Hayden Panettiere vs. Jenna Louise Coleman
(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

Coleman usually has plenty of snark for her opponents, but, it's a bit muted this time around. The brunette knows who she's dealing with, and it isn't Kendra Wilkinson in JMD. "Hayden is," says Jenna with a nod, "About as good as it gets in this division. But, let us not forget that I've already beaten top flyweights like Carter and Portman. I can beat Hayden, too, and that's just what I'll do."

"There's no question Jenna's a top flyweight," says Hayden with a nod of her own. "Just because she's fought a lot of JMD lately doesn't change the fact that she's beaten twelve of her last fourteen opponents. That being said, none of those opponents were ME."

ROUND ONE:

Coleman may have shown Hayden respect in the post-fight, but she's not toning down her normal early aggressiveness on account of the quality of the blonde in front of her. Jenna coming forward bobbing and weaving, wants to mix it up early. Hayden more than willing to play this game, but, by her rules. She wants to box, and she makes that happen. She's in constant motion. Feet, hands, head, shoulders. She's feinting, jab stepping, showing the brunette all kinds of looks but not much to hit. And, it's not that Jenna doesn't try. The work rate in this first round is up there for both fighters. But, neither lands a high percentage. Jenna's not getting leather home because Hayden simply isn't where the brunette expects her to be, while Panettiere's low percentage is mostly because much of what she's throwing is preemptive, designed to put the brunette in spots where what she actually wants to get home will land. The result is a close round that goes to the blonde, who simply gets more touches than the lovely Brit.

ROUND TWO:

High work rate continues, with both fighters a bit more accurate this time. Both settling in, getting in a bit of a rhythm, and boxing well. Again, though, it's Hayden's slickness that's the key. Coleman spends too much time trying and failing to find, allowing the blonde to slowly gain the edge on the cards. To her credit, the brunette sticks with it, doesn't get frustrated, doesn't get sloppy. But, Panettiere, once again, is proving to be the better boxer of the two. Not by leaps and bounds, mind. And, it's not like Hayden isn't a better boxer than 99 percent of the division. But, all of that is cold comfort to Jenna, who knows what's happening here and can't get anything done about it. Still, she's keeping it close, even if she's coming out second best. Again, cold comfort, especially when the bell sounds and the blonde has grabbed her second straight close, edging out to a 20-18 lead.

ROUND THREE:

Coleman decides to change terms. And, the way she does it raises more than a few eyebrows. Jenna comes forward and goes RACK in a big way on the blonde. And, that quickly, this thing becomes an unofficial JMD bout, because, Hayden responds in kind, and, before long, we're in the trenches digging body and working the bikini tops like Coleman's not fighting Panettiere, but Keegan or Wilkinson. To her credit, Hayden doesn't shy away from this kind of action, but it's Jenna who gets the better of things, taking control of the fight, backing Hayden up, and generally abusing the contents of her bikini top. The blonde gets some work in, too, but she's simply not as effective as the brunette Brit, who's in control from the moment the terms change until the final bell. Well. A few seconds PAST the final bell, since the fighters just keep on thumping one another when it rings, forcing the referee to shove them apart and order them back to their corners. It's Coleman wide, and she's cut the lead to 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Jug mugging continues for a second round, but, now, Hayden's adjusting to terms and giving as good as she gets. And, she's getting plenty. This is nasty stuff in there, with not just jug but the rest of the legal parts of the body getting a serious going over from both fighters. Meanwhile, upstairs doesn't exactly get neglected. The fighters work up, then back down, and, sometimes work both head and body in combination. The work rate is high. The accuracy percentages are off the charts. Everybody's landing hard stuff, and both fighters are beginning to feel the effects. There's plenty of wincing going on, especially as a result of the jug work, and, late in the round, there's a lot of clinching as both fighters look like needing a respite. Again, though, things don't stop at the bell and the referee has to separate the fighters. It's close again to Hayden, who's now up 39-37.

ROUND FIVE:

Back to the grind in the fifth. Coleman's initial successes in forcing a change in terms now a distant memory, as two-way action continues down in the trenches. Both fighters again effective working both body and head and punishing as much rack as possible in the process. Then, everything changes as Coleman digs a vicious right into Hayden's left jug, then STAGGERS her with a nasty follow on combination! Panettiere is HURT! The blonde quickly covers up and the brunette calls in artillery strike after artillery strike. Coleman clearly knows she's got a huge opportunity in front of her, and she's not going to waste it. Instead, she fires everything she has at the blonde, driving her to the ropes and working her over. Hayden, however, hangs on, fires back as best she can, and runs out the clock on the Brit. At the bell, though, it's Coleman wide and the cards read 48-47, Panettiere.

ROUND SIX:

Coleman tries to press the advantage. And EATS AN EARLY RIGHT HAND FROM HAYDEN! Coleman GOBSMACKED from a brilliant straight right, stumbling around the ring and nearly going down as Panettiere lets loose with a volley of hard shot that sends the Brit into the ropes, which may be the only thing holding her up. Hayden absolutely going OFF on Coleman now, pounding her to the bust line to try to bring the guard down. Jenna keeping it up, but screaming into her gloves as she takes an absolute PASTING to the body from a fired up blonde. Panettiere realizing she's not going to drop the guard DOUBLES DOWN on the body work, hammering away with both hands to every legal inch of Coleman, looking to break her down and maybe win this thing to the body. And, she's not far from doing it. Referee looking in closely, not going to watch much more of this kind of beat down. Fortunately for the Brit, however, the bell sounds before he takes matters into his own hands. It's Hayden wide, though, and she's back up by two, 58-56.

ROUND SEVEN:

Grim stuff early for Jenna. Hayden all over her, working body, backing her up, tenderizing as much jug as she possibly can. Coleman still trying to get the legs back, keeping the guard high, countering in spots. Slowly, the Brit stabilizes her front and begins firing back, and from there, it's all about digging body on both sides. Blonde and brunette bang away in close, thumping ribs and belly, and, of course, since that Rubicon has been crossed, banging away at the bikini top. By the final minute, Coleman's back in the round as things proceed on a fairly even back and forth pace, and, in that final minute, Jenna gets it going, backing up the blonde with a pair of sharp flurries, then stepping forward to get right back to working body. Again, the referee is forced to jump between the fighters at the bell, and, when it sounds, Coleman's managed to grab the round close and cut Hayden's lead to 67-66.

ROUND EIGHT:

Right back into the phone booth for the two flyweights. Both blonde and brunette determined to break the other down to the body, but, the problem is, these bodies don't break easily. So, despite all the investment on both sides, neither fighter is failing or even slowing down. Both are maintaining a high work rate despite all the punishment their respective chassis Things are on even terms through the first two minutes, with the fighters again paying more attention to the downstairs than the upstairs. Then, everything changes with one punch. It's a brutal short right hook from Coleman that lands on the left cup of Panettiere's bikini top. The punch freezes the blonde and Jenna immediately follows with a five-punch flurry to the head and DOWN GOES HAYDEN! Panettiere crashes to her back, eyes closed, as Coleman heads to a neutral corner and the referee begins the count. Hayden manages to roll to her belly as it goes on, but she can make it no further. She's OUT and it's OVER and your winner by KO8 is Jenna Louise Coleman!

AFTER:

Coleman plenty intense in the post-fight. "She came into MY house," the brunette fairly spits. "She stood in there and tried to go JMD with me, and there's only one way that was going to end for her, exactly the way it did. Her on her back and me with my arm raised!"
