Before: Devon Windsor coming off a disappointing loss against fellow big girl Ireland Baldwin, but pleasantly surprised when she finds out VIX's calling her up to fight her on their turf. “I did *not* say that,” Devon clarifies with reporters prior. “Based on what I know, this is a scouting mission. I don't think they’re under any obligation to sign a contract with me after this. I’m just glad to be back in the ring again so soon.”
The blonde is selling herself short though: she’s got the height, with a powerfully-built frame to boot, shown off via white bikini covered by a pink satin robe. Previous showing against Baldwin may have been rough for her, but she brawled well enough for VIX officials to take notice. Of course, Devon was well-known even before that - American model has been well-spotted on the fashion runways, modeling for Prada and of course four times for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
Speaking of VS, that's exactly where her opponent was first scouted from as well. Coming in at 5’11 herself, Valery Kaufman was named ‘Model of the Year’ by Glamour Russia and is a fellow veteran of the Paris, Milan and New York fashion week circles. Hailing from Russia, she cuts a commanding figure on the runway, hoping today to best her fellow Victoria's Secret Angel.
“Devon had her shot before, and she blew it,” Valery comments in a thick Russian accent. “To be honest, she doesn't belong on this card. And for the VS show - I hope they don't invite her back this year. It's time for the new girls to shine.”
Both girls taking the stage after the press conference - what’s supposed to be a friendly exhibition turns into cutthroat competition as both girls here to prove their worth. Valery acting all huffy and poking Devon in the chest with a finger repeatedly, not sure what's she saying along with that, but guaranteed to be nasty taunting. Devon plays professional, allows her chest to be poked, returning a small smile on her face to show who’s really in control.
In the ring, referee does last-minute checks and gets an earful from fans who have come in support of their favorite models. Here we go with ten rounds of Lightweight action:

Round 1: Devon putting on another good show of snapping a crisp jabs right into Valery’s face whenever the two get close. Pounding of fists on Valery’s nose and lips initially met with stunned shock - reminder that these are newbies we are still talking about - not at all used to putting up an effective guard until they get punched in the face repeatedly. Valery recovers soon after, however, hiding more fully firmed guard, but retaliatory jabs thrown at Devon’s face simply hit at her forearms - Devon slightly more seasoned, after all. Blonde takes the round in quick-paced fashion, pestering Kaufman throughout with her superior range and strong jab, leaving the Russian struggling to catch up and exert herself.
Round 2: Valery experiments with a counter-attack by rushing in - maybe close-quarters brawling would suit her better? And it works for a moment - Valery torturing the body by shooting short, snap uppercuts into Devon's tummy and chest, but Devon quickly creates some separation by exclusively bunching up the Russian’s cheeks with quick and stiff jab-jab-jab. And Valery is forced to retreat again due to pain ringing through her head. End of round sees Valery holding her ground, letting the platinum blonde come on to her warily, shooting her fists high, taking the Russian's bait: Valery ready though… swatting errant hands away then WHAPP - jams a straight glove into Devon’s face, giving her a taste of her own medicine! Round ends with there and then, however, giving Valery the comeback with a slight lead. Devon rubbing her cheek judiciously as she traipses back to her corner.
Round 3: Wild brawl occurs in the second minute when both girls decide ‘To hell with it’ and deign it of the utmost importance to plant fists on each other’s bodies. Valery going straight in to plunder tummy, clearly having done her homework by bunching Devon’s belly in with heavy fists - same weakness that caused her downfall in the previous fight. Devon getting hurt, body shuddering with each invasive blow, but not sitting idle herself, drumming Valery’s cheek left and right with leather, slapping fellow model’s face about in tight-quarters. Somehow, Devon sucks up the pain in her middle and pushes hard on, beating Valery backwards with more deliberating fists to her cheeks. Valery reduced to back firmly against the ropes, both arms clinging on around Devon’s waist, still shooting in gloves into her tummy, but Devon doing more damage up top, according to the judges. As the bell rings, however, it looks like none of the girls feeling like they came out on top of the other this round.
Round 4: Dangerous turning point as both girls look hurt from previous round's brawl but outcome will depend on who manages to take advantage now. It’s Valery who zooms in to target bruised and vulnerable tummy region yet again, drawing loud grunts as she relentlessly plugs uppercuts into Devon’s body and chest at every opportunity. Devon looking like she’s sinking in wet mud - every time she advances to bounce gloves off Valery’s face, the Russian seems quicker and ploughs fists into the belly: pain shoots up her spine and stops Devon in her tracks cold. Round 4 paralyses her in this manner - she needs to change up her approach or her legs are gonna give in very, very soon. Valery looking extremely pleased with herself, shaking a right fist at Devon when the bell rings, and threatening her in Russian: "Я сломаю тебя пополам, блондинка!" (Translation: I'm gonna break you in half, blondie!)
Round 5: Valery making good on her threat by rushing straight at Devon at the bell, her eye on the blonde’s reddening midsection. Devon little choice but to play defensive, covering up her middle and scooting around the ring to avoid Valery’s seeking hooks aimed low. Valery punching frequently, but scowl returning to face as she misses the blonde’s body by mere inches, receiving painful jab after jab to her own face instead. Devon’s focus here will be her asset in the long run - when she concentrates, her punches seem to ring true and hit home, making Valery bleed points with her precision punching. Late round: one-two jab jams upwards into Valery’s nostrils in painful combo… crowd roars when Valery’s nose reduced to sudden, bleeding mess, made even more scary by her growling lips and watering eyes as Devon manages to draw first blood from her focused, relentless pounding. Thankfully, round ends soon after, and Valery’s corner do their best to calm their girl down so as to not aggravate the flow of blood.
Round 6: Patched up, Valery shuffles forward once more into the breach, hoping to surprise Devon like last time - no dice, however, when Devon CRASHES a right cross straight down the middle of her chest, slipping in between Valery’s hasty guard and catching the Russian model dead on the nose. Immediately the red starts to flow judiciously down her mouth and drips onto her chest, and Valery backs away, breathing hard, trying to stem the bleeding with a glove. Devon recognises it’s now or never - another quick one-two jab hits Kaufman on either cheek, then a right fist CRASHES in and SWIVELS face to the side!! Valery staggers from the force of the blow, but the ropes save her from going down. Devon on her immediately, smashing right hand after right hand into Valery’s face, body, face, body in comeback, payback fashion, finally toppling her over and sending the brunette crashing down to the ground with a THUD. Knockdown for Devon Windsor!!
Valery blubbering on her tummy, eyes in confused shock, as she struggles to reach for the ropes… but the bleeding makes her reach up on her knees and collapse back down repeatedly, completely out of it... Referee takes one look at her bloody face and calls it off for her own safety! It’s over!!
Official Decision: Devon Windsor defeats Valery Kaufman via KO6!

After: Redemption for Devon Windsor as the tall and lanky blonde celebrates with jump and roar into the assembled crowd. All signs pointing to an illustrious career for the Victoria Secret model fell short in the last New Blood Welterweight tournament, but now, perhaps the future looking a bit brighter with a dominant win over Kaufman. “Of course I’m looking for a rematch with Ireland. I think my win here gives me a definite shot at her in the future. I’m coming for you, Baldwin, you'd better be ready," Windsor says directly into the camera with a pointed finger.
Valery, of course, being attended to by medical staff in the corner. The Russian model has a defiant look on her face as she swats away their nosy hands and stands up, shouting at Devon, who's still celebrating at the other side of the ring: “We’re not freaking done, Windsor. COME BACK AND FIGHT!!” Ring officials of course holding the tall brunette back as she attempts a charge at her foe.
Later, Valery’s corner of course lodging an official complaint with ring officials, insisting that the referee shouldn't have stopped the fight when Valery was clearly going to recover from that knockdown. Perhaps it was the sight of her bleeding nose that prompted that 'unbiased and completely unfair' decision. Valery herself promising her own version of redemption: “This isn’t over,” she shouts at reporters later backstage. “Devon’s still a fluke, and I’m gonna prove it the next time.”
