TOP TEN LIGHTWEIGHTS AND WELTERS

Once again, we remind our readers that our rankings are different from those or our great friends at Boxing World. The champion is quite often not ranked number one since the champion is quite often clearly the not best fighter in the division. We require activity. We will not permit a fighter to retain a ranking by being inactive. A fighter must fight within three PPV’s or ninety days,  whichever is longer. Finally we put great emphasis on the quality of competition. To us, win-loss records are meaningless unless the competition is considered. A 3-2 record against top ten competition is better than 5-0 against third tier fighters

TOP TEN LIGHTWEIGHTS

1. YVONNE STRAHOVSKI. Has won six straight with wins over the likes of Perry,
Winstead. Biel and Palicki.   Fought on the March card

2 ADRIANA LIMA She currently holds the lightweight title after taking it form Arterton and defending it by beating Swan Fought on the March card

3, GEMMA ARTERTON Lost the title to Lima in the February card. That loss broke eight fight win steak that included wins over Peregrym. Lively and Yustman

4, KATY PERRY She is 8-1 since losing her title. Her opposition has been on the light side, but she does have a win over the tough Winstead.   Fought in the March Asylum

5, MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD This is what I was talking about. She gets the five spot over Taylor Swift because of competition She is 3-2 in her last five with opponents being Perry. Peregrym, Strahovski, Lively and Kerr.   Fought on the March card

6, TAYLOR SWIFT Has now won nine straight after being fed a sacrificial lamb in a stay busy fight on the March card. I have problems believing she is for real as her competition has been on the mediocre. She has to step up the competition. She fought on the March card

7. SERINDA SWAN Had won ten straight before losing a title shot against Lima on the March card. Her competition has been a little on the light side,  but good enough to get her a title shot

8. JAIMIE ALEXANDER Has won five straight with wins over Kendall Jenner, Ambrosio and Joanne Kelly.   Last fought on the January card.  Need to fight in the next month

9. ANNA TORV Has now won thirteen straight after winning at the March Asylum. Her problem has been competition which has been on the second tier side although she does have a win over Palicki.

10 MISSY PEREGRYM Back from inactivity by beating Ambrosio on the February card

THE TOP TEN WELTERWEIGHTS

There has been a lot of excitement about the future of the welters after the introductions of some new members. It’s true that fighters like Ferguson, Rhoda and Kloss have added a lot of strength to the division. The excitement, however, overlooks one very important factor. The division is desperately thin. Of the 27 stables listed on FCBA HISTORY website, fourteen have no welterweight members. Nine have only one. Of those that have one, a couple have never fought or are specializing in JMDD.

1. KATE UPTON She’s no longer the champion but she takes her place at the head of the table with a 7-1 record in conventional bouts with wins over Righetti, Brook and Biel. Unfortunately has wastes too much time in JMDD. Her last conventional bout was in January. Need to fight in the next 30 days. Her March fight was JMDD

2, HANNAH FERGUSON Jumps from eight all the way to two after taking the title from Atkinson. Before you get too excited, three of those wins were at JMDD and two of those over lightweights. Her competition thus far has been a little underwhelming , but on the other hand there is not a lot of strong competition out there.

3. GEMMA ATKINSON. Had a great seven fight win streak before losing the title to Ferguson. Look at the fighters Atkinson has fought recently and the ones that Ferguson has fought. Atkinson has a justified claim to the number two slot

4. HILARY RHODA Moves up to the number three slot with her win over Lancaster in the March PPV. She is now 8-0 and also has a win over Law.

5, KARLIE KLOSS She drops one spot on her loss to Atkinson on the February card and Rhoda’s rise. She has a win over Righetti. She and Rhoda are serious threats to Ferguson as the best new welter. They haven’t stirred the excitement, but if I was Ferguson I would be looking over my shoulder

6, AMANDA RIGHETTI How long has it been since she has been this low on the totem pole.  She won her first two bouts this year and I have no doubt that she will rule the roost again

7. BRIDGET REGAN What I said about Righetti goes for Regan. I think she will be back near the top in the not too distant future. She may not get a title as soon as Righetti however, I think more are in her future

8. MICHELLE RYAN She is 5-2 recently. Her losses were to Upton and Law. She last fought in on the February card winning over a inept lightweight in a fight that should haven’t never have been scheduled

9. PAULA PATTON She is 3-3 in her last six with a win over Nolin. Her losses were to Righetti, Regan and Sobieski

10. KATINA LAW. She is in a bit of funk losing three of her last four. She lost to Rhoda. Regan and Atkinson,   In losing, at least she is losing to top ranked fighters. Beside that she is alive

Whart happened to CASSIDY FREEMAN?
