Sophia Bush versus Jennifer Love Hewitt

 Pre-fight:
After two successful fights in January, Sophia Bush is straight back into the ring mid-February to take on veteran Jennifer Love Hewitt in the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
Jennifer is another former title holder, though that was a few years ago now, she has the experience though, and she believes, the talent, to slow the streaking Sophia.
“You know, I remember when Sophia was a fresh new face back in 2005,” Jennifer mused. “I’d already had one title by the time she debuted. That was 12 years ago now, and she has just finally grabbed herself the JMD title." "I’ve won it on three separate occasions. I guess she’s just a late bloomer. She won’t want to bloom late in this fight, or I’ll have her eating through a straw by round three.”
“So what if she was JMD champ three times?” Sophia blurted defensively to reporters. “Firstly, that was like ten years ago. Secondly, this is not a JMD fight. Then again, maybe I’ll remind her who was most recently the JMD champ. Look, I have heaps of respect for Jen, but she’s had her time. I’m taking mine now, and it will be an honor to sit her down in the name of my epic comeback.”

Round 1:
Jennifer Love Hewitt looks the more settled and focused in the first round. Sophia furiously swinging mid-hooks for Jen’s famous bounty
But Hewitt covering and moving well and snapping the jab successfully into Bush’s face, reddening those cute cheeks, making her look even more flustered.
Sophia wizens up and settles, playing it a little smarter and cooler by mid-round, maybe having blown off the appropriate amount of steam through the first couple of unsuccessful minutes.
Bush still struggling to find her rhythm even late in the round and Hewitt is doing a lot of successful counter-jabbing, and still getting those cheeks red and rosy.
The pair take a seat after the first with Sophia’s redder face telling the story. She was working harder and taking more leather to her cheeks in that one. Not an efficient or successful start at all for the comeback queen. Hewitt seems to be calmer, and in control, at least early.
Round 2: Bush calmer to start the second round and it serves her well, now easing into a little rhythm and shuffling better around the ring. Hewitt’s jab finding less head and the hooks are easily stifled out by a strong Bush guard, that slightly clearer, more patient head making a huge difference via little tweaks that see the whole game come together.
Sophia now snaps a few tasty left jabs into Jennifer’s face and there is a trickle of blood from the right nostril of Hewitt by mid-round.
Jen scores a couple of jabs back, but the reply hook to jug has Hewitt reeling and angry, Sophia finding extra shots now.
Jen often getting a reply in, but it’s weaker or less effective than the initial blows, Bush moving well, getting hit far less in this round, and now Hewitt takes a seat the signs of more wear on her body than her opponents as the tables turn.
Round 3:
Hewitt frustrated as she is forced to guard the body for a lot of the third round, and even the counter attempts are evaded by Bush with some great body movement.
Sophia apparently finding some rhythm now after a shaky first, perhaps jitters from her Australian tour debut, Hewitt far too experienced for those kinds of nerves, still seems solid, even while Sophia finds her groove, blocking keenly and not allowing Bush to get on top of her.
It’s a tight round, both boxers showing tremendous defensive technique and tenacity, and it’ll end in a draw, with both ladies plopping into their corners with some slow, deliberate breathing and the cool towels keeping them from overheating.
Hewitt perhaps looking more fidgety and frustrated, having to steel her guard for that round instead of get some momentum back, though both look ready to rock and roll in the fourth, and the crowd sounds equally eager.
Round 4:
Jen letting that bottled anger and frustration boil over in the fourth, and she gets some heavy leather work into Sophia’s face, reddening those pretty cheeks and opening up a cut above the now lumpy left brow. Soph trying to hit back up high, but Jen able to sidestep the shot, and as Bush lunges past, Hewitt slams a glove into the centre of Sophia’s plump right jug, getting a mighty howl and a fun jiggle for the crowd and cameras.
Hewitt loving life as she has her way with popular Bush, getting the crowd on their feet as she batters the cutie with sharp crosses to face and heavy hooks to ribs and jugs.
Sophia trying valiantly to put the jab back into Jen’s face, but she’s countered at most turns, leaving the gorgeous ABC favorite bruised and miserable by the time she flops onto her seat after the fourth.
Hewitt getting her way in the fourth and now having done all the right things to work away her frustration. She still looks fit and healthy, and for the most part her opponent looks fit, though much worse for wear now. Bush’s bleeding brow getting tended to by the cut men in her corner, though there isn’t an awful lot they can do for the shiner just below her other eye.
Round 5:
Sophia with some serious work to do after that dominating fourth round from wiley Hewitt, but she is slow out of the gate and looking slightly tentative as Hewitt pushes through some jabs to face, trying to re-establish control after the break. Hewitt keen to build the momentum further in her favour, forcing the leather into Bush’s high guard, almost busting through it.
But, Sophia is strong, and the brawling beauty takes a chance dropping the guard to dip and slam leather into Jen’s tight tummy.
It works, Hewitt’s fist sailing just over Bush’s, perhaps displacing a hair, and Sophia’s fist buries deep into the breadbasket of crowd favorite Hewitt, lurching her forward for a tasty Bush uppercut that rips her right jug high into the air at the gasps of the crowd, and then another follow up uppercut bangs under Jen’s chin, staggering the legendary beauty.
And just like that the momentum trades sides, Sophia now running with it, looking in charge and sure of herself, and Jen desperate with the guard, frazzled, jugs jumping, tummy reddening. Sophia is banging away at the body and Jennifer is starting to slump into the ropes.
When the bell goes, Soph takes her time, but not gingerly, to her corner, and Jen actually gives herself a moment before making the trek.
Even when she does shuffle across she’s holding tummy and looking forlorn, not great signs for Hewitt after a heavy-handed fifth from the surprisingly powerful Bush.
Round 6:
Sophia looking a little peppier now, and she comes right after Jennifer, who is holding the guard a little lower than the handbook suggests.
Clearly those puppies are sore, but Sophia’s had enough of those, now happy to take less guarded face and she does.
Hewitt mewling as Bush slams the leather straight into the centre of beautiful Jennifer face, opening the lip and staggering her on her feet.
Hewitt with an attempt at a reply, but Sophia able to duck the high hook, belt a left into Jen’s side, then careen an uppercut straight up under Hewitt’s chin once more.
Jen is flopping backwards, arms flailing out at her sides, she’s still standing. So, Sophia charges in and stamps a fist into tummy, doubling Jennifer over with a gush of breath and bouncing her on the spot, butt out in ropes, puppies almost leaping out of her top.
Jen is lurched forward, and Sophia slams a left hook straight into her ear, belting Hewitt to her left, tipping straight over to the mat on her side.
Sophia is beaming, she knows that was a solid hit, and Hewitt is groaning, barely moving on the canvas as the official begins the count.
Jennifer does try to push herself up, but she’s still horizontal, and on the canvas, with not the strength left in those legs to comply.
The count finds number ten, and that’s it folks, we have a winner. Sophia Bush, KO6!

Post-fight:
“Yes!” Sophia exclaims, clearly ecstatic and soaking in the Melbourne crowd. “God it feels great to be winning.
"F*** knows why I couldn’t have done this ten years ago, but hey, better late than never, right? Thanks to Jen for a tough fight, I knew she’d be a top competitor, I mean she has been for a much longer time than I"
"I've got a lot of respect for her, and I’m very proud to get that one, alright, I’m outta here to celebrate Melbourne style, come at me Australia!”
Bush wins her third on the year in a matter of two months, and the counter is that Hewitt loses her sixth in a row, though all to good opposition and it appears Bush is no exception.
The streaking comeback queen is on a four fight win streak since losing her JMD title last November.
Hewitt obviously not the picture of confidence and glee that Bush was post-fight, but certainly still with faith that she has the goods.
“It’s rough taking another loss,” Jennifer admits, “but I probably should have paid her a little more respect, not to take anything away from her" "Apparently she simply is a late bloomer, I dunno where she’s been hiding for ten years, but welcome back Soph, I know the real deal when I see it"
"Having said that, don’t expect to beat me next time and yes, there’s every chance of a next time."
"I felt pretty good out there, and I know I’ve still got a lot left to give. I’ll be back on top, I’ll get there; I just might have to learn a few new tricks. But hey, if Sophia can learn them… I’ll get there.”
