7. Clara Alonso vs Micaela Schaefer (Tech Europe)

Before: A curious match-up coming up with the devilish Spaniard, Clara ‘Conquistador’ Alonso, going one-on-one with the German model and television personality, Micaela Schaefer. Schaefer of course eager to prove that she’s still a relevant force in the BBU but her record speaks volumes of her ‘success’ as Clara is quick to point out in her thick Spanish accent: “She’s only won *one* match, out of the other ten she’s been in. We call that a 90% disaster rating.”

“That’s ten more fights than you’ve been in, b*tch,” Micaela replies in a heavy German accent of her own, the model relying on her experience from those losses to pave the way to another victory this match.

Round 1: Bell rings and we’re off! Immediately, the difference between both fighters becomes apparent: leaner and meaner Clara running in circles around the heavier-set German girl, bothering her with frequent jabs that land on skin. The heavier Micaela having trouble swatting away this pesky fly as her body becomes a favourite target due to the fact of just more surface area. To her credit, Schaefer defends her head well enough, negating any sort of power those quick punches of Clara can do to her, but the more annoying punches that land stiffly on her body and chest are more difficult to block and her heavy, slow-moving counter hooks seem to love hitting the air instead of Clara. Clara certainly makes a name for herself in this debut match, showing off her fancy footwork and ability to control her opponent’s.

Round 2: Micaela growling and trying to bull-rush her opponent, perhaps sick and tired of getting no hits in. The German waits for opportune moment, just as Clara is trapped between her and ropes, and charges in swinging - Micaela’s gloves come hard and fast, surprisingly Clara early on as they land on the Spaniard’s guard, the force of which throwing her body visibly to the right and left, but thankfully not doing much else damage to Alonso. Clara still a ball of energy, recovers from initial shock to dance away now, more wary of what her opponent is capable of doing. Clara defensively toys with her foe thereafter, snapping crisp jab into Micaela’s face each time she back-pedals out of harm’s way. Another clear round for Clara as she outboxes Schaefer, but we hope the success doesn’t get to her head...

Round 3: Clara the epitome of focus and concentration - she’s panting slightly now but has no trouble getting up from stool. Micaela, however, already slowing down, her big-size seemingly a disadvantage in this match-up. Early in the first minute, Clara almost gets caught with a surprise, big right hand that Micaela lets fly hoping to catch the Spaniard off-guard, but Clara weaves to the side at last minute as it sails past, only glancing against her ear. Clara shoots a left-right-left combo straight up into Schaefer’s tummy in response, drumming fists against her body and taking what she can before cautiously moving back out of harm’s way again - apparent assault on the German beauty too much for Schaefer to bear - big girl sinks slowly down to her knees hugging her midsection! An early knockdown for Clara Alonso!! Crowd is half-shocked, half-sympathetic, but Micaela manages to gingerly struggle her way back up to her feet by the count of 7.

However, pattern repeats itself at least twice more, with Clara now hitting stinging left crosses that slam into Schaefar’s nose and upper lip. A couple more near misses have the SIRENs’ corner screaming for Clara to pay more attention. The Siren wisely obeys by dancing out of the way and creating more space and Schaefer is left panting, hunched over at the bell, driblets of red flowing down from one nostril, staining the canvas at her feet. It certainly doesn’t look good for the German model at this stage...

Round 4: Micaela is slow-moving out of corner, and Clara is eager to rush in to finish, but remembers advice from her trainers that it might be a trap, and even if it wasn’t, it wouldn’t be wise to stand and brawl with someone as well-endowed as Micaela. Instead, Clara carries on what she’s been doing, peppering the brunette’s weak defences with her long jab, exploiting any loopholes she finds, and Micaela simply doesn’t have any answer to Clara’s offense. Well, it might not be exciting, ladies and gentlemen, but it sure is effective if it wins a girl a match. Another combination of jabs to her head followed with repeated drumming of chest and tummy, and once again the German beauty falls down to her knees in a second knockdown of the match! Clara still has energy to raise a fist to acknowledge the cheering crowd.

3...4… Micaela having difficult now with rising back up. She does so more slowly now from all fours. Clara breathing deeply in neutral corner, knows she has this and shouldn’t be rash now.

7...8… Micaela pushing herself back up and stands on shaky feet, the cuts to her lip now opening up again and staining the white canvas below her.

But the fight has to continue - referee waves it back on, and Clara comes forward slowly, poking fist again in Micaela’s rapidly swelling eye and cheek, beating on her as Schaefer is forced back bit-by-bit until her butt stuck to the ropes, and STILL, Clara doesn’t rush in immediately, wary of her foe’s powerful swings that continue to fire in her direction like dangerous booby-traps. Rather, Clara surgically and methodically pokes through the German’s defences, battering on her foe, until the referee has no choice but to stop the match as the German’s face is now almost completely swollen and let’s not forget, dripping all over with flecks of blood from Alonso’s targeted torture. Immediately, however, the crowd reacts to the TKO stoppage, especially Schaefer herself, who starts protesting that she still wants to fight and continue, with both her gloves still raised up, but the referee is adamant about her safety and waves for the bell.

Of course, we here definitely agree with the referee’s decision: Micaela was certainly getting knocked up and those cuts to her face might have gotten worse, with the bleeding already so bad that her face looked like a cut watermelon. Clara Alonso however elated regardless of the way she won tonight, being escorted on her stablemates’ shoulders back to the locker room whilst leaving a steaming Micaela attended to by various cut-men in the ring, pondering what the hell went wrong and whether this was truly the end of her stint in boxing.
