KAROLINA KURKOVA VS SOPHIE TURNER

Writing: Archer Results: Lookout

Karolina: 33 YO, 5’11 (1.80 m), (FCBA: 3-3-0 since 2015, Lioness Club)
Sophie: 21 YO, 5’9 (1.75 m), FCBA 4-2-0 since 2015, Foxfire Boxing

Before: Sophie Turner and Karolina Kurkova appear at matching podiums for their pre-conference, both are in designer jeans with white silk blouses. Sophie with her red hair pulled back in tight bun while Karolina’s blonde locks flow loose.

“Karolina will be a serious challenge for me. She’s had a lot of overseas bouts to go with her FCBA fights. She is taller and I can see she has a longer reach. So, I know I’ll be in for a tough fight, but my management and I want to ensure I establish my lightweight credentials by taking all different types of fighters. Besides, fighting a Czech supermodel is exotic to me, and it is rather exciting. I just know this will be a splendid fight.”

Karolina listens to all this will pursed lips: “One thing I have learned in my modeling—and my boxing careers—is that there are competitors who SAY all the right things, but. In truth they are masking their contempt for me. Sophie, you may talk sweet, but I can see in your eyes that you think I have no chance against you.”

Sophie’s cheeks flames: “I never said that!”

“But you think it. You know I have almost always fought other models and you think models are not as good as actresses. You will learn how wrong that belief is. I will make you face that you are not superior to me—I am superior to you!”

Sophie’s cheeks are even redder: “You tell that to Jennifer Lawrence before she knocked you out?”

“Ah, now you strike back! Yes, Jennifer Lawrence did knock me out, but YOU, Sophie turner are NO Jennifer Lawrence. I will take my chances which, as a matter of fact, I think quite good,” Karolina said with a wicked smile.

“I never said I was as good as Jennifer Lawrence—at least not yet—but I am certainly good enough to beat you!” Sophie said with some heat.

“Not yet proven,” Karolina replied serenely. “and when I prove to you that I am indeed your superior—well, that will be a sad moment for you.”
“Do all the Lioness Club fighters talk like that?” Sophie snapped.

“The good ones do,” Karolina says, “so you know what that makes me.”

“Conceited!” Sophie complained.

“Think that if you wish, but I will show you your mistake you are when we fight,” Karolina replied, maintaining that smirking coolness that seemed to set young Sophie on edge.

“And I will show you how wrong you are about me! “ Sophie cried.

Karolina shrugged: “If I am wrong, I am wrong and will suffer the consequences. I trust you are prepared for then as well.”

Sophie looked uncomfortable: “Stop trying to play with my mind.”

“But it is such an easy mind to play with,” Karolina cracked and the audience chuckled.

“How dare you!” Sophie hissed and she took a step towards Karolina, but before she could her trainer Rachel Nichols appeared to hold her back.

“Save it for the fight, Sophie. She’s just baiting you,” Racgek said glaring at the amused Karolina.

“And it is working so well, too,” Karolina said, “I think you had best get Sophie out of here. You really don’t want her taking me on in a catfight.”

“Only because I need her ready to shut you up at the fight!” Rachel snapped as she tried to hold Sophie back.

“Many have tried, some have succeeded, but I don’t believe your Sophie can do it—not now anyway,” Karolina announced. “Well, my work is done here. Goodbye everyone. See you all at the fight—especially you Sophie Turner!”

Sophie let out an incoherent cry of fury but Rachel Nichols had too fight a grip. She managed to turn the fuming Sophie away and steer her off the stage.

“You’re letting her get to you,” Rachel warned.

“No, what I want is to get at her! Lets get to the gym, I want to practice my punching for when I cancel that Czech!” Sophie snarled.

An uneasy calm settled in after the press conference. Both Sophie and Karolina had no more to say publicly. Rumors abounded that Sophie was out for Karolina’s blood and Karolina was smugly confident she had the young fighter stirred up and out of focus. The fans were eager to see what all this conflict produced in the ring. On fight night, Sophie was in a red sports bra with navy blue Speedo boxing trunks. Red gloves and boots with blue laces. Her red hair was pulled back in a tight battle braid. Karolina was in a black bikini with gold gloves and boots (silver laces). Her hair was a blonde battle braid. Karolina smirking as Sophie smoldered her her disrespect Karolina slammed instead of swiping Sophie’s gloves knocking the redhead off balance. Referee had to jump in to keep Sophie from striking back. Finally. The two females were in their corners and the bell rang…

R1: Karolina and Sophie move quickly to mid-ring. Karolina using her extra reach to get in the opening shots to Sophie’s face and sides of her head. Sophie trying to duck under the incoming and put her answering shots into Karolina’s breasts. Sophie trying to force her way in close, but getting her face smacked up with cruel accuracy. Sophie finally forced back, but she circles and comes back with hooks to the midsection that get Karolina’s attention. Karolina backs and circles herself. Sophie charges in again and finds Karolina’s jaw with hard right, but Karolina counters with a smack to Sophie’s left eye. Sophie ducking down and pounding Karolina’s trim torso. Karolina moving and firing at Sophie’s head. Sophie battling her to the bell. Judges give it to Karolina Kurkova but it’s close.

R2: Sophie showing better footwork, making Karolina miss and then striking back to the body. Karolina shifting to long distance strikes, but Sophie evasive and darting in to strike at the blonde supermodel. Karolina now trying to out-maneuver Sophie and those long model legs are giving Sophie some problems, but she charges in close and manages to get to Karolina’s jaw again. Karolina jabbing back, but looks cramped fighting in close. Finally Karolina gets Sophie to back up with a jab that catches her bruised left eye. Sophie steps back and clips Karolina’s chin. Tremor sent through Karolina’s long stems, but bell sounds before Sophie can follow up. Round goes wide into Sophie’s column.

R3: Sophie able to duck Karolina’s attempts to keep her at a distance and move in to fire leather into Karolina’s body and smack that jaw a couple of solid shots. Karolina still trying to out-footwork Sophie, but is being thwarted by Sophie’s pressure tactics. Karolina back up and jabbing but it is not keeping the determined redhead back. Sophie is getting her face lumped up but she seems willing to take the punishment as long as she get her gloves into Karolina who does seem to be slowing down as the round ends. Round to Sophie Turner wide.

R4: Sophie circling Karolina making the blonde guess when she will strike. A couple of feints to keep the blonde confused and SOPHIE STRIKES. Leaping, muscular right crunches hard into Karolina’s jaw AND DOWN GOES KAROLINA! Karolina’s legs tangle up and pitch her to the canvas. Blonde struggling on all fours, trying to get up as Sophie watches with excitement from neutral corner and referee is counting. Karolina able to get herself erect ahead of the count and looks defiantly at Sophie waving her in even before referee formally permits it. Sophie more than happy to charge in, but Karolina’s ready with a jab that knocks Sophie head back with shits to the nose and forehead. Sophie looks startled and slow to react as Karolina then unleashes against her jaw. Sophie’s head whipped from right to left to right. Karolina unleashes a sweet uppercut that comes in under Sophie’s chin. SOPHIE LANDS ON HER BUTT! Sophie looking up in shock as she sees Karolina grin down at her and then turn away. Sophie back on her feet at “EIGHT!” but she looks tremble-legged, but manages to keep away from Karolina to the bell. Crowd a is abuzz at the shocking answering knockdown from Karolina Kurkova that allows the Lioness Club fighter to steal a round from the rookie lightweight. Sophie looking shocked as she makes her way back to her stool. Karolina gives Sophie a pat on the back of her navy blue trunks but Sophie doesn’t even notice. Karolina smiles.

R5: Foxfire corner works hard on Sophie Turner and she looks pretty lively coming off her stool. That lasts until Karolina lopes in and starts working her midsection. Sophie doubling up and leaving her upper guard down. Karolina lightning like rights and lefts to the face send Sophie stumbling back to the ropes. Left eye struck again and then again. It’s swelling up bad, but then Karolina goes after Sophie’s chin with left-right combos and then finishes with another beautifully nasty uppercut. Sophie driven back into the ropes and then slides down them to end up in a seated position before falling over on her right side. Referee moves and Sophie does try to pull herself up using the ropes, but as she tries to stand, her legs give out and she ends up seated leaning against the ropes holding her left eye now nearly swollen shut. The referee’s relentless counting brings the fight to its end: “NINE!...TEN!...YOU’RE OUT!”

THE WINNER: KAROLINA KURKOVA DEFEATS SOPHIE TURNER KO5!

After: Karolina smiling broadly doesn’t wait for her gloves to be removed to cross the ring to where a battered and defeated Sophie Turner is leaning back against the ropes.
“Now who is the superior fighter?”

Sophie looks up with weary resignation: “You are Karolina, but I think you were lucky, I nearly had you.”

“Nearly had me isn’t good enough,” Karolina says chattily. “and luck was only a small part of it. I beat you and that’s the fact.”

“Yes, I’m afraid it is,” Sophie said, “I can’t see you too well, but I know you have ‘consequences’ in mind.”

“Nothing too alarming, just a walk of shame,” Karolina said sliding a practiced arm around Sophie to haul her to her feet. “Oh my, the eye is going to be a most beauty shiner. You just send me picture for my collection when it’s in full black and blue glory.”

Sophie shaky on her feet, but Karolina “encourages” her by twisting her bottoms and giving her a sharp wedgie. Sophie yelps.

“You didn’t have to do that!” She complains.

“No, but it did wake you up, didn’t it? Come along, let us be off,” Karolina said cheerfully.

Karolina gave Sophie a textbook Walk of Shame., Waving to the crowd like a pageant princess. Pausing for photos and helpfully pointing to Sophie swollen eye. (Some in the crowd thought this a bit much and booed their displeasure. Karolina paid them no heed, but Sophie managed a grateful smile at the support). When they had completed the circuit, Karolina turned Sophie over to Rachel Nichols.

“She’s got talent,” Karolina pronounced, “but she needs some work.”

“Thanks for the advice,” Rachel said coldly.

“You know I will fight you again and you won’t be lucky then,” Sophie panted.

“I’ll take the chance,” Karolina said and walked away. Sophie leaned wearily against Rachel and whispered: “Get me out of here. This was a bad night.”

Indeed it was a bad night for the young lightweight. Sophie Turner seemed to be rolling Karolina Kurkova up, but it all went bad for her. Karolina showed toughness in getting off the canvas to nail the younger fighter and then finish her off in the following round. Lioness Club might want to see how she fares against other non-supermodel lightweights. Meanwhile Sophie and her Foxfire management need to regroup and get their plainly shaken fighter back in the winning column. Two potentially intriguing lightweight stories as the year progresses.
