TESS VALMORE

MORETZ/WASIKOWSKA A good active fight while it lasted. I had Moretz winning three of the first four rounds. Moretz had Wasikowska hurt at the end of the fourth. It didn’t take her long to end the fight in the fifth with a right uppercut that sent Wasikowska down for the count

E. HENSTRIDGE/F. JONES The bout was even at the end of two and even at the end of four. Jones went into the lead by decking Henstridge for an eight count in the fifth. Henstridge managed to come back and take the sixth. In the seventh, Henstridge landed a right hook to the chin and then one to the body and Jones went down and was counted out

M. FOX/EVIGAN Another fight that was even at the end of two and even at the end of four. In the fifth, Fox decked Evigan for an eight count. Evigan didn’t have time to recover between rounds and Fox went head hunting and ended the bout with a right uppercut. Fox KO6

SHAHI/KUNIS The bout was even at two. Shahi came on to have Kunis hurt in both the third and forth to take a good lead. The lead didn’t last long as Kunis went on the offense in the fifth and floored Shahi with a left uppercut. Kunis followed up in the sixth, working on Shahi before KOing her with a short left hook

S. MILLER/PORTMAN The two split the first two rounds. Miller, then, floored Portman in the third and went on to take the fifth and came close to finishing Portman in the sixth. Portman then went on the offense in the seventh and landed a couple of punches below the belt that had Miller in a bad way. Miller didn’t recover between rounds and Portman ended the fight with left uppercut. Portman KO8

DIZON/FREGE What kind of future does Dizon have in the FCBA. Not much of one. She got KOed by Frege in less than four rounds having lost two of the previous three. We award Dizon an “I got KOed by Frege” T shirt. Wear it proudly Leah

LOPILATO/R JONES Lopilato took the early lead by flooring Jones in the second. Jones came back and take rounds three and four. Lopilato managed to close the lead by winning the fifth. Lopilato had Jones hurt late on the sixth but wasn’t able to finish her opponent. It would cost her in the seventh, as Jones landed a big uppercut and Lipilato went down. She managed to get to her feet by the eight count, but was a sitting duck for Jones who pounded away until the referee stepped in and stopped the fight. Jones with TKO7 scores the first upset of the night

SANTORO/IGLESIAS Iglesias got off to a good start winning the first two rounds, Too bad the fight didn’t end there. In the third, Santoro handed Iglesias a bad beating and had her ready to go at the end of the round. Santoro continued the beating in the fourth until Iglesias finally went down and was counted out

MORGANE/BEATRIZ The bout which lasted two plus rounds was all Morgane as she won the first two rounds and then in the third, pounded Beatriz down to the canvas for a KO win

LYNCH/McCORD An impressive outing for the rookie. She won every round that the fight lasted. McCord was saved by the bell in the third and again in the fourth. Lynch totally iced McCord in the fifth. The referee didn’t even bother to count. I would suggest that this be the end of the line for McCord, who has now lost even in a row and hasn’t won a fight in five years

SCODELARIO/E. RICHARDS After Scodelario took the first round, Richard won the next two rounds. In the fourth, it was Scodelario who came out on top with both bleeding from cuts. In the fifth an exchange of punches went Scodelario’s way. She pounded Richards into the ropes and then finished her with a right hook that left Richards out cold

BENSON/C. PATTON Benson won the first two rounds, but by the end of the fourth, Patton had evened the bout. Benson had Patton glassy eyed at the end of the fifth. In the sixth, Benson caught Patton with a straight right to the nose and Patton went down and seemed to have lost interest and stayed down

KOSARIN/GREENE Kosarin won the opening round, but Greene took the lead by winning the second and third. Kosarin managed to floor Greene in the fourth and also won the fifth having Greene hurt at the end of the round. Kosarin’s failure to finish Greene would cost her, as Greene came back to win the sixth and then put the hammer down in the seventh as a flurry of punches left Kosarin down for the ten count

MUNN/DORMER The bout was even at the end of two and even at the end of four. The rounds were active but no serious damage was down to either. That changed in the fifth as Munn landed a hard one/two and followed up with straight right that sent Dormer down to a KO defeat

WOODLEY/PERABO The bout was even at the end of four with Woodley taking rounds one and three and Perabo winning rounds two and four. In the fifth,  Woodley decked Perabo who was saved by the bell, Perabo would go down again the the sixth, a victim of a Woodley uppercut. This time she would not get up. KO6 Woodley. Perabo has a good record but at 41, I think she should consider hanging the gloves up

LOHAN/LOVATO JMD LOVATO

VIKANDER/MEESTER The fight was even at the end of four. Meester surged into the lead by taking the fifth. In the sixth, Vikander hurt Meester with a right hand and followed up with another right hook and Meester went down and was counted out

GLAU/S. BUSH Glau took the first two rounds and Bush the next two. Glau went back into the lead by winning the fifth. Bush came back to tale the sixth and had Glau ready to go at the end of the seventh. Bush ended Glau’s night in the eighth, with straight right that left Glau out at Bush’s feet

VANCAMP/SUDOL I didn’t give Sudol much of a chance in the bout , but to my surprise she was way ahead at the end of four. The fifth was very active and hotly contested with VanCamp getting the best of it. Both seemed gassed coming out for the sixth with VanCamp being less so. She went to work on Sudol sending her to the canvas for an eight count. Sudal managed to get to her feet only to suffer a hard right to the body that ended the bout with Sudal hugging herself on the canvas

BENOIST/STEINFELD Steinfeld won two of the first three rounds. Benoist evened the bout up by taking the fourth. Steinfeld had a good fifth,  having Benoist against the ropes, but Benoist was able to get out of the round without too serious damage. In the sixth, Benoist staggered Steinfeld with a right to the eye and ended the fight with a right uppercut. Benoist KO6

McADAMS/RIDLEY Ridley entered the bout undefeated and she leaves undefeated, but it wasn’t easy,   McAdams won three of the first four rounds including flooring Ridley in the fourth. Ridley was still behind going into the seventh. Early in the seventh, Ridley sent McAdams down with a right to the chin. McAdams was able to get to her feet but then ate a huge swinging right that ended her night. A big win for Ridley

AMBROSIO/RENEE Renee was looking awfully good through four. She had won all four and had floored Ambrosio in the third. Ambrosio finally got going in the fifth having Renee shaky at the end of the round. In the sixth, Ambrosio landed a couple big rights that ended Renee’s hope of a win. Ambrosio KO6

JENNER/FUMERO I didn’t expect much from this fight and for once I was right. It was pretty much Jenner even if Fumero won one round. Jenner knocked Fumero out cold in the fourth. No surprise here

HATHAWAY/TURNER Hathaway had the lead at the end of three only to have Turner work her over in the fourth. In the fifth, Turner softened up Hathaway with a body attack that set up a savage right to Hathaway’s chin that ended the contest

ALEXANDER/J.KELLY Kelly was once considered the best lightweight never to hold a title. That is definitely no longer true. Alexander fought a smart fight willing to give up a round or two to get Kelly tired. By the beginning of the fifth, the strategy had worked.as Kelly was wobbly and tired. In the sixth, a straight right from Alexander left Kelly out on her face

STRAHOVSKI/PERRY This was a bout considering the opponents that should have been much later in the card. Two of the top lightweights. winner could get a title shot. Surprisingly Strahovski cruised through the first six rounds having a huge lead at the end of that time. Perry commenced a come back by taking the seventh and then flooring Yvonne in the eighth. Perry continued cutting Strahovski’s lead by taking the ninth. Early in the tenth Strahovski landed right uppercut and Perry was undone. Strahovski unloaded until Perry slid down to the canvas beaten.  Strahovksi KO10

PALVIN/JAGACIAK The bout lasted less than four. Actually Jagaciak had the lead at the end of three. Then, in the fourth, the expected happened. The two were exchanging punches when Palvin landed a right to Jagaciak’s temple and the fight was over Palvin KO4

GOVICH/KRSMANOVIC I said in my predictions that Krsmanovic had a lot of supporters and I had no idea why. I still don’t. Govich had lost seven straight and hadn’t won a fight in four years. That streak is over. Krsmanovic had the lead at the end of four. Govich had a good round in the fifth. In the sixth. Govich landed a left right combination and Krsmanovic was toast.  Boxing World suggested Govich consider retiring. I agree. She won this bout, but I think it says more about Krsmanovic that it does Govich

RIGHETTI/CALLIES Did anyone really doubt how this bout was going to turn out? Really?  Oh, Callies had her moments as she lasted about eleven minutes which was six more minutes that I expected. Righetti KO4

UPTON/GRAHAM JMDD UPTON

FERGUSON/BROOK Ferguson is one of the up and coming welters. Brook is a 37 year old welter who had been on the down side for a couple years Ferguson took three of the first four rounds. Brook managed to take the fifth, but in the sixth Ferguson landed a right that sent Brook down. Brook, somehow managed to regain her feet only to be blasted into unconsciousness by another Ferguson double uppercut

RHODA/KARDASHIAN Rhoda is another of the up and coming welters. Kardashian is a Kardashian which doesn’t mean a lot. This was a good fight with some heavy hitting, but I had Rhoda in the lead at the end of seven. In the eighth, Rhoda landed a right to the chin and followed up with a shot to the body and Kardashian’s hopes of victory disappeared. Rhoda KO8

McKINNEY/KLOSS Kloss was our lightweight of the year last year. McKinney usually fights at JMDD. She should stay there. After the fight being even at the end of four, McKinney took rounds five and six to take the lead. That lead started to disappear as Kloss took the seventh and was gone in the eighth as Kloss caught McKinney with a right hand counter that ended the fight with Kloss claiming a KO8

SWAN/DIDONATO For the Queen of the Ice Hotel title. The fight was back and fourth being even at the end of six with neither fighter winning two rounds in a row. Early in the seventh, Swan hurt DiDonato and went on to pound her down to the canvas for a seventh round KO and retain the title

DADDARIO/T. ATKINSON JMDD TITLE ATKINSON

REGAN/G. ATKINSON For the Welter title The fight was even at two. Then, Regan decked Atkinson in the third. Atkinson returned the favor by flooring Regan in the fourth, The slugging went on and the two were tied at the end of six with Regan hurting her hand in the sixth. That hurt hand would cost her in the seventh, hindering her both offensively and defensively, Atkinson landed a couple big uppercuts and Bridget went down and out. Atkinson retains the title

MITCHELL/BELLISARIO A inter-stable bout for the bantam title I mentioned that I didn’t like inter-stable title fights as it was a way that a stable could maintain the title no matter who won. I said it also so showed a lack of confidence in the title holder. Turns out that that lack of confidence was well founded. The bout which was back and forth was even at the end of six. Bellisario went ahead on the cards by taking the seventh. Early in the eighth, Bellisario landed a right that sent Mitchell down. Mitchell would get up only to get caught  by another uppercut that ended the fight with Bellisario the new champion,  but the title stays in PLP
