New Blood Welterweight Tournament Final: Ireland Baldwin versus Kate Bock
(Written by Girls Friday/Results by Lookout)
(Free Agent vs Free Agent)
Intro:
The final of this years New Blood welterweight tournament sees Ireland
Baldwin fights Kate Bock, both girls hoping to win the tiara and
hopefully impress management to sign them.
How did they get this far? Well Ireland Baldwin won her debut fight
against fellow debutant Devon Windsor in a particularly strong
performance has given her the tag of favourite to win this tournament.
While Kate Bock lost her debut before the tournament against Bo
Krsmanovic, but won her semi final bout against Romee Strijd in a hard
fought win to get to the final tonight on PPV.
Before the fight, both girls were given a chance to speak to the press
the night before, both in beautiful dresses (Ireland in a emerald
dress with a low cut neckline, Kate in a red dress that hugged her
figure)
Ireland spoke first, standing at the podium with her towering presence
for all to see, she said "I expect confetti to drop when I win this
tournament OK?" She asks with a straight face.
Looking at Kate, she adds "you look sturdy but I don't think you
realise who you are fighting, I am bigger then you, smarter than you
and all round better than you" smirking as she sees Kate glare at her.
Ireland finishes by saying "lord knows I wouldn't have lost to that
useless bytch Bo Krsmanovic" laughing as she leaves the podium before
Kate can charge her.
Her future opponent walks up to the podium and takes a deep breath to
calm herself down, once she is; she says "Ireland, keep living off
your parents because I'm not interested in your games little girl"
some pundits laughing as Ireland is certainly no little girl at 6'2!
Kate continues by saying "this tournament showed what girls my age can
do if given a push, Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid both have gotten
management and have had title shots in quick time, while I've lost a
fight before this tournament, I can see myself getting into title
fights with the right team behind me"
Both are led face to face for the final staredown before they see each
other in the ring, both have their hands on their hips with Ireland
having a wide cocky smile across her flawless face.
There is some whispered threats of what they are going to do once they
are in the ring for the actual fight, before they are led off stage.
Fight night and first out comes our special guest referee for tonight's
proceedings, the former two time FCBA welterweight champion Sarah
Lancaster steps onto the top of the entrance ramp to a loud cheer.
Sarah nodding and waving to her fans as she starts her walk to the
ring, a black and white referees shirt looks traditional, but she has
on a black skirt with black underwear underneath for those nosey and
black trainers.
Climbing into the ring, she bows to each side of the arena, before
heading to neutral corner to await the fighters.
First out is Ireland with her coach behind her, her green gloves
raised above her head as she looks regal in her emerald sports bra,
matching trunks with a white waistband and "Baldwin" written in green
letters on said waistband, she finishes the look with emerald coloured
shoes and her long blonde hair is in a fighting braid.
Entering the ring after making her coach open the ropes up for her to
climb through, she roars to the crowd "this is my time!" Before
heading to her corner to warm up.
Now it's time for Kate's entrance, she stands at the top of the ramp
with her coach by her side, bouncing on her toes with her head down,
before she lifts her head up and walks down to the ring with piercing
eyes staring right at her opponent.
Ireland doesn't look bothered as she waves the fighter clad in red
gear with "Bock" in white letters on her waistband.
Climbing into the ring, Ireland charges over to Kate, going nose to
nose with each other, Ireland letting Kate know "this is my ring! You
try to mess with me and they'll be taking you out on a stretcher!"
Kate tells Ireland what she thinks of her in very unladylike terms,
Sarah having to earn her money early, shoving both fighters apart and
warning them to listen to her, either tries to break the rules and
they'll hear about it.
Both fighters nod reluctantly at her, then as they are asked to touch
gloves, they both look annoyed at her, but seeing the hard look on
Sarah's face gets them to give each others gloves a quick swipe before
heading to their corners.
As the girls stand ready in their corners, Sarah looks happy she can
start this and waves for the timekeeper to ring the bell, starting 10
rounds of welterweight boxing action.
Round 1:
Off we go with both girls looking to enforce their style on the other
early, Ireland using her height to snap her jab to the top of Kate's
head.
Kate though works her way forwards with her head movement being key in
this fight, as it allows her inside the reach of Ireland safely to
pound her to the body with several short sharp punches to her abs.
Ireland pushing Kate back, getting an early warning from Sarah to keep
things clean, but the American doesn't care, lashing a hard right and
left across the cheeks of Kate to press her back a few steps.
But the cockiness of Ireland is punished as she misses with a lax jab
over the head of Kate, who crouches under it and comes back up to pop
Baldwin on her left cheek with a right hand.
Ireland forced to cover up as Kate gets right onto her with rights and
lefts raining towards her, pressing her back towards the ropes as the
supposed underdog is looking anything but an underdog at the moment.
Realising she is in a real fight, Ireland starts fighting back,
shoving her left into the face of Kate to slyly shove her head back
and create space.
The Baldwin daughter rifles her shots into the top of Kate's head, who
is now being forced to cover up as Ireland comes on the attack.
But again Kate surprises her, ducking under a right hook to quickly
step forwards into the gap between the fighters and buries two hard
body shots in, then snaps an uppercut up that doesn't connect flush,
though it gets Ireland's attention as her eyes go wide from shock.
Kate staying on the hunt as Ireland steps back, looking strong as she
makes the bigger girl miss and punishes her by stepping to the gaps
between them to focus on the body of Ireland.
It seemed it give Devon some success in the fight she had against
Ireland, Ireland of course did get the win though so Kate needs to
keep this pressure on for as long as she can.
A right cross from Ireland late in the round seems to give her some
space, though Kate still is looking to get back at her.
But is being met with some hard straight punches to her lips as
Ireland ends the round strong after being under pressure for good
parts of the round.
The scowl she has on her face is one that says "how fucking dare you
hit me!" Which shows the level of arrogance from the youngster.
Kate doesn't bother to stop and look at her opponent, instead just
focusing on getting to her corner and getting cleaned up of sweat and
a quick drink of water, she looks calm and collected as her opponent
looks angry.
Round 2:
Off go the girls straight at each other again, Kate not showing any
fear of the bigger girl, moving around the bigger Ireland, who is
sticking to jabbing her way to victory, sadly for her fans that isn't
working as well here as it did on her debut.
Kate getting in tight to land a hard right to the ribs of the
American, trying to push on with several punches thrown towards her
body, Ireland covering up as she is pressed back.
A sidestep from Ireland creates some space and soon lands a hard
straight through the guard of the Canadian, snapping her head back.
Ireland getting onto the front foot now, landing some hard punches
around the guard of Kate to her face, forcing Bock to move back
quickly or be overrun.
The girls circle each other with stiff jabs being sent to each others
faces through the others guards, till Kate charges forward.
But she gets caught by a right hook that gives Ireland an opening to
power her backwards towards with the ropes with a well drilled three
punch combo to the face of Kate.
Ireland stalking Kate back around the ring with her long range punches
snapping into the guard of her opponent, knocking it back towards the
face of Bock.
Kate seems to find her feet again though, parrying a right and getting
into midrange to start trading with Ireland.
Both girls stand and trade to a loud cheer, digging their feet in as
they try to force each other back.
Ireland surprises Kate by taking a big step back to open up the gap
between them and fires a double jab into the nose of Bock.
Baldwin looking good as the bell rings not long after a good exchange
between the girls, Ireland with some swagger in her walk back to her
corner, looking much more relaxed now that she seems in her own mind
to have worked out Kate.
Kate herself though doesn't look rattled by any stretch, knowing at
her coach as he goes through her mistakes, wanting to her get at that
body as that seems the bullseye that coaches have on Ireland.
Round 3:
Both fighters dance out of their corners on their toes, till they get
into range of each other when they go head hunting.
Ireland starting off strong with double jab to open up Kate to slip
her right around the guard of Kate, trying to force her opponent back.
Kate though won't be pushed back if she can help it, getting herself
under the straight punches of Ireland to step in tight and landing
some hard shots on the inside.
Till Ireland pushes Kate back, snapping a right into the nose of Kate
to push her back a step, Ireland grinning as she pounds her fists into
the arms of Kate that is up to protect her face.
The arms reddening as Ireland working her backwards, but maybe Ireland
is not focusing enough as she misses with a left hook, Kate moving her
head back and Ireland leans too far forward, getting cracked on the
chin with a hard right.
Kate coming back at Ireland as the girls are really going back and
forth in this round, Kate throwing several overhand punches that turn
Ireland's face around side to side.
Pushing her onto the ropes and Ireland is forced to fight her way off
the ropes, the fighters going hammer and tongs on the ropes.
Ireland not enjoying herself with Kate right in her face, having to
pull Kate into a clinch and she grapples Bock onto the ropes and leans
on her to try and wear her out.
Sarah struggles slightly at first, but she shoves Ireland back off of
Kate, Kate moving off the ropes and Sarah holds both girls back till
she's happy to start them off again.
The rest of the round is back and forth action, Kate slipping on the
inside to work the body and even jugs of Ireland, willing to do
anything to win, the same as Ireland, who nudges Kate back with her
arms and lands over the guard of Kate to snap her head to the sides.
The bell rings with both girls glaring at each other, hating to think
that the other is so hard to beat, part of them wants to slip the
gloves off and really work over the other girl.
Sarah snaps them out of that mindset with a loud order to get back to
their corners, the fighters doing as told and Sarah manages to follow
up on that by going to each corner to tell each girl that she won't
put up with any crap, she is the law tonight.
Round 4:
Both fighters take a deep breath to calm themselves down as they know
that the judges will be having a hard time separating them, they will
have to sort this out themselves.
Kate looking to get on the inside, charging forward to pressure
Ireland onto her back foot, Ireland not looking too worried as she
digs long range punches over the guard of the smaller girl.
The girls trading some nice clean punches to the others face, though
it is Ireland coming away with the better punches landing onto Kate's
face.
A thin trickle of blood is starting to run from the nose of Kate, the
Sports Illustrated model wiping her nose with the back of her right
glove to see what is happening, cursing under her breath that she's
bleeding but still slipping on the inside to land two hard shots to
the ribs of Ireland to force another groan from her lips.
Ireland though slings an uppercut up that knocks Kate's head back,
opening her up to two straight punches that rattle Bock backwards.
Kate being forced to fight on her heels, giving Ireland the chance to
get at that nose, snapping her punches onto it to cause Kate to groan
out in pain.
It's becoming clear that Ireland is taking over the action, forcing
Kate to cover up more then she'd like too, being pressed back towards
ropes but moving around Ireland to get away from being pinned on the
ropes.
Kate does feint a right and slips in closer to try to get at her
opponents body, instead the girls go back to pounding each other at
midrange, Ireland groaning as well now.
But a hard body shot to the abs of Kate seems to do the job of
pressing back the Canadian, giving Ireland some respite.
Ireland ending the last part of the round strong as Kate doesn't look
interested in pushing her luck the rest of the round.
Measuring her punches with her left, Ireland looks cool and assured as
she works her way forward, looking to have bottled Kate up behind that
caught.
The bell sounds and Ireland nods to her coach with a wide smile on her
face, believing that she's got Kate where she wants her, it was true
in her debut at that stage of that fight, will it be true here?
Kate certainly doesn't want it to be, her coach working to stop the
blood from her nose and cleaning her face up, he hasn't lost faith in
her as he tells her to get back at Ireland.
Round 5:
Ireland looking to build on that last round, starting off with her jab
digging at the head of Kate, working around the smaller girl.
Kate holding back, taking these shots on her gloves as best as she
can, though she is getting caught around the guard with cross punches
as Ireland is wising up to the defensive strategy of the Canadian.
Ireland continues to work her way forwards, keeping Kate on her back
foot, not wanting to let her off the leash she seems to have her on.
But Kate isn't going to go away, timing her attack, she waits for a
straight to be thrown at her, parrying it and gets forward quickly to
surprise her fellow model.
Working the body of Baldwin with a flurry of punches, knocking her
onto her heels now as she keeps at the taller girl.
Ireland having to nudge her back and land a right cross to get back
onto the front foot, throwing her own barrage of punches at the head
of Bock.
The crowd are cheering the girls on, getting lost in the action as
Kate is being pressed onto the ropes.
Ireland pinning her to the ropes with her left and landing several
right hands to the body, looking to end this fight now if she can.
Kate shoves the left away from her face and pulls Ireland to her to
clinch up with her, needing a moment to recover from the assault of
Baldwin.
Sarah pulls both girls apart, Kate moving off the ropes to find her
feet again in this round.
The fighters trade at midrange again, Ireland looking to continue
pounding away at Kate to press her back once more.
But she gets countered by Kate, who moves her head out the way of a
left jab and steps in to crack a right hand onto the temple of the
lanky American.
Kate finishing the round strongly after such a difficulty two rounds
she's endured, Ireland on her heels as Bock throws punch after punch
to the body or head of her opponent to work her way back.
The bell rings with both girls starting to look hurt, Kate's nose
bleeding down to her chin, Ireland shaking her own head as she tries
to clear it after that vicious punch to her temple rocked her.
Both head to their corners with no worries about the other now, just
wanting to get cleaned up and patched up to fight on.
Their faces show their resolve though as they stare across the ring at
each other, hating the other girl who wants what they want.
Round 6:
Ireland looks miffed that her work up to now hasn't gotten the job
done, her stiff jab is still finding it's way to its target, but the
accuracy is starting to diminish as Kate is hunting her down.
Both girls square up and trade at the center of the ring, both trying
to keep some semblance of defense, but finding they have to let their
hands go if they have any chance of winning this little battle.
Kate finds the path to doing that, blocking a right cross, she steps
forward with a right hook of her own just under the left jug of
Ireland.
Ireland groans out in pain and finds Kate barrelling into her with
short sharp right punches digging her in her ribs to add to her
discomfort.
The lanky blonde has to pull her smaller counterpart into a clinch,
Kate desperate though, squirming her left out of the clinch and
throwing it repeatedly into the side of her opponent to keep her in a
state of pain.
Sarah separates the girls, both fighters staring hard at each other
before they are ordered to continue by the special referee.
Ireland is trying to headhunt with her left, seeking to line up her
opponent for a devastating right hook, but when she does throw it, she
misses and leaves her body exposed to more punishment from the
rallying Kate.
Who shoves Ireland back onto the ropes, getting a warning from Sarah;
but she isn't interested in that, she just wants to hear the gasps
coming from the fighter she just looks at as a bytch.
Baldwin is now the one to shove Bock bacl, landing a hard right that
wobbles Kate and the crowd are stunned as they think the fight is
going to turn back over to the Americans side.
Kate though clinches up with Ireland, both girls on the ropes as they
grapple with each other, Sarah having a difficult time pulling the
fighters apart, having to shout for them to separate.
They finally do and Sarah orders them to continue with Ireland looking
to come back at Kate and finding that her opponent has the same idea.
Both girls trading with not long to go, with Kate keeping herself in
close so Baldwin can't control her like before.
The bell rings to end this round, the fighters giving each other a
shove as their tempers are basically gone, they are battered and
bruised to the face, Ireland now has bloody lips to match the nose of
Kate.
But as Ireland heads to her corner, all those body attacks seem to be
taking their toll on her, she slumps down on her stool till her coach
gets her to sit up, telling her to get as much air into her body as
she can.
While Kate shakes her head, trying to clear it so she can be fully
ready for the next round, in their young lives this fight is a real
gut check for both.
Round 7:
Neither fighter is racing out to start this round off, but don't let
that fool you as once they get in range, the action quickly heats up.
Ireland still trying to stick to her jabbing attack, not wanting to
move away from what makes her successful, maybe she is hoping to get a
decision.
Kate isn't looking for one, parrying a right to get in tight, forcing
both girls to look like they are fighting for their lives.
Technique isn't a major factor in tight, the girls are simply brawling
for a lack of a better term, some real bombs connect on each fighter.
Both fall into a clinch, hurting but still wanting to win badly,
Ireland tries to get Kate into a headlock, which Sarah stops before
she can complete it.
Ireland not looking happy at being stopped, Sarah not interested in
that; simply orders the girls to get back at each other.
Not needing much in the way of incentive, the girls come back at each
other, though it's Kate who looks the stronger.
Pushing her way in close and banging two vicious looking hooks to each
side of Ireland's body, the big girl is clearly hurt by that.
A big overhand right smacks her right on the side of her head and
Ireland is left spawled on her side, her eyes are open but they are
glazing over as Kate slowly heads to a neutral corner.
Ireland's coach looks up at the clock to see she only needs to get up
and survive roughly 30 seconds for the round to end.
Sarah is up to a count of 5 as Baldwin is starting to stir, at 7 she
is beginning to push herself up but she hasn't got any time left and
as she pushes herself up to her backside to sit up, she looks up with
a dazed look on her face to see Sarah finish her count and wave the
fight as over!
Winner; New Blood welterweight champion 2017 Kate Bock KO Round 7
After:
Kate has done it, though she's too sore to jump for joy, tears flow
down her face as she's taken her first major step in her career with
this win.
For Ireland, it is unbelievable to her that she could lose to anyone,
especially to Bock, who she gives one hell of a death stare to as she
looks up from the canvas.
Both fighters coaches come out to help them back to their stools,
Sarah goes over to help Ireland up but she shoves the hand of the
special guest referee away, seemingly blaming everyone but herself for
this loss.
The fighters are cleaned up and led to the ring centre or at least one
is, Ireland gives Kate a middle finger salute before leaving the ring
to a mix of boos and some cheers from her own fans.
She tells her coach "I can't believe this, I was supposed to win this
tournament" as she starts sobbing, hating this moment so much on her
way to the back.
Inside the ring, the mood of course is happier in the ring, Kate
shaking hands with Sarah and organisers climb into the ring with the
tiara and trophy for the new champion.
The crowd quiet down as Kate stands in the ring centre, fighting back
her tears as Sarah is given the trophy first to give the champion, who
holds the trophy up to a loud cheer.
Then Sarah puts the tiara onto the bowed head of Kate, to an even
louder cheer as the Canadian can't fight back the tears any longer,
overjoyed to be the New, New Blood champion, joining the first winning
of this tournament Karlie Kloss in history.
Confetti starts to fall from the roof into the ring as Kate does a lap
of honour inside the ring, Sarah and the organisers give her a round
of applause.
Leaving the ring with help from her coach so she can take her leave,
how far can Kate go? If Karlie Kloss is anything to go by, Kate could
be upsetting people quite quickly.
