Kym Valentine vs Esther Anderson
(ACB/BBU Free Agent vs Wildetime Boxing)

(BBU: 0-1 vs ACB: 0-1, BBU: 0-3)
Results: BBU; Story: Vassago

BEFORE: This fight didn't make the original 'Home & Away vs Neighbours' beach boxing PPV last year but Esther Anderson simply couldn't take a pass on Kym Valentine's lacklustre showing against Bonnie Sveen. Little did the fans and pundits know that Sveen would rise to the ACB Flyweight Title opportunity within the next seven months which actually renders Valentine's only performance to date a complete unknown. Sarah Cumming from "Green & Gold" Magazine thinks that just about anyone would have suffered a similar fate on that day - Esther included - but the 'Home & Away' brunette sounds very confident ahead of tonight's fight and vows to take Kym to the cleaners "no mercy" style!
Esther remains winless in female boxing competition across two organizations but she's been badly mismatched against veterans Emilie de Ravin and Ola Jordan as well as former BBU champions Danielle Brent and Gemma Merna. This is a monster tough schedule for anyone out there and it's easy to explain Anderson's cocky attitude as she targets her maiden victory against a very manageable opponent. Kym's only alleged advantage tonight? The fight takes places in her home city of Sydney!
Kym Valentine wears a navy blue bikini set and white gloves. Dark brown hair loose and straight. Esther Anderson wears a yellow bikini set with black trim and yellow gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.

Round 1:
It's too easy for Anderson in the early going as the younger of the two brunettes displays superior touch along the canvas and dominates the footwork battle which leads into a steady leather rush straight up the middle which Valentine simply can't embrace properly. Her head snaps back repeatedly as she drops on her heels under the onslaught and Esther quickly barks in her pursuit of a complete annihilation of the sluggish rival. Kym clinches herself to safety on a couple of occassions but has little to offer in the opening round and quite frankly she's fortunate that Anderson didn't trap her in the corner for a good measure.

Round 2:
More of the same in the second, Esther keeps hassling along and outworks Kym in close range but finds the high guard upgraded this time and the clinching becomes more frequent which hurts the artistic impression of this cougar battle very badly indeed. However Esther seems to be well aware of her early dominance and doesn't lose her temper; she drives a single hook on the guts - which draws immediate negative reaction from the Sydney audience - before wrestling the older brunette back to the ropes where she clips her liver area a couple of time to maintain the upper-hand. Kym responds with scattered jabs from behind the guard but does little to impress both the fans and the judges!

Round 3:
Wildetime's head trainer Tania Zaetta urges Anderson to become more ruthless in the ring given Valentine's scrappy demeanour but one has to give some credit to the 'Neighbours' actress who improves her defense and shuts the youger brunette off during an otherwise feisty mid-range tangle. Esther gets a little annoyed because of this and steps back once the ref separates the two hellcats; she's three inches taller than Kym so she ca soundly dominate the mid-range fracas but loses her precision down the stretch and allows Valentine to catch some late respite - without a good reason to be honest!

Round 4:
Esther remains the driving force in the ring but she walks into a looping cross early in the forth and Kym nails her with her best punch of the night right there - straight on the nose. She flicks immediate follow up and catches the 'Home & Away" actress on the ear which gives Esther's knees a real shakedown! Suddenly Kym cleans out some tummy and bullies the hitherto dominant brunette back to the ropes before signing off her charge with a quick uppercut on the jaw! Ugh! That one makes Anderson scowl but her response flies over the top of the smaller woman and Valentine wrecks havoc in Esther's chest thereafter, shutting her down with pretty vicious jabbing. Anderson's defense isn't as good as most of the fans in Sydney anticipated and she remains properly earmuffed for remainder of the round. A much needed comeback effort from Kym who avoids the looming whitewash in sublime fashion considering the circumstances!

Round 5:
Tania Zaetta is livid with that fourth round effort from Esther but it only gets worse for the Wildetime entourage as another close range tangle has Valentine drilling through Anderson's guts like there's no tomorrow and the younger brunette bends forward underneath the onslaught which enables Kym to smash her on the solar plexus. Ugh! Esther screams out in pain and as she misses the left hook response, Valentine sinks her with a left-handed piledriver that finds the nose AND RAGDOLLS ANDERSON TO THE FLOOR! That's what the Sydney crowd was waiting for and Kym yells out in delight. She observes as a furious Esther recovers from the knockdown at seven but the hitherto speedy brunette can't channel her dominant mid-range stance anymore and gets wrapped up in Kym's aerial attack quickly afterwards. Punishing hooks leave a couple of nasty bruises on Esther's face and render her into punchbag mode - more worryingly her arms drop to the side and for once she remains glued to the spot as her feet are unable to move. Valentine keeps hammering along and finally lands one vicious hook on the lips too many! ANDERSON GOES DOWN FLAT ON HER BACK... and STAYS DOWN when the count reaches ten!!! Epic KO5 Kym Valentine in come-from-behind fashion!!!

AFTER: That's a win for the hometown heroine but also a valuable scalp for Team "Neighbours"! Kym can't stop screaming her heart out in delight while Tania Zaetta's only responsibility by this stage is to drag the woozy Anderson off to the locker room. It's never easy to soak up a defeat at the hands - gloves even - of a free agent but Sarah Cumming can't confirm whether this performance costs Esther her job with the Wildetime stable. The Geelong brunette was strolling in the park for three rounds before her below par defense cost her so badly. She was labelled as a "glass jaw" operator but she did take Gemma Merna through eight rounds before and tonight's upset loss leaves many fans and pundits around Australia gobsmacked at the very least!

Final result: Kym Valentine def. Esther Anderson KO5.
