BEFORE: Ilary Blasi was scheduled to make her BBU debut last year already but suffered a broken jaw in a sparring fight gone wrong versus Melissa Satta. Several insiders revealed that injury wasn't all that accidental as Satta really wanted to make a statement that day and simply roughed up the fellow showgirl on purpose. But there's nowhere to hide in the ring and Ilary has learned that valuable lesson the hard way. And now she attempts a comeback which effectively carries over the rookie status because BBU doesn't recognize the amateur/pro difference.

Georgie Thompson who just witnessed the extremely brutal knockout that questioned Liz McClarnon's sanity begins to wonder if Blasi isn't made of the same wood as Elisabetta Gregoraci has emerged as the most powerful heavy-hitter last year when she racked up four undisputed victories: "She's better suited to face off versus the aforementioned Satta or Belen Rodriguez and not Mrs. Blasi based on that broken jaw nightmare. This could become even more gruesome than McClarnon's wicked demise!"

Well, apparently bad blood runs frequently in the Italian showbiz since Ilary - wife of AS Roma's living legend Francesco Totti - doesn't seem to care one bit about Elisabetta's hard punching reputation. Both women exchange heated words during the introduction - Georgie just like Sean Connery in the gypsy camp doesn't need the subtitles to figure it out - and refuse to touch gloves.

Ilary Blasi wears a crimson bikini set and yellow gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a loose bun at the back of her head. Elisabetta Gregoraci wears a turquoise bikini set and silver gloves. Long black hair straight. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division as Blasi comes in at 121 lbs on her BBU debut.

Round 1:
Elisabetta is three inches taller than her opponent and quickly establishes authority in the ring. She attacks the fellow showgirl in a ferocious manner throwing head hunting bombs left, right and center. Ilary ducks most of them but then gets wobbled by a shot that grazed the top of her forehead and has to yield real estate. Gregoraci's high-octane demeanour clearly overwhelms the blonde's defensive approach and come the second minute Blasi tries to stay out of harm's way while looping meaningless response over the top. She barely skims off the brunette's forearms before taking another big shot to the mouth that drops her back to the ropes. Elisabetta powers ahead thereafter but settles into drilling the blonde's midsection which slumps the younger woman even deeper on visibly shaken knees at the bell.

Round 2:
Ilary takes a deep breath before the second, if she thought Melissa Satta was a tough experience, she needs to adjust her pecking order ASAP according to Georgie in the booth. The reach difference makes it nearly impossible for the blonde showgirl to dominate the war of attrition that becomes evident from the early stages of the round and she doesn't have the mobility neccessary to navigate Gregoraci's aggressive stance. What follows is a repeated facial assault that literally leaves Blasi with nowhere to go other than applying the suicidal tactics of slugging it out. And that's a bad idea considering the brunette's impressive stock. She digs into Ilary's cheeks from both flanks and one has to give the younger woman some credit for soaking up so much abuse it would have folded the likes of Liz McClarnon on the spot. The national pride is on the line here and Blasi refuses to give up the ghost without significant resistance even if she ends the second round all covered up in the corner with Elisabetta piercing her guts repeatedly one more time.

Round 3:
Georgie begins to wonder how long can Ilary hang on here, sometimes it only takes one punch to derail the fastest train but the blonde simply can't find the way out of the brunette's leather frenzy and wobbles into a desperate clinch after a short close range exchange to open the third. Elisabetta reverts into the familiar ribcage pounding however fails to expose the liver area and the ref has to separate the two vixens which Ilary finds unneccessary. She takes her eye off the brunette for a split second and pays a heavy price shortly afterwards when Gregoraci whacks her across the mouth and begins to crank up the facial pressure adding lumps to the blonde's pretty looks in the proccess. Ugh! Ilary slides back to the ropes - being unable to fend off the Calabrian heat and the crowd begins to jeer at the abuse in the ring for the first time tonight. This is a bad day for all ye AS Roma fans and Gregoraci only gets more vicious as she tears a nasty patch under the blonde's left eye in the dying seconds and stuns Blasi with a quick hook to the solar plexus right at the bell. Ilary shakes her head in visible pain and needs several seconds to recover her breath. The rookie is clearly struggling here against a vastly superior opponent but at least her jaw remains in one piece.... for the time being.

Round 4:
Elisabetta moves on to resume the facial reconstruction of her visibly aching opponent, poor Ilary can't move fast enough and her guard collapses by the wayside when the brunette rocks her with a double combo on the temples. Blasi almost faceplants at her feet but just manages to hold firm, however when she tries to adjust her feet, she takes her eyes off the silver mitts and doesn't even see another drilling hook that nails her on the mouth. She scowls in native language and trips over her own feet so that Elisabetta unloads a rarely seen tonight uppercut that seamlessly finds the vulnerable jaw. Mamma mia, ILARY IS HURT!!! She winces out her loudest and leans forward with eyes closed just as the brunette throttles her breasts and lifts them against the slumping chin! BLASI HALF-SPINS TO THE SIDE AND TUMBLES DOWN ON THE CANVAS with the crowd losing all hope for a Roman glory here tonight. One doesn't get back up from Gregoraci's leather frenzy and allthough Ilary tries to postpone the ineviteable, she can only lift herself on both elbows before collapsing face down again. Even the slowest of counts from the AS Roma fan referee won't save the blonde anymore. KO4 Elisabetta Gregoraci!!!

AFTER: It's obvious Elisabetta needs a tougher opponent now if she seriously thinks of having a go at the BBU lightweight title later this year. Of course Ilary was ill-advised to accept the Calabrian test here tonight but one has to understand the national pride factor that comes ahead of common sense more often than not. But while the blonde showgirl should turn her attentions to usual second tier suspects like Berenice Marlohe or Micaela Schaefer, Georgie Thompson wonders if Gregoraci and Belen Rodriguez will actually avoid each other from now? Throw in Melissa Satta in the mix - who was signed by the Sirens as allegedly the top Mediterranean lightweight prospect - and we have a large group of contenders coming from the area. Most of their UK-based peers should become a little concerned going forward.

Meanwhile Gregoraci seems to be fine with improving her strenght of schedule; she openly calls out Elisabetta Canalis - a former Latin Union FCBA crossover artist - who's destined to make a return to Europe sometime this season following her axe from the Ariane Brodier-run stable. This should be a true model/showgirl battle royale and Georgie Thompson wants to have a front seat for that one already. The official announcement pending, Belen Rodriguez shouldn't like that match-up one bit as she rants about it on twitter several minutes after the conclusion of the BBU TV coverage.
