BEFORE:
"Talk about opportunities," Amber says with a stunning smile. "Not only do I get to make my FCBA debut, I get to do it against a former lightweight champion! And, apropos of nothing, you might have noticed that lots of girls have been making BIG splashes early in their careers lately. Just saying."
"Look," says Decker shaking her head, "This is a step down for me. It's the first time I've been at Asylum since 2015, the first time since then that I'm just in a ho-hum fight. There's no title or Model Supremacy on the line and I'm not breaking Front Street into JMDD. It's just a fight. But. I have FANS. And, I have a responsibility to those fans. So, I'm going to go out tonight and treat this girl like she's something special, even though she isn't."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside, and that's 'Freedom' by Beyonce, and here comes the lovely Amber Stevens to make her FCBA debut..."
McCarthy: "Just ridiculous! This overrated Dancing Hooker Decker goes on a losing streak and Weirdo books her in TWO STRAIGHT fights against girls with no FCBA wins! I have no idea how he gets AWAY with it. I'm going to ask the FCBA to investigate!"
Tess: "You know, Mac, you'd better buy Wiz a REALLY nice gift this Boss' Day..."
McCarthy: "I WILL DO NO SUCH THING BECAUSE HE IS NOT MY BOSS!"
O'Dell (sighing): "Stevens into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal a navy blue bikini and a long, strong, knockout of a body."
McCarthy: "I have to admit...she MIGHT get in 'Playboy'...if they shot her from the right angles..."
O'Dell: "Aaaannnnnddd down go the lights and here comes the laser show..."
McCarthy: "Even MORE ridiculous! Only someone with a head as big as Decker's would need all this folderol!"
Cassie: "Mac, how old ARE you???"
McCarthy: "OLD? You LITTLE..."
O'Dell: "The song you hear behind the laser show is, of course, 'Also Sprach Zarathustra', and that means that 'The 21st Century Goddess', Brooklyn Decker, is on her way, very slowly, as usual, to ringside..."
McCarthy: "She ought to be FINED! Get down the aisle and get into the ring you BIMBO!"
Cassie: "Tess...slide your chair a little further away from Mac, like I'm doing..."
Tess: "Good idea, BFF..."
McCarthy: "WILL you two stop babbling???!!!"
O'Dell (sighing): "Decker into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that yellow two-piece she prefers...and the crowd prefers even MORE. And, it's about time for some picks. Tess likes Decker. Mac?"
McCarthy: "I HATE Decker. Stevens!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "And, here we go. Stevens showing good feet early slowly circling, jabbing. Decker turning with, getting the left on and working from there. Blonde not worrying about getting the lay of the land in the first, she's trying to get to work, stepping forward and dropping right hands behind the left..."
McCarthy: "I know why fighters sometimes use the first for recon, but, it can be a problem if you aren't careful. There are only ten rounds. Give one away and you might need that point later."
Cassie: "Mark that down, Tess. Mac made sense. We're probably good until Easter now..."
McCarthy: "SHUT UP, SCABBO!"
O'Dell: "Amber continuing a slow, deliberate circle to her right away from the blonde's power. She's showing some angles, moving the head and feet. Decker doing a good job of matching footwork and getting square. It's good, two-way stuff right now with neither fighter taking control of things to this point."
Tess: "Stevens very athletic from what we've seen on video. And, you're seeing that now. Very lithe, very quick. Just great feet. But, Decker still able to get square on her."
O'Dell: "That's because Brooke's plenty athletic, too, and she's also got quite a bit of FCBA experience. Coming down the stretch in a good, competitive first. Slow turn continuing and both fighters having their moments, getting leather on in spots. Five seconds. Good exchange and there's the bell. Decker close."
Cassie: "And, Brooke's up 10-9."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Same terms in the second, slow circle to the right from Stevens, but she's getting a bit more range now, getting wider, making it harder for Decker to find her with that heavy Front Street jab, and that's creating some problems for the blonde, who's not able to get her offense going as well as she did in the first..."
Cassie: "Boxing really is a game of timing and geometry, and slight changes can make a big difference in both. You're seeing that right now."
O'Dell: "Stevens really does have great feet. Very, very smooth as she turns Decker. Brooke the bigger, stronger girl, no question of that, but Amber not allowing her to bring those advantages to bear at the moment. Brooke, though, doing a little adjusting of her own right now, widening the jab, trying to herd the brunette with it."
McCarthy: "This is actually a very good tactic, one Palicki sometimes uses, though, of course, that egotist Decker is nowhere near Adrianne's league."
O'Dell: "Twenty seconds left in a competitive second round. Stevens' corner has to be happy with what it's seen so far. Amber's not looked in over her head. She's holding her own very well. Quick flurry from Decker answered by Stevens and there's the bell. Another close round. This one to Amber."
Tess: "And, we're all even at 19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Stevens right back to the slow turn, has the distance and geometry she wants, making Decker work hard to get rolling. Brooke still working the heavy left jab, and, when she can get it on, she can get the right hand in behind it and SHE DOES RIGHT THERE AND AMBER'S HURT! Stevens wobbled by that straight right!"
McCarthy: "Lucky punch! Just a lucky punch!"
O'Dell: "And, now Brooke turns it on in a big way. She's hammering away at Stevens, backing her up, thumping her to both the head and body. Amber giving ground very rapidly and now trapped on the ropes, which is absolutely not where she wants to be. But, it's definitely where Decker wants her..."
Tess: "No doubt about that, and Brooke has 'bad intentions' written all over her face."
O'Dell: "Decker patient, hooking a lot of body now, as Stevens keeps the guard high and tries to ride this out. Brooke splits the gloves with a jab and then sends sweat flying with a big right hand in behind the gloves. Stevens' legs did a shimmy, but she stays on her feet. Referee looking closely, not going to watch much more of this, but, he won't have to. Five seconds. Decker back to the body. And there's the bell. Brooklyn wide."
Cassie: "And, that puts her up 29-28, but, my guess is, she's going to spend the fourth trying to make sure we don't see the cards."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Decker going for the kill now, just as Cassie predicted. She's coming forward on Amber, who's doing little besides backing and covering. Stevens trying to get some lateral movement going, snapping out the odd jab, but the legs aren't all the way back and Decker not going to be deterred by those back-foot punches."
McCarthy: "Stevens is OK if she can get out of this round. She's shown she can box with Decker, but this is a dangerous time."
O'Dell: "And, Decker adding to that danger as she commits on everything, throwing heavy rights in behind the solid left jabs. Stevens trying to dodge, block, keeping the gloves high and THERE'S AN OVERHAND RIGHT AND DOWN GOES AMBER! Decker landed that one as clean as you can land a punch!"
Cassie (singing): "Turn out the ligggghhhhtttttssss, the party's ovvverrrrrrr...."
McCarthy: "SHUT UP, SCABBO!"
O'Dell: "Brooklyn clearly thinks Cassie's right, because she's in no hurry at all to get to a neutral corner. Referee trying to hurry her along, as is Neve Campbell, who's none to happy and letting Brooke know that. Count, meanwhile, is at three, four, five. Stevens flat and unmoving on her back. Seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO4 is 'The 21st Century Goddess', Brooklyn Decker!"
Tess: "Decker could have called an Uber, waited for it to get here, and ridden it back to Front Street and Stevens might STILL be on the canvas."
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Brooklyn Decker, and, Brooke, couple of two-way rounds, but, then you took control..."
Brooklyn: "As I've said, this was just a fight for me, nothing more. She's just an opponent. But, I owe it to my fans to come out here and give my best, no matter who the opponent might be."
Tess: "And, what's next for you?"
Brooklyn: "I have no idea what management has in mind, but I'm going to suggest it be something a bit more...interesting...than THIS."
