BBU INTERNATIONAL MINI-CARD FROM ROME

BEFORE: We kick off the action with one of the most promising Italian upstarts Martina Stella going up against the very unfortunate fellow actress Elizabeth Tan. The blonde girl has knocked out Liz McClarnon in impressive fashion last month and BBU TV's Kate Abdo reckons her tonight's task is even easier as Tan is yet to record a victory in five attempts and has gone past the third round just once. Most of the fans believe the Asian-Brit is just about the worst active bantamweight around but apparently the appearance fee from the Italians was tempting enough for the former Girls Friday member to give it another go tonight.

Martina Stella wears a navy blue bikini set and black gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Elizabeth Tan wears a lacy black basque top with red trim, red knickers and matching red gloves. Long black hair tied in a curly ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Elizabeth's glass jaw reputation apparently is no mystery in the Mediterranean as Martina shows the fellow actress no respect whatsoever and begins to gallop some heavy punches upstairs that immediately put the brunette on her heels and trying to stay out of trouble. She responds with a weak jabbing set that makes no impression on the blonde whatsoever and allows Martina to push her hapless foe back to the ropes quickly as the Italian crowd smells a winning parade already. Martina gets carried away a little though, she has the brunette all covered up on the ropes but the sheer amount of leather doesn't result in a swift Tan downfall and the English girl actually manages to clinch the Italian which buys her valuable time. Stella gets annoyed in the clinch and blasts a drilling set on the ribcage however she catches the right forearm too often and Elizabeth wraps her left arm in a lenghty hold, even the referee can't enforce some clean action and the final minute of the round is all about Tan's efforts to avoid proper boxing display.

Round 2:
Martina's lack of experience allowed Elizabeth to survive the opening round which is quite an achievement for the English lass already but she can only hang on as long as possible and the blonde's aerial attack cashes in early in the second when she dissects the high guard and snaps the brunette's back & forth repeatedly in the center of the ring. Tan drops back to her heels and remains stranded with no place to go as Stella ups the tempo of her attacks and soon hands the brunette visible swelling around the lips. Elizabeth groans in her efforts to tame the onslaught but she needs to use her feet to work around Stella's uptempo swinging and she just can't do that whatsoever which ends in a predictable retreat towards the turnbuckle. In fact, Martina has pretty much pounded her rival back there and while she keeps snapping Tan's dark ponytail around, she simply can't send her down on the boards. She runs out of gas inside the final thirty seconds and another clinching stalemate allows the British actress to survive this tough ordeal. It's too early to predict the upset though as the blonde from Tuscany remains on top of her hapless opponent and it's only a matter of time before she breaks Elizabeth's resilience.

Round 3:
More Italian swinging upstairs keeps Elizabeth wary of the haymaker threat but she actually tries to stick some jabs in the blonde's body and stays in the close range tussle for the best part of the opening minute until Martina clubs her with a left hook on the temple and follows it up with a bruising uppercut on the chin. Ugh! Tan's worst nightmares are very much alive now as she sinks on her knees on the spot and drops her gloves with Stella BLASTING her on the lips with a left cross! AND DOWN GOES THE BRITISH BABE... Three clean strikes finally expose Elizabeth's biggest weakness and she just can't stay up on her feet anymore. However she's determined not to exit the challenge in such a woeful manner and springs back upright at six... Kate Abdo thinks she would be better off catching some extra respite but Martina smells blood here now and lashes out from both sides to club immediate leather upstairs that drive the aching brunette back to the ropes... Stella is hell bent to destroy the wounded prey and that's what the audience anticipated from the word go here, poor Elizabeth can't keep her guard high enough anymore and it's business as usual for the ex-Girl Friday - she gets battered into a stupor during the second minute and the referee is cruel enough to allow the blonde to knock her lights out! Ugh! Tan succumbs to the relentless pounding when a left/right cross nails her on the nose AND SLIDES DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE in the corner. Everyone inside the Palaogliata realizes there's no way back from this and the ref quickly raises the blonde'a arm to indicate her second career victory! KO3 Martina Stella!!!

AFTER: That's indeed two quick victories in a row for the Tuscany blonde however Kate Abdo thinks that Martina will have to move up the food chain soon if she's to become a regular BBU contender. The bantamweight division is somewhat undermanned in the Mediterranean with most of Stella's compatriots camped in the lightweight but there are enough TV soap opera fighting options in the UK with the only question being whether the luscious blonde is ready to make her move from Rome to the more familiar BBU venues of Cardiff, London or Liverpool soon enough?

Meanwhile there's just no love for Elizabeth's boxing effort, she avoided another opening round disaster but remains one of the most hittable BBU performers and Kate Abdo wonders if she could beat any of these flyweights let alone break her lousy streak at 120 lbs. Diana Vickers' 0-10 record is very much under threat if Elizabeth doesn't pick up a management who can steer her terrible career back on tracks soon.

Final result: Martina Stella def. Elizabeth Tan KO3.
