Joo Minhee versus Summer Glau

(Words: WW / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE: Bantamweight competition tonight is tight; the upcoming and undefeated Joo Minhee versus the experienced and slightly rusty Summer Glau. Summer is a former champ and is 10 ranks above her right now on the rankings: what do they think of each other?

“I’ve heard of her recently, but I don’t care much.” Summer comments. “What matters is that she gets to make my first victory of 2017 tonight in front of all these people. Sophia was a tough fight, but there’s no shame in losing to her. My loss streak ends tonight, and it’s gonna be the beginning of a new Bantamweight reign!”

“Fighting a former champion makes me incredibly nervous…” Minhee admits, giggling with the embarrassment of saying that. “But if I beat her, I hope it proves to everyone that my wins haven’t been flukes against girls who weren’t ever very strong. I have a lot of respect for Helen, and I have a lot of respect for Summer. I earned the former’s respect, so I hope I can earn the latter’s, too!”

The two ladies meet at the center of the ring. Minhee offers a glove touch, and Summer, somewhat amused, obliges.

ROUND 1: The South Korean wastes no time blasting away at her opponent, coming in close and trying to overwhelm Summer. Summer, veteran she is, takes this in stride and handles the pressure well, throwing some counter shots to Minhee. Minhee isn’t caught off guard in the slightest, stepping out of range just in time and stepping right back in to slam Summer’s vulnerable gut! Summer grunts from the hit and Minhee follows up with a right hook and a left jab! Summer trying to fight back, but Minhee stops her before she even gets the chance! Summer is doing her best, but it looks like her best isn’t enough; Minhee with a focused smile on her face as she runs roughshod on Summer Glau. Minhee ends the round with a left jab to the chest, a right to the rib, and an uppercut to the chin! It’s obvious she took the round cheery smile on her face, but Summer is far from finished.

ROUND 2: Summer this time takes the lead after the two circle around each other, catching Minhee at the sides. Minhee avoids two hooks and punishes with a right to the ribs and a left hook! Follows up with a flurry, Summer just barely getting her guard up to block it, but a punch slips through her guard! Summer with no choice but to fight back, the two getting into a big brawl which ends with Summer landing a well-placed straight. Summer advances, Minhee acting a bit too early and getting bopped for it. Minhee back on the defense, moving around and searching for a counter. Glau in waiting for a few moments, and then two straights—but a BIG cross from Minhee! She got it! Minhee blasting away at Summer’s stomach, but that isn’t gonna stop her from popping off a few shots to Minhee’s head and then a big hook finally sends Minhee staggering away in time for the bell to ring! Checking the points…Summer wins that one, but just barely. These two are looking fairly even thus far.

ROUND 3: Summer lets the confident Minhee attempt to continue her pressure from last round, but it’s all for naught as she’s woken up and easily avoids Minhee’s punches. Minhee hits Summer’s guard with a right hook, and immediately takes a left straight as punishment! Summer advances, landing jabs to the face, but Minhee rebels with shots to the ribs—IMMEDIATELY getting staggered by Summer’s left hook! The actress advances on the popstar, showing no mercy and trying to trap her in a nearby corner! Minhee ducks, popping off shots to the stomach, but Summer lifts her right back up with an uppercut, leaving Minhee stuck! Summer combos with a right right left, there's a right cross to the chest, left straight to the face—Glau in absolute dominance, until Minhee lands a DESPERATE haymaker that finally frees her! Minhee nervous despite all that, though, and tries flanking her opponent with cautious reaching punches, and trying to throw herself back in and out of harm’s way. Unfortunately for her, Summer catches on quick and parries one of these punches, steps forward with a straight that collides right into Minhee’s nose, follows up with some jabs, and the round ends! Summer takes that round and asserts her dominance as an FCBA veteran and former champion. Minhee might have met her match!

ROUND 4: Minhee still cautious, Summer trying to use her strength to break through her guard. Minhee getting pushed back to the ropes, Summer with a right and then Minhee DUCKS and uppercuts the gut! Minhee moving out of harm’s way, Summer tries to retaliate and then gets stopped short with Minhee’s powerful right! Over and over, rocking Summer’s head! Glau on the run, still a bit off-center from Minhee connecting all those shots to the head! Summer visibly frustrated, trying her best to catch the Korean off guard, but she isn’t able to make the mark as she stands at a decent distance—Minhee closing in with another shot to the stomach, right to the chin, left to the cheek, walloping Summer—and a big left to the ribs sends Summer on her knees! She’s down! Minhee overjoyed, jogging back to her corner to give our referee room. 3…4…and there’s Summer, back up at 5! Summer frowning angrily at Minhee, her authority in the ring being challenged! Minhee looks a bit surprised as she comes back to the action, but is still clearly focused on the fight as she continues to land shots on Summer! Summer only grows more angry as she only grazes Minhee and has the popstar land shots on her breasts as the bell rings. Minhee still in high spirits now that she’s taken complete control of the fight going forward! But Summer, once again, is still standing and ready for more next round!

ROUND 5: Minhee confident now, a confident and cheery smile still firmly on her face, but Summer is wising up and fully understanding her it seems! Minhee landing some initial hits very carefully. Summer dodging and blasting Minhee where it counts, catching her off guard but not stopping her fully yet. Confidence in both girls now brimming, Minhee still insists on taking the leads as Summer moves around her, but that's a big mistake as Glau POUNDS her gut with a right! Glau truly utilizing her championship tactics, moving on Minhee and walloping the poor Korean girl left and right! Her cries of pain echo through the arena! Glau with a cross, a hook, and an UPPERCUT! DOWN GOES MINHEE!! Summer doesn't walk away just yet, gloating at her fallen foe with "You're NOTHING compared to me! You can't compete on my level, so don't get cocky thinking you're gonna win--" before being cut off by a ref and sent to her corner, pounding her gloves together. It's obivous she was pushed to her limit, and is just looking to regain her former glory here tonight. No shaming her, because she just might have done that...ref count is up at 3...4...5...6?! Minhee eyes wide open, smile now gone, sits up and slowly rises at the 7 count. Ref about to bring Summer over, but Minhee looks her right in the eyes, and beckons her with a glove, telling her to "Bring it!" in Korean with a seriously imposing expression. THAT sets Summer off, and she might have iust set Minhee off, too! Minhee with her guard wide up while Summer tries her best to pry away...followed by rapid swings that Minhee quickly ducks and avoids, but not punishing just yet. The round ends with Glau missing a huge straight and then Minhee taking the time to devastate her with a haymaker to the stomach! Summer obviously sore after that specific, but she was the one who took the round, so I guess she earned it!

ROUND 6: Summer ready to end what seems like a vulnerable Minhee, but Minhee goes through a notable change in demeanor and strategy; much like Sugar Ray, she's taunting and teasing as she dodges Summer's strikes. As Summer misses the mark, Minhee wiggles her hips seductively or pushes her breasts up, and once Summer whiffs again, Minhee RUSHES IN ON HER! Knocking Summer's head around like a punching bag and sending her into the corner with a cross! KPOP star moving in a frenzy as she assaults a defenseless Summer Glau in the stomach and breasts, and KNOCKS HER DOWN with a balance upsetting uppercut! Summer flat on her face, struggling...meanwhile, Minhee is blowing a large kiss to the excited crowd. Summer still struggling at 5...6...7...8...AND SHE DROPS AFTER THAT! She is not getting up! THE REF HITS 10! A knockout for the newcomer and her undefeated streak continues! KO6 Joo Minhee!

AFTER: Minhee working that body in her sexy onstage persona; the same one that helped her win this fight! Moving and twerking her butt at the center of the ring sfter her hand was lifted into the air, delighting the entire crowd.

"I try to warn people about this, but if they push me too far, I WILL show the onstage Minhee and not the normal celebrity Joo Minhee." she says, calmly. "Joo Minhee is a good boxer and a sweet girl! Onstage Minhee is a flirtatious, unstoppable, unbeatable girl who wants to make sure her opponent knows she has no chance, like when I fought Alesha Dixon. While I was very angry at Miss Glau a few moments ago in that persona...I'm just happy that I won now, and hope there's no hard feelings. And...oh my goodness, I beat a former champion! I can't believe it!! Thank you sooo much, all my fans! Please, keep watching me! I'll do my best to keep this winstreak up!"

With a wink and another kiss, Minhee leaves the arena as the woman on top, gaining herself more fans and strengthening her supporters. Meanwhile, Summer Glau rises, clearly frustrated from her loss.

"I lost my cool, but this isn't the end for me. She did a good job, and I can't be mad at her now; she beat me. I've got bigger fish to fry than her, though, and my NEXT fight will be the one where I make my mark on this place again!"
