Adriana Lima versus Yvonne Strahovski (Lightweight Title)
(Words: O & E / Results: Lookout!)
Before: "We've broken down Adriana's game," Yvonne reports in prefight, "and I’m superior in every category except for pure core-strength & sturdiness...and my speed will answer for that. I've got to work body like I've never worked it before - I need to chip away at Lima - leech her strength away from her, then take her out. I don't see this going the distance: we're both too energetic and physical for that. Adriana will tire first, and I'll have her!”
Champ composed in rebuttal: “Strahovski's right about one thing: this won't go the distance. Unfortunately for her - that's the ONLY thing she's right about."
Triangle cut bikinis with their hair pulled up in topknots & white gloves all around, red with purple ties for Adriana, black with gold ties for Yvonne.
R1: Yvonne fitting Adriana for slick-sliding one-twos up the middle, scoring off Angel's face. Lima taking it well, banging her way forward with both hands lashing out. Two minutes of negotiations winds up with Strahovski digging in at apron, getting compressed by Adriana in her brawling element. Lima on top, bashing away both hands head-and-shoulders on Vonnie; bodying up to stack; pushing off to beat the waist swinging right & lefts at the bell.
R2: Leggy shutout, Yvonne Strahovski: Adriana turning, bobbing, & blocking better than her reputation; but unable to find good punching solutions. Blonde girl so swift and sleek - circling clockwise, slashing in off Lima’s left shoulder - fitting straight right hands to jaw, then scouring her in combination while disengaging. Champ still taking the hard pokes well, but looking outclassed.
R3: Stalking pressure from Adriana yielding the odd thumping to belly, but blonde legs and outside work carrying the minutes. Yvonne's eyes hard as she works right side of Lima's face over & over, jabbing it, dropping in swift right hands, then escaping 'round the flank. Adriana grim in pursuit, tormented one again by a sleek blonde technician.
R4: Adriana rallies off her stool, wades in to hurt Yvonne. Crunching body work: Lima lashing in the hooks, carving away palm-down rights to chip away on blonde ribcage: Strahovski stricken, giving ground in pain. Champ gets on top of her at the ropes: Adriana punishing her blonde - fists bouncing off head and shoulders as Yvonne rolls-torso in the pocket. Lima reaching under Straho's long arms, bodying her back onto ropes, then jamming away to tummy, both dukes pumping. Yvonne gasping, tying up for breathless ref's breaks. Adriana wading immediately back in, loading up and pouring it to Strahovski, beating her into a trembling face-in-gloves posture - elbows tight to her body. Lima RINGING Yvonne up to ribcage - brunette bouncing both mitts off either flank - strong arms shivering like a two-by-four smacking a cinderblock. Straho's sinewy legs holding her up, but she's desperate with hurt: Mary Elizabeth Winstead hopping the guard rail, tackled by security, still screaming for Lima to "POUR IT ON!" Bell: Adriana digging in with both hands for insurance - ref rushes in to pull her off.
R5: Adriana aggressively at Yvonne again, pressuring her along ropes as blonde girl slides to her right. Midway through, Strahovski walks Lima onto a right uppercut off the back leg, Champ sputters out of orbit, spilling to her left and DOWN SHE GOES! Adriana pounding right hand on canvas before getting up all wobbly-butt. Vonnie pitiless, loping in after the 8, drifting the lead right hand, then kissing her the come-back curling hook. POOR LIMA! Angel strafed, rocked back into ropes, desperately trying to keep her earmuff guard up, but OH the pasting she's taking. Sinuous long-bodied blonde twisting on her hips, getting buns and legs into the act, just torqueing on the pounding. At the bell, both beauties lean forward gloves-on-knees for a moment, chests heaving for different reasons. Adriana makes a point of meeting Yvonne’s eyes, letting her see the defiance.
R6: Yvonne leggy to midring, establishing the stitching jab with the left arm pre-extended, wheeling clockwise around the chipping connects, dropping in pin-point right hands to back up her jab, keeping Adriana defensive. Lima showing some head movement, but double and triple spitting jabs find the mark regardless. Strahovski leaning into stiff right hands against Adriana's guard, freezing it in position, then popping hips-right to RIP left hooks in behind Champ's right elbow. Famously sturdy Lima absorbs rangy thump with a stoic wince, but Straho's starting to break through to her core. Adriana turning on the spot, encircled by Yvonne’s sinewy legs, blonde just too classy - darting in and out, moving to her left, collecting a methodical shutout.
R7: Yvonne splitting Adriana’s guard, punching her head back. Lima backpedals a few steps, hooks Strahovski’s chin, blonde willing to take, chops a short, elbow-in right hand to Champ’s face and suddenly HAMMER AND TONGS! Girls lathering away same short, hacking delivery from the shoulders, chopping left & rights at offending faces and breasts. Blistering toe-to-toe for a few sizzling moments: Adriana buckles! Lima rocked to her left, stumbling in fenceholes: SHE catches Strahovski charging in on a rising left hook, pre-empting blonde’s jab, Yvonne walks through the sock, steps into a hook, turning tight into the blast to chin, follows up a choppy right from the shoulder, chopping the left from her right foot. Walking barrage of face-punches drives Adriana to ropes: SHE RIPS STRAVOSKI A DESPERATION HOOK TO CHOPS! Lima wobbly butt, saves herself from another jailbreak as Yvonne is momentarily stunned—HAMMER AND TONGS AGAIN as woozy beauties stabilize and churn away. Lefts and rights—LEFTS AND RIGHTS! Groggy, mindless leather shoving back and forth, pounding each other raw and STRAHOVSKI GOES DOWN! Lima punching, punching, punching, just rock’em sock’em robots even as Yvonne’s wilting forward. Blonde on all fours as Adriana stumbles away to the wrong corner at the bell, round of the year candidate has both fighters in shambles. Whose corner can patch more of a fighter together?
R8: Adriana over to offence, looking to press; Yvonne backing away, catches the brunette a lovely check-hook counter to chin, stunning Lima at the open. Now Strahovski over to offence: right to Adriana’s breasts; hook to mouth; follow up hook misses as champ leans out. Now Lima back in with a right to Straho’s mouth: girls trade hooks and BLONDE GIRL’S ROCKED! Yvonne swaying on the spot, hands at her waist: Adriana’s chest heaving, not much better off; slaps a hook, then drifts her a right. Strahovski listing badly to starboard, staggering off to her right—Lima hopping after her, clubbing right hands upside the head and YVONNE GOES DOWN! Straho laid out on her side, rolls to her back weeping, hands up above her head, left knee up, right leg out straight. SHE CAN’T BEAT THE COUNT! Yvonne shuddering with “I’m hurt” tears, can’t get off her back—stunning come from behind KO8 for the winner and STILL Lightweight champion, Adriana Lima!
After: Yvonne rolls over, makes it to all fours, breath still coming in heaving sobs, doesn’t even have her gloves off, WHEN LIMA MOUNTS HER FROM BEHIND! Adriana sending a message to all her would-be challengers as she proceeds to ride a stumbling Strahovski bareback: Woe be unto those who come for what is mine!
Rose/Merna, Atkinson/Upton, now Lima/Strahovski. This is the third time in as many months that O&E and Lookout fighters have pounded each other into kindling into what is turning into a full-scale war between the stables. How long can they keep this up?
