Selena Gomez vs Michelle Williams

BEFORE: The Hawkeye's Hall Of Famer celebrates a very special milestone tonight - she becomes only the fourth fighter in the FCBA history to enter the ring exactly 200 times. The other three are Charlize Theron, Danielle Fishel and Gena Lee Nolin. Given such a veteran presence all-around, it's perhaps surprising to learn that Selena Gomez is indeed the fighter who wants to spoil Mishy's anniversary party - after all she's a member of the next generation and very much the future of the FCBA. Selena herself calls this opportunity a turning point of her career - and the true twilight of Michelle's who has enjoyed more comebacks than Michael Jordan during her otherwise legendary career.

Selena Gomez wears a turquoise bikini set and white gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Michelle Williams wears a white basque top, red knickers and matching red gloves. Shoulder lenght blonde hair straight. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.

Round 1:
Both women don't waste much time in stalking each other in close range however it's difficult for any of them to secure an early break-through and instead the audience is treated with a hectic display of boxing passion that bares little success. Selena's more determined to teach the older woman a thing or two about her improved status but Mishy respects no one around this league and still believes she could match Charlize Theron's all-time greatness if she only competed in a heavier division. She soaks up all the close range pressure that Gomez throws at her and responds with a late overhand rally that snaps the youngster's head back and forces a bit of daylight between the two competitors at the bell.

Rounds 2 & 3:
Several pundits believe that Selena's quick footwork will cause the Hall of Famer plenty of trouble but the brunette seems keen to dominate the close range stand-off and loops repeated strikes against the blonde's body which drops Williams into shutdown mode. Single punches in response fail to tame the brunette's drive however Selena lacks the big punch to pin her opponent onto the ropes and has to accept the gruesome slugging affair while Mishy leans on her and shows how resistant she is against such a determined demeanour. The days of Vanessa Hudgens sending her into retirement are long gone and for every drilling hook from Gomez, Mishy responds with a body strike of her own. Both girls repeatedly threaten to land an accidental head-butt before getting tangled up in a feisty clinch but the ref allows them to solve their dispute on their own and the crowd really loves that attitude!

Round 4:
Mishy finalls beats the youngster for the initial punch and swings more hooks over the top; one of them nails Selena on the ear and briefly drops her on the heels but the Hall of Famer doesn't need another invitation and clobbers the immobile brunette between the arms and connects with her chest. Apparently Gomez still finds it difficult to embrace a lenghty jug-busting assault and she yields the real estate as the blonde hammers in more vicious uppercuts to come away on top of that important exchange. Selena struggles to find her feet afterwards and fails to embrace the blonde's attacks properly which sends her butt-in-ropes come the final minute; Williams really thrives in her stalking ordeal when she harpoons the brunette's ribcage and makes the Lioness youngster moan when she drills the navel for a good measure. Ugh! Selena's clinching efforts are somewhat desperate in the dying seconds and Mishy gives her a really long stare at the bell indicating the stuff is only about to get real now!

Round 5:
Sure enough, Mishy means business from the word go in the fifth; several pundits reckon she's given the Hispanic actress plenty of time to excel in this bout and now it's the turn of some Hall Of Fame magic instead. She ducks undernath a looping approach and SLAMS left hook into Selena's breasts before adding a quick uppercut on the jaw... Gomez's guard drops badly and a stinging left hook clobbers the ear SENDING THE BRUNETTE DOWN ON HER BACK!!! Whoa! That's some way to celebrate your 200th career fight! Selena is no more shocked about the sudden knockdown than most of the audience but it will take another combo like that to truly put her away! She beats the count at six and barks in anger at the older actress which indicates an imminient revenge is on the cards... however Mishy's seen it all before and charges at the annoyed brunette so the crowd is soon treated with a royal flyweight bash; both women groan in their efforts to take the other one down but if Mishy lands another combo like she did moment earlier, this could spell real trouble for the Lioness challenger. Williams fails to break through on the body though and succumbs to the head hunting pursuit instead, Selena is perhaps fortunate to land a heavy left/right combo on the temples before blasting the blonde on the nose. Mishy has round effectively sealed so she thinks better off it but Gomez hammers her back to the ropes with another ultra-accurate hook on the nose and then catches the Hall Of Famer with a low shot on the liver area! Ugh! Mishy bends forward with a loud scream and Gomey cranks it up on the spot, she unloads a flurry of jabs and tears the skin on the blonde's left cheek before landing another shot on the solar plexus and suddenly it's all gone horribly wrong for the veteran who loses her breath and HAS TO TAKE A KNEE amid a lenghty scowling disarray. Selena's face has turned almost full red during that pursuit and it's clear she reached the absolute top of her skills in order to turn the tables on the anniversary kid here. The clock has expired during the referee's count and Mishy is clearly annoyed that she allowed to let a huge 10-8 round slip right at the death. BLONDE! Magazine's lead reporter begins to wonder whether it tells more about the Hall Of Famer or about the Lioness Club's designated Beta fighter?

Round 6 & 7:
That titanic fifth round took a lot of sting out of both these hellcats and they bide her time during the next six minutes, seemingly gathering energy for one last push that should ultimately tip the bout into someone's favor. It's more than understandable tactics, Mishy's been through countless gruesome ten rounders before and Selena's grown into a dangerous floater at her very prime right now so she doesn't lose her temper even if the bleeding under Williams' eye makes it very tempting to further explore it and possibly force a medical stoppage. That's the difference between wannabe upstarts and wiley veterans, allthough Selena is still light years away from Michelle's career status, she's gained a reputation of sticking to her own plan and really doesn't lose her temper without a good reason. Sitting behind Jessica Lowndes on the Lioness in-house pecking order must be way more frustrating for the Texas native than anything Williams has thrown at her tonight!

Round 8:
We're ready to resume the classic flyweight stalking and Michelle raises the bets first firing over the top and looking to rattle the brunette in the ear one more time. Gomez has complete faith in her defiance but gets picked off in the heated tangle a little too often for comfort and tries to circle back through the other side and settle down in mid distance for the first time tonight. That's a dubious change of plans but Mishy's got it covered and beats the younger opponent for a right-on-right exchange that snaps Gomey's head back and drops her on the heels. She tries to swing back from the inferior position but Williams finds another heavy hook on the lips and half-spins the brunette to the side where she drills her glove into the liver area and makes the Latin girl yelp in pain. She pummels her back to the turnbuckle with an injection of jabbing pace and delivers more body assault with stinging hooks looped around Selena's elbows. As defiant as the Lioness vixen is, she slumps on the turnbuckle at the bell and looks a little lost in the eyes; she then basically ignores LCA coach Claudia Schiffer's pep talk during the interval.

Round 9:
There's not much time left for Selena to make amends for that poor previous round and she jumps into a blonde blitz simply because she doesn't have any other choice, Michelle takes full advantage of her foe's all-in approach and beats her for a clubbing combo on the lips before spinning the dark brown ponytail around Selena's neck with a thunder of a punch! Ugh! That shot hit the Texas girl on the left eye and really sinks the defiance boat as Gomez rolls down the windows with her arms before trying to escape to the right... but one doesn't give the Hall of Famer an opportunity like that and Mishy puts all her might and experience into BLASTING a monster hook on the mouth that sends the brunette's gumshield flying off into the stands!!! That should make the Boxing World Online headlines next!!! GOMEZ HITS THE TIMBER MODE and collapses on her side with eyes closed and my oh my, the ref waves it off on the spot!!! KO9 Michelle Williams in rocket-punch fashion!!!

AFTER: That was simply marvellous from the Hall of Famer who makes her 200th career fight a moment to remember for the ages! Even the neutral fans must applaud Mishy's stubborn demanour & execution that eventually chopped down one of the most promising flyweights around the globe! The likes of Vanessa Hudgens and Jessica Lowndes will be LIVID with that result but the fact remains that Michelle Williams is probably the second greatest fighter ever to grace the FCBA-sanctioned ring. Turning 37 in September is ancient-old in the division where the elite fighters rarely see the north side of 30 these days and perhaps Michelle wouldn't have kept the desire alive if she wasn't so close to breaking the second ton milestone. Can she make another run at the flyweight straps? That's a totally different matter and many pundits and fans believe the new generation fighters would prefer to shut the Montana native down from further harrassing the 110 lbs division. However Selena Gomez wasted a golden opportunity to derail the Mishy hype train tonight and one can only wonder if anyone else has a better opportunity to do that in the foreseeable future.
