Cher: (24, 5’2 5:0 BBU, BBU Free Agent)
Results: Vassago / Story: Caspian
Before: Cher looks to keep her KO streak alive while Diana seeks revenge after the unfortunate Danielle Sharp experience. Yet, some still slapping their foreheads in disbelief at this particular SIR challenge towards the one and only Cher Lloyd - the British singer finding immense success not just in her singing career but in the ring so far, leading her to immediately accept the challenge with a ‘Hell yeah!’ especially when she found out who her opponent was. “I mean - she gets knocked out by Danielle Sharpe, and now she wants to take me on? Who does she think she is??” Cher sounding incredulous at the pre-fight interview. If this is SIRENs’ way of betting on a long shot, they certainly have a knack for putting their girls in dangerous situations like these. However, Diana Korkunova not looking like the pressure turned on, walks through the curtains almost like her old, spritely self when we first met her. “Danielle Sharp and I - we’re gonna have our rematch sometime in the future. For now, people keep on assuming that I need to be babied and that I shouldn’t be ‘fed’ to someone like Cher Lloyd. Well, I’m the one who requested for this match, so let no one else say that I’m anyone’s baby” Diana nods confidently as she concludes. Diana in dark blue bikini and briefs, white gloves. Cher dressed louder with red bikini and black boxing shorts, red gloves. Referee signals and we’re off to ten rounds of Flyweight action!
Round 1: Cher goes in early, all-in, doing away with that traditionally slow build-up of the first round, that touchy-feely dance where you feel your foe out. Instead, she’s the first one to drive a long jab straight into Diana’s face, stunning her. The Brit singer dominates this way for the rest of the round, picking Diana off repeatedly from afar and leaving her in the dust. The Siren is simply NOT used to being out-boxed in terms of this level of speed. So far, all her competitors have tried to impose their strength and power, but now Cher matches her foot for foot in terms of agility and aggression. Diana’s attempts to fight back with jabs to the head mostly deflected by Cher’s strong defensive experience, and Diana l gets her body beaten on in response with Cher firing off effective counter blows and drives the Instagram model slowly backwards to the ropes. Towards end of round, Diana in a panic, protecting that cute face of hers but then leaving her body open to further barrage. At the bell, Cher shows everyone that she’s in total control with a raised fist, strutting around, proving to everyone why she’s on a win streak and Diana is not.
Round 2: Another disastrous round for Diana Korkunova, who, to her credit, attempts to incorporate Head Trainer Henry Carvill’s advice for her mid-round: moving her feet a lot more and trying not get cornered by an aggressive Cher Lloyd. Well, the defensive strategy works to certain extent, creating distance between both hellcats - Diana even bouncing a few lefts and rights off the singer’s face before retreating. But Lloyd adjusts too quickly, pounds on Diana’s guard as often as she can when she gets in range, before crowding out the negligent brunette and shoves her back the ropes with a power cross. It’s Cher’s time to shine! She plugs rights and lefts straight into Diana’s body - Diana trying to get out of there, but legs all entangled by Lloyd, who doesn’t let her move an inch with her own feet, continues bruising the tummy with chopping fists. Diana stubborn though, through her gagging and grunting, refusing to let her head be next target. But by the bell, it’s clear she’s on a collision course with the canvas if she continues to let herself get brutalised in such a manner.
Round 3: Diana looking worse for wear as she sluggishly rises from the bench. Cher though a wide smile on her face, even has nerve to make rude gesture at Diana’s direction before bulling right at her. Diana snaps out of stupor at last moment, sees Cher coming and tries scooting out of way. Cher liking this strategy of using punches to crowd Diana to one corner again. Henry Carvill screaming from his: “MOVE, D, MOVE!!” Diana complies best she can, escaping brunt of blows thrown at her body only at the last-minute, then BLASTS A RIGHT HAND right into Lloyd’s face! Blow shocks and spins her to the side with a Oooouuhh! Singer groggy but steadies herself quickly behind both hands as Korkunova suddenly decides to ignore advice and CHARGES IN for payback. Shocking blows to the body in close quarters as neither girl wants to back down. Still, Diana getting points for scoring the most number of punches since her first round, bunching Cher’s midsection, but Cher clearly the one in better shape after two rounds of being the one delivering abuse. A return one-two punch to Diana’s chest stuns her, then a ROARING left underhook slams into Diana’s midsection, folding her in half and almost taking her off her feet in the process - Diana’s eyes go wide as her knees suddenly buckle under the weight! IT’S A KNOCKDOWN for Cher Lloyd! 1...2… Diana gasping on her knees, arms cradling midsection. Cher again plays the crowd, blowing kisses whilst circling slowly around her foe. 3….4… Diana attempting to rise in the middle of the ring. Referee right there, counting and asking if she wants to continue. Siren nods vigorously. 5...6… Diana’s up, though on wobbly feet! Thankfully, bell rings immediately after, signalling the end of the round. But all signs point to another heartbreak for the Siren as the Cher Lloyd freight train continues chugging on well into the third round.
Round 4: Overconfident Cher still strutting out of her corner and posing for the cameras even after the bell, but Diana hurries forward to engage her directly, surprisingly the crowd who already began to write her off. Siren needs some magic to catch up with her foe, makes it so with mid-range attacks for most of the round and generally just trying to out of the way of Lloyd’s punches. Commentators also start questioning Cher’s strategy here. Like, what the f*ck is she doing? Best description would be that of a she-wolf toying with her dinner, circling Diana with a sly grin, barely throwing any punches and at times, even lowering her guard open to the side in a show of dominance, taunting the helpless Diana. This proves to be fatal for Cher, as suddenly, Diana seems to declare internally ‘Screw this!’ and plunges a right hand deep into her gut! Shock on Lloyd’s face as she squeezes her eyes shut and moans on the spot. Follow-up drumming of left-right combo on her nose snaps her mind back to reality. Brit singer tries to retreat, but it’s Diana’s turn to be on her completely, crowding her space and alternating left and right punches straight to the face and body. Lloyd suddenly unable to coordinate her guard between both her vulnerable parts, gets beaten badly to the bell in spectacular Korkunova-comeback fashion!
Round 5: Diana looks like a kid discovering a new way to torture a fly: decides to try brawling in close-quarters. No one more surprised than Diana herself who uses her speed and agility to get around Cher’s jabs and then wades in to plug her fists into Cher’s body and side. Cher growling in frustration as the blows land, tries retaliating with short hits to the side of head, but her punches lacking any power as Diana bobs and weaves. Meanwhile, Diana continues the body abuse, SMACKS a painful side-hook into Cher’s liver, stunning Cher, causing entire body to shake and reverberate from the pain. Diana takes advantage of momentary helplessness, singes Cher on the jaw with a clean right hook, sending her to the ropes, but Lloyd hangs on for dear life. Diana follows along, firing uppercut after uppercut into Lloyd’s reddening sides, rare show of growling as she exacts her revenge, but then suddenly gets pulled off by the referee when she’s about to deliver knockout blow! Beyond expectations, Diana takes control of the match, leaving a blubbering Cher stumbling back to her corner.
Round 6: Cher notably slower and more wary after the sudden abuse received. Slow start for her doesn’t do jack for Diana, however, who rushes in looking to see how far this new strategy can take her. A left hand forces a raised guard from Cher, leaving her face open to a barrage of right hands from Diana. Cher nowhere to go but backwards as her nose used as a pinata for a good 30 seconds. Cries and cheers from the crowd as sudden flecks of red start flying and Diana spills first blood from Cher's nose, which begins leaking red uncontrollably. Realisation on the Brit singer’s part does her no favours - she’s momentarily stunned at the sight of red liquid all over her forearms and gloves, which leaves her open to ANOTHER big right hand from Diana to the face-- Cher’s head spins faster than her body, rotating 360 degrees on the spot-- AND DOWN SHE GOES in a heap! Simply FLOORED by that right cross! Korkunova chest heaving in and out as she stands on top of her squirming foe. The upset is on, ladies and gentlemen! WIll Cher’s winning streak end right here?? 3...4… Cher turning over on the canvas, one hand pawing at the ground, the other holding her bruised, battered and bleeding nose with one glove, trying to stem the flow. 5...6… Diana recuperating best she can in the corner. Signs of a smile slowly returning to her lips as the crowds acknowledge her efforts by chanting her name ‘KOKOKO KORKUNOVA!!” 7….8… Cher uses ring ropes for support, pulls herself up with a loud groan, strain on her body as clear as day. Referee checks if she’s okay, waves for the last minute to continue when the singer nods painfully. Here comes Korkunova, who literally LEAPS forward with a giant superman punch that SLAMS into Cher’s face! The Brit’s eyes and nose disappear for a second, and then the pain simply becomes too much for her to handle. Streaks of red now free-flowing down her nostrils, but NO love lost for Diana, who exacts sweet revenge by jamming fist after fist into cheek and jaw. Diana must be thinking to herself: ‘How much more can this girl f*cking take??’ Final right hook SWIVELS Cher’s head to the side one last time: Cher flies into the ropes then rebounds face-first into canvas. A second knockdown for Korkunova but the crowd saw this coming now.… Cher’s not stirring an inch on the ground this time. Referee takes one look and waves off the fight!
Official Decision: Diana Korkunova defeats Cher Lloyd via KO6!
After: What a glorious comeback for Diana Korkunova, who celebrates by mounting each side of turnbuckle and waving a fist in the air in circular motion, inciting her fans to even louder cheers. Together with the reporters, the Sirens swarm in to congratulate her. Asked what was going through her mind during the mid-fight, Diana responds: “I told myself over and over that I could beat her. It was just that simple. Also, I started picturing Danielle Sharpe’s face on her,” Diana jokes with a smile. Of course, ever-gracious, Diana goes to check on Cher, who’s being revived in the corner. Cher looking slightly distraught after she comes to, disappointment clear on her face at the ending of her win streak, but takes Diana’s hand anyways and both girls vow to meet again in the ring one day with a short whisper in the ear. “Of course I’m disappointed. But heck if that wasn’t a good and proper free-for-all,” Cher tells reporters later on. “I think I learnt a lot from this fight, as I’m sure Diana did as well. We promised we would go at each other again someday, and we will.”
