rachel stands up. She stoutly declares she can go on. Referee doesn’t like the look of that left eye, though the blood seems to have stopped and he agrees to let the fight continue. Rachel fighting back hard as Daisy comes back in. She has her jab going and it is busting up Daisy’s face even more, but the rookie is not going to retreat. She loosens Rachel up with repeated hooks to the belly and then as the veteran’s guard falters, she loops a right that smashes into Rachel’s left eye. Rachel acts like an electric shock has been sent through her body and then Daisy brings a wide right blasting into Rachel’s jaw. Rachel’e head swivels and Daisy is sprayed with blood and sweat! RACHEL IS OUT COLD. Rachel McAdams just collapses like a sack of wet laundry into Daisy’s startled arms. Daisy jumps back as Rachel slides down her body and comes to rest at her feet. Daisy looks stricken as referee sends her away. Count late in starting. Rachel stirring, trying to get up, reaches a position where she is sitting on her folded legs and looking up with a forlorn express as the count goes passed her. THE WINNER: DAISY RIDLEY KO7
After: Daisy tries to rush over to the kneeling Rachel, but referee holds her back as Foxfire trainer Virginia Madsen tends to her fighter. Rachel helped to her feet and escorted to her stool. Daisy is finally allowed to go check on her opponent. Rachel is a sight, that left eye is sure to turn into an impressive shiner, but she manages a reassuring smile to the concerned Daisy.
“Congratulations, Miss Ridley,” Rachel says, “you are most definitely the real deal.”
Daisy nods: “Thank you, but I’m going to aching for days after this fight. You gave me a real working over.”
“You’ll find winning, especially your 8th in row is a great healer,” Rachel said
“You said its okay to hug after a fight, so here goes,: says Daisy bending over to hug Rachel.
“Just don’t expect that to happen very often,” Rachel says, “most girls want humiliation more than hugs,”
“I understand,” Daisy says, “but that just makes this special.”
“Come on, Rachel, I need to get you back to the dressing room and have that eye looked at,: Virginia Madsen says.
Daisy nods and walks back to her own side of the ring. The crowd cheers wildly for her and she raises her right arm to acknowledge them.
Daisy Ridley continues to impress. That’s three wins in a row over established bantams and she is now undefeated in 8 fights. Rachel McAdams certainly gave the rookie a hard test, but Daisy able to come back from knockdown and win the contest. The ABC fighters bantam prospects are shining brighter than ever. That may make Rachel’s loss a bit easier to take in the long-run should Daisy continue to rise all the way to the top of the division. After all, you can’t look too bad having lost to a future champion. Very good fight and bantam fans have every reason to look forward to Daisy’s return to the ring.
