CELEBRITY BOXING AFTER DARK: CINCO DE MAYO

Intro:
The main event of this special Cinco De Mayo card sees the Mexican -American Eva Longoria take on Puerto Rican Gina Rodriguez.
The now 42 year old Eva is 5'2 and holds a record of 20 wins, 15 by knockout and 5 defeats, she is a former flyweight champion.
While the 32 year old Gina is 5'3 1/2, and holds a record of 1 win by knockout and 1 loss.
Coming into the fight, both girls seemed to take a dislike to each other, meeting at the press conference, exchanging a few unflattering words as they circle each other.
Security holding the fighters apart as they looked ready to claw each others eyes out, told to go to their tables and to save the fighting for the card.
Eva was asked first to speak, standing and smiling that smile that has melted the hearts of many a man and woman.
She says "I haven't got long left in the ring, I hate to admit that myself but it is true and this is something I've always wanted to do, to box on Cinco De Mayo for my friends and family, this is an honour and I don't take it lightly"
Turning to Gina, she adds "I am pleased the organisers picked you Gina, you know in your own way what this day means, but you will not steal my moment"
Gina steps up, her normally happy demeanor replaced by a serious one as she looks over at Eva, before she begins her own speech.
"I know this is important to you Eva, I respect you and the holiday but the important thing for me is getting my first win in the FCBA"
She quickly adds "I don't care if people think I'm bantamweight, fly or a heavyweight, I do care about making my family proud when I step in that ring like you, but only one of us can do that and it sure as hell won't be you"
Both girls are back in each others faces soon, all the talk appears to be over as they stare each other down, seeing no fear in their opposition, just a willingness to win before they are separated and taken off the stage.
Fight night, out comes Eva first, she's wearing an emerald coloured sports bra, Mexican flag colours on her trunks and red gloves to go with her red shoes.
Bouncing on her toes as she heads down to the ring, the crowd is going wild for her as she is their champion for tonight.
Climbing into the ring, she does a quick lap inside the ring, blowing kisses to the crowd, before she reaches her corner and focuses on getting ready to fight.
Now out comes Gina to a mixture of boos and cheers, she looks to try to ignore what's going on around herself as she starts her walk to the ring.
She's wearing a baby blue sports bra, matching shorts, shoes and gloves, wanting to keep her gear simple tonight as this is business for her.
Climbing into the ring, both fighters quickly meet in the center of the ring and go head to head, no words being exchanged; just hard looks.
The referee nudges them apart, going through the rules as the girls just stare each other down, the tenseness in the ring seems to filter into the crowd.
who are still cheering but it isn't as loud as before as most in the crowd are wondering what's going to happen between these proud Latin women.
Asked to touch gloves, both touch them up with a little more respect then expected, till they shove the others gloves before separating and heading to their corners.
The referee looks like he's happy with everything and signals for the bell to begin 10 rounds of flyweight action.
Round 1:
Off they go and quickly they come together, both normally technical boxers but clearly they want to get their anger out on each other.
Back and forth go the fighters, heads being knocked side to side till they bump bodies and clinch up, grappling as the crowd cheer them on.
The girls are pried apart, Eva sneaking under the jab of Gina, working the body of the younger girl to start to press her back.
Gina moving back to create a little room, quick hands landing a right and left cross to back Eva back up the other way.
Neither fighter seems able to get control of the other, in tight they go again, Eva nearly headbutting her opponent as she digs several body punches.
Gina being knocked back towards the ropes, but her footwork gets her out of trouble, slipping around Eva and landing a double jab.
The girls starting to calm down as they circle and start to pick their punches with better accuracy, though Eva is slipping under several punches as Gina seems to be showing her nerves now that she hasn't got her temper fuelling her.
The round nearing an end with Eva landing a hard right cross that turns Gina's head around, the crowd roaring with delight as Gina covers up.
The bell rings with Eva pounding her chest in front of Gina, the Puerto Rican girl just stares hard in reply, the girls jogging back to their corners, coaches waiting to work on their fighters as Gina is berated by her coach for not using what brought her to the table.
Round 2:
Again the fighters come out quickly, though this time they seem more measured in their attacks at first, both fighters jabbing at each other, looking for the right time to land their powerful right.
A mistimed right from Eva leads to Gina landing a hard right cross and suddenly the control of the fight ends up in the hands of Rodriguez.
Gina working Eva back with a three punch combo up top, but Eva is able to lean out the way of a right cross and move back to get a chance to clear her head.
The girls trading at midrange, soon falling back in close as they trade to the body, both grunting with each punch slapping off their abs.
Eva slipping in a right hook up top to press Gina onto the back foot, continuing to come forwards as she is looking for an early knockout it seems.
But Gina shoves Eva back with a straight punch straight onto her nose, then a left cross punch looks to reverse their positions.
Longoria tries to stand her ground, leading again to a slugfest between the two, just throwing everything they can at each other as their pride seems at stake in both girls minds.
The girls separate as they both have bloodied lips, the round coming to an end with both fighters measuring the other up.
Eva tries to land a left hook but Gina slips back out the way and lands a stiff straight punch that rocks her older opponent's head back.
The bell rings before Gina can press her attack, the girls give the other a hard look, before they head back to their corners.
Round 3:
Both fighters meet near the ring centre, both with keen eyes trained on their opponent as they circle each other with stiff single punches being thrown.
Eva quickly gets tired of this and tries to land a right hook, but all she finds is air as Gina quickly steps back and before she knows it, the littler Latin girl gets caught with a left hook to her temple.
The petite Eva stumbles back as she looks rocked, Gina coming on the attack with a flurry of punches that break down the guard of her opponent, knocking her backwards towards the ropes.
Eva manages to somehow hang on for dear life it seems, she's blinking a lot more, the referee having to pull the girls apart as the crowd look worried.
As the action gets under way again, Eva tries to retreat till her head clears, but it ends up with Gina landing straight punches between her gloves, the crowd cheering for Eva to fight back, but she is just getting beaten down by her opponent.
Gina looks in supreme control as she pounds Eva back onto the ropes, Eva trying her best to fight back, but she's getting pinned to the ropes.
The bell rings with Gina staring at a bloodied Eva, her lips are bleeding now but she stares up as defiantly as she can.
Both head back to their corners with Eva getting much more attention from her coach, cleaning up her cuts and trying to get her ready for the next round.
Round 4:
Eva manages to head out for the round, but it's clear she's hurting badly as Gina starts the demolition again from the bell.
Knocking Eva's head side to side and stepping out the way of desperate punches from her opponent, clearly in control.
A right uppercut shuts off the lights for Eva, who collapses to her back and as the referee checks her over, he waves for the bell to be rung as she is out for the count!
Winner: Gina Rodriguez KO Round 4
After:
Eva's dream night has ended in the worst possible way for her, she's flat out on the canvas with a doctor checking her over.
While Gina rushes over to her corner and mounts the ropes, pounding her chest with her fists as she's so happy to have gotten her first FCBA win to go along with her BBU one earlier in the year.
The crowd are not happy of course, raining boos at her; Gina not interested in that at the moment as she celebrates with her coach.
Eva is finally awake, helped up by her coach to her stool as she is still too dazed to do much herself, her coach cleaning her face up.
Now she's calmed down from the high of victory, Gina heads over to Eva's corner, the competitive edge off both of them as she checks she's OK.
Eva still not looking particularly interested to speak to Gina but she gives her and nod before the girls shake hands.
But Gina surprises Eva by pulling her to her feet, the crowd look to see if any trouble kicks off, but Rodriguez lifts up the smaller girl and lifts her arm up to the crowd, getting a cheer as she tells Eva "this is still your day and these are your people"
Eva smiles as she thanks Gina, both told by the organisers to go to the bar tonight in Puebla as the after card party is there.
Both girls bumping fists as they leave the ring together, going off to drink the night away and celebrate the holidays.
