(Team Canada vs Free Agent)
Intro: It's now time for the main event here in Reykjavik, Iceland's Laugardalshöll arena, Karine Vanasse looks to prove any doubts about her first win over hometown hero Heidi Reed. The first fight was just two months ago and saw an early stoppage win by Karine, but there were questions over if Heidi was OK to continue and that the referee made a bad call that night. That led to Karine giving Heidi her word that she'd fight her again and that it would take place in Iceland, which Team Canada's manager Amanda Tapping was not pleased about. Career wise, the 33 year old Karine is 2 and 1 in her career, both those wins were by knockout, while the 28 year old Heidi is 0 and 2 in her career, both by referee stoppage. Since this is the first BBU main event of a card held in Iceland, both girls were seen as the poster girls for the event, touring the local cities, where Karine played the pantomime villain to Heidi's home coming hero routine. But both girls seemed at ease as they were at the same events, seen laughing and just chatting politely when they were not being interviewed for the fight. The day before the fight, both girls were interviewed in the actually ring, each slipped their heels off before they stepped into the ring, fuelling hope for journalists that we might get a preview fight before the main one. But both girls met in the ring centre and joked with each other and looked at the disappointed journalists as they hugged. Karine as the visitor was given a microphone first, the girls standing in front of each other as they were to give their speeches about the fight. "Look Heidi, you've been a great host to me, being nice as we do these meaningless press events, but we both know tomorrow is the real thing, no more talking, just me and you for pride" starts Karine as the mood between the girls finally begins to get serious. She adds "let me be clear, I agreed that the fight was finished early in our first dance, but let's be honest, I had you down and I had you beat, so this isn't a fairytale return home story babe, this is going to be a recurring nightmare OK!" Heidi nods as she stares hard into the eyes of the Canadian, both girls eyes are locked and the smiles are gone as Karine hands Reed the microphone. "Look Karine, you had me down but you should know, I never give up, I didn't run from asking for a rematch, I came right up to you remember because I know in my heart that I can beat you" starts Heidi as she steps a little closer to Karine and her future opponent is quick to take a step forward herself. "You are a good fighter and I have enjoyed our time together, but when the gloves are on and over 5 thousand people are chanting my name, I won't disappoint them for no one, especially you babe" finishes Heidi as she drops the mic off to her side and the girls go nose to nose, hands on hips as the camera flash this intense moment. After several moments of staring each other down, both girls take a step back and shake each others hands, it's a long handshake as their eyes are still locked in their death stare and only after Amanda Tapping climbs into the ring do the girls separate. Heidi steps to the corner she'll be in tomorrow and raises her fists to Karine, who nods in return and shows a small smile, both know that the fight is the important thing, not friendship or respect, just winning. Fight night, Karine comes out first, she has Nicole De Boer next to her, the Team Canada's flyweight and bantamweight training staying behind her, knowing this is her fighters night and letting the cameras fully focus on her. The crowd give her mostly boos with some cheers seemingly out of respect then actually rooting her and Karine is doing her best to block it out judging by the focus on her face. Climbing into the ring, Nicole takes off the Red Team Canada robe that Karine had on to reveal a red sports top, matching coloured shorts, shoes and gloves complete the look as she heads to her corner to finish warming up. The roof shaking cheer tells you that Heidi has arrived, her face has a beaming smile as she looks around the stands, seeing fans on their feet showing their support for their girl done good in life. After a moment, she bangs her gloves together and marches down to the ring, cameras catch Eleanor Tomlinson in the front row, cheering her best friend on as the Poldark girls support each other. After climbing into the ring, she steps into the centre of the ring to stare down Karine, as her coach takes her blue robe off to reveal a light blue sports bra, trunks and matching gloves and shoes. The girls come face to face and the stare down is electric, you'd think this was a title fight and not two women at the beginning of their careers, the atmosphere in the arena and the growing tension between the girls is just simply amazing. The referee has to shout to be heard by the fighters, who are locking eyes again and both look ready just to pounce on each other and get this started. But they keep calm enough to respectfully touch gloves when prompted and mouth "good luck" to each other, before heading to their corners. The crowd finally quiets down for a moment, a tense few seconds before the referee signals for the bell to start 10 rounds of bantamweight boxing and the crowd roar once again.
Round 1: Out come the fighters, both know each other well and the early going sees them throw more harder shots from the off then the first fight. Karine looks to be starting the quicker this time around, using her jab to set up body shots with her right, trying to wear Heidi out right away. But the hometown girl is rifling her own jab through the spaces Karine leaves behind in her guard, the punches knock back the older fighters head as the girls circle each other up on their toes. Heidi misses with a straight punch that Karine bobs out the way of and then the Canadian drives forward with a quick thrown barrage to the body of Reed. Clearly she wants to get this trip over with as quickly as possible and Heidi wraps her up in a clinch, which leads to the girls wrestling around on the ropes, snarling at each other as the competitive spirit to win is overruling any other emotions they have for each other. Separated by the referee, the girls launch themselves into a tight slugging fight, Karine landing the better punches, but not by much as the fight degenerates to a mindless brawl. The girls get tired of this and shove each other away with their left hands, the crowd roar once more when Heidi slams a hard right and left set of straight punches to rock the head of her opponent back. There looks real venom behind these girls shots as they trade in the ring centre, all that footwork going out the window for aggression. Karine again comes back at Heidi, this time landing two shots to the flanks of the Icelandic actress to cause her to groan in pain. But Heidi does manage to block a right shot up top, then lands a stiff straight to the nose of Karine as the girls separate into space, taking a quick breath before coming back in to fight. The girls trading at midrange to the bell, where both go forehead to forehead, trying to shove each other back as they stare through each other. The referee manages to calm both girls down enough to separate them, the crowd is still chanting for Heidi, who points to them and tells Karine "this is my night" The Canadian simply shakes her head to say no, then turns on the spot to head back to her corner, while Heidi glares right through her before heading to her corner. Already the coaches have to clean the girls up and try to reduce a little swelling from each girls cheeks, Heidi gets an ice pack to her body to try and soothe the pain she's getting from that barrage she received from her opponent. Round 2: The girls seem to have their heads back on, not racing in from the off as they chop punches to the others faces from midrange. Again Karine is the one to force the issue, parrying a right cross, then steps forward to land a right of her own to the ribs of Heidi. The fighters move in tight to each other to start trading to the body, but in this style of fight, Karine looks to have the patience to wear down her opponent, while Heidi misses with more of her own shots. Heidi nudges Karine back so she can find more space, then as Karine tries to race back in, she takes a right cross to the lips and then a hard left hook to knock her back a few steps. The pace of Heidi's own attack increases, letting her hands go to rifle her punches into the nose of her opponent, whose wincing and retreating to try to get a way back at Reed. But a right hook slips around the caught of a retreating Karine, whose legs go from under her and down goes the Canadian! Heidi gives her a death like stare, as if telling her to stay down, which is helped by the crowd literally chanting for her to stay down to her the cause. As the referee counts, Karine doesn't look too shook up, sitting up and watching the count, she times it to push herself up for 8 and paces side to side, wanting to even up the score it seems and Heidi wanting to get at her to finish things. Back they go at each other, Karine looking perfectly fine, clearly a flash knockdown and Vanesse is hungry for revenge this round, head down and swinging punches to the side of Heidi. Heidi lands an uppercut though to straighten up Karine, who clinches up with her, Nicole in Karine's corner clearly not happy with her. The girls separate thanks to the ref and Heidi lands two hard straights to open a cut on Karine's nose, the crowd is loving this as Vanesse is pressed to the ropes till the bell rings. Heidi jogs back to her corner, clearly thinking she's sent a message to Karine, who stares a hole right through her back, before heading to her own corner to be cleaned up and her nose fixed up. Round 3: Karine is on the defensive, flicking out her jab to force Heidi to stay back, though that isn't working as the crowd cheer each time Heidi lands her jab to the nose of her opponent. A Heidi attack though opens her up as a left hook just misses and Karine lands a hard counter shot to the body to force air from her lungs. Now Karine returns back to her front foot, fainting up top to land a three punch combo to the body of Heidi, forcing her back another few steps. Trying not to be pressed to the ropes, Heidi forcing herself into the face of Karine, both girls starting to look hurt already, the aggression they have shown has the crowd roaring, but it's Heidi's name being chanted. The girls step back slightly, taking a moment to look at each other and it's the first moment where both girls haven't looked at each other with a look of anger, more a questioning look. That passes soon enough, Karine landing a hard right into the cheek of Heidi and a straight to the body to get loud boos from the crowd. That doesn't stop her shoving Heidi towards the ropes and the Icelandic fighter has to cover up as Karine works her punches to the flanks of her opponent. With not long left in the round, Heidi fights her way off the ropes, sending some quick fire punches and maybe that second round knockdown is still lingering in the mind of the Canadian, she doesn't look keen to get caught with a lucky punch. Heidi circles away from the ropes and Karine, realising that she's let a good opportunity slip through her fingers, tries to get back at her, but is met with two punches that land straight to her nose again to cause more blood to run from it. The bell rings with Karine fuming, a great start to the round to come back at Heidi, ends with her being pressed backwards herself. As the fighters sit on their stools, they shut their eyes, letting their coaches work to heal the up for the next round, Heidi looking the cooled as Karine needs her nose cleaning up again. Round 4: The pace seems to slow down slightly, the girls stick landing through the others guard, Heidi continuing to make that cut worse on the face of Karine. Karine tries to rush forward and get back to the body of Reed, but Heidi slams two straight shots to the her cheek, disrupting her attack. The cheer starting to get louder, sensing their girl is starting to make headway, starting to knock her back around the ring. Karine lands a good right to the body of Heidi, but gets caught with a right to her cheek and then a left hook to rock her head. Heidi smiles as she steps forward purposely, not rushing to end this, knowing she has time as she slams a right to the body, followed quickly by a left hook again up top. Karine is starting to look hurt, her eyes shutting as Heidi knocks her towards the ropes, in desperation she grabs onto Heidi to clinch up, the referee is quick to separate the girls to keep the action flowing. The Canadian's legs still seem good, dancing away from trouble, but her face is becoming a mess, that cut on her nose is starting to run right down her face and now her right eye is starting to look swollen. The round soon comes to an end with Heidi pounding Karine to the ropes once more, as the bell rings, she almost dances back to her corner, as Karine shakes her head to Nicole in her own corner. Round 5: The fights lasted longer than the original, Karine is trying to make a fight of this, still landing some hard shots to Heidi. But the Icelandic fighter is simply outworking her now, when Karine hits her, Heidi comes back with two or three punches to the nose and cheeks of her opponent. Even though both were close in the build up, Heidi looks to be taking revenge for her loss in the first fight, really working hard on that right eye now and it is starting to look really swollen now. Karine won't give up, she drives under a jab from Heidi to land two straight punches to the stomach of her, the crowd look displeased, sure their fighter had this in the bag, now she's clinching though, her eyes shut as her breathing is getting quicker. The Team Canada girl is clearly hoping that her early body work is going to give her a chance to get back into this fight. Heidi's body is starting to look sore, red marks litter it as the girls break and start trading up top, Karine digging her feet in more ways then one. The girls both rock each other with their punches, but a desperate shot from Karine misses and Heidi lands an uppercut to put her opponent back on her heels. The noise in the arena returns to the volume it was before as Heidi punishes Karine back to the ropes once more, lighting her up top with cross punches. Karine covering up and the bell rings to end with the referee watching closely, looking like she's been let off there as Heidi stares down hard into the face of Karine, seeing the damage she has done and almost looking guilty for a moment, before wiping that away from her mind and heading to her corner. Karine meanwhile looks at the ceiling, thinking to herself "how can I win this?" Trying to piece it together as Nicole works on her cut. Round 6: Karine looks out of answers, she's covering up a lot more and letting Heidi come onto her, taking two hard shots to her sides doesn't exactly help as she groans out in pain. The girls exchange two stiff shots each, till a right hook lands to the top of Karine's cheek, turning her head and a left puts her down to her back! Karine opens her eyes for a second, looking to ceiling once more, this time on her back though and as she tries to push herself up at 6, she groans in pain, her eyes shutting as she makes it to all fours, but hasn't the strength to beat the count, as the referee reaches 10 and this fight is over.
Winner: Heidi Reed KO Round 6
After: Heidi drops to her knees, her emotions washing over her as she finally wins in the young BBU career, it's made even more sweeter to be in her hometown to do it. Karine finally gets the strength to push herself to her knees, the girls stare hard at each other, till Heidi pushes herself over to her and offers her glove out to show respect. While this loss hurts, she doesn't feel any hatred for Heidi, in fact she has a small smile as she bumps her glove with the offered one. The crowd applauds for both girls, if Karine had won would this be the reaction? Probably not but it's still a heartfelt moment. In Heidi's corner stands Eleanor as Nicole De Boer comes over and both chat about their friends and smile as they see Heidi looking almost apologetic, glove touching the swollen cheek and near the eye of Karine. Who in return jokes "so that means you owe me a decider" to which Heidi replies "haha maybe, maybe I need to see other women" Both girls giggling as Karine says "so you're dumping me for other girls" and the girls continue joking as they sit on the canvas, looking as if they are having a slumber party then after a fight. The referee is the one who breaks it up, telling the girls that the live feed is coming to an end and the organisers need them to hurry up. Heidi helps Karine up as the result is announced and Heidi is giving a microphone to speak to her loving fans. "First I want to say thank you to Karine, she did what a lot of people wouldn't do and give me a second bite at the cherry, so can you please give her a round of applause!" Asks Heidi as the crowd does as asked and Karine almost tears up. "I have fought two girls I think very highly of in my first three fights, now I have that win to show I can do this, so whose next!" Roars Heidi as the crowd cheer her. She thanks the crowd and tells them "even though I'm not a team Canada girl, I'm inviting them and our of course Eleanor to my party I'm planning tonight at my home here" The girls in the ring all smile at each other and it's a very rare sight as the girls all leave the ring together, going to get Jessica Lucas too so they can go celebrate each persons success and even give Karine a good time even with this loss.
