Minka Kelly vs Olivia Munn

BEFORE: It's hard to imagine these bantamweight stalwarts have met only once before - seven years ago - which has more or less deprived the FCBA of a potential marquee rivalry. Neither Minka Kelly nor Olivia Munn can explain this situation but collectively deny any rumours of ducking each other on purpose. Some fans think that Olivia's confidence might be affected by her recent split from a certain NFL quarterback but Minka's current form alone should provide enough trouble for the Sceej veteran. After all, the Lioness brunette hasn't lost a non-title FCBA bout since November 2013!
Minka Kelly wears a white bikini set with blue trim and blue gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Olivia Munn wears a red bikini top with white trim and red gloves. Long black hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Ducking on purpose or not but these two vets launch an immediate leather frenzy that would make most of the blood-thirsty flyweights blush. Minka's lefty approach gives the fellow brunette all kinds of trouble as she circles the wrong way and keeps finding the Irish juice over the top before adjusting her stance and blocking off the path of that lethal left hook. However Minka just stiffs her with a clubbing right on the midriff and avoids a aerial responde to camp in Olivia's guts during the second minute. Munn aches and groans her dismay but eats a quick shot on the navel before more punishing Irish hooks back her into the corner. Kelly signs off a great all-around performance by clipping her boobs and grins in delight at the bell with Olivia looking for answers already.
Round 2:
That was a quick search indeed as Olivia pivots away from the lethal left hand and jumps onto a steady jabbing galore that halts the Lioness rush during the opening minute. Minka keeps her tempers down as she fails to land the all-important lefty but Olivia then raises the stakes by blitzing through her high guard and snapping the head back in numbers! Ugh! Minka's feet stay behind and she bends awkwardly to her left which allows Munn to smash a left hook on the liver area and subsequently pummel the Irish brunette back to the corner. Pay back time as she wraps Kelly into a punishing gut-checking drive and leaves her slumped on shaky knees at the bell - a truly strange sight after what had happened in the opening round.
Round 3:
The first and only fight between these hellcats went the distance and the back & forth nature of the rematch suggests a possible repeat, Olivia scampers across the ring to pick up where she left off only to find the scything left cross slamming her lips into jelly and wrenching her to the side quicker than she ever expected. Minka launches a furious jabbing tirade but overwhelms her opponent through sheer ammount of punches thrown rather than strict exection. Munn avoids that lethal left hand for a while but struggles to fight back in a proper manner while soaking up a steady assault on her swollen lips. Minka pounds her back on her heels but fails to trap her in the corner and Olivia throws her a nasty death stare at the bell indicating she's far from being written off here.
Round 4:
Minka loses the initial tangle in the center of the ring as she drives to turn Olivia's lips into a bloody mess and loses her balance as she chases another aerial combo. Munn ducks underneath it and delivers a textbook counterpunching hammer which tags the fellow brunette's jaw and wobbles her into a nasty piledriver on the solar plexus that turns the tables on the Irish-American. Ugh! Kelly gasps for air as she fails to embrace the looming disaster.. a left hand smacks her on the brow ridge and a follow up from the other side finds the temple TO SEND A STUNNED MINKA ON HER KNEES in the center of the ring! That almost came out of nowhere but only proves that Olivia is by no means the underdog in the ring tonight. Kelly drops on all fours as she delays her recovery but eventually fights back onto her feet at eight... and she's not happy at all. The mutual respect between these two vets is gone now and an angry Minka is still a dangerous Minka - though it's not that easy to throw her off her comfort zone. Munn fends off the hectic response during the final minute and stacks her foe cold with another belter on the ribcage. Minka staggers back to her corner and aches out as the LCA trainers examine her facial wounds - a great deal of swelling threatens the right eye but head coach Claudia Schiffer dismisses it as a mere lucky punch from Munn.
Round 5:
Olivia smells blood and Minka has to dig deep into her defensive skillset to avoid a looming demise. She hangs back in mid-range and does just enough to frustrate the Sceej brunette into abandoning the chase. Still, the numbers favor Munn and she grazes the backpedalling rival with repeated single-hands only lacking the proper highlight juice to underline the dominance. However the judges apparently know a thing or two about this thing called boxing and artistic impression alone is sufficient enough to award Munn a safe scoring - if only she could wipe that confident look off Minka's face during the interval!
Round 6:
Minka isn't perhaps the master tactician in the ring anymore but Olivia's seen the north side of 30 herself and doesn't have the zip to pounce on the fellow veteran anymore. There's a genuine reason why Minka avoids fighting girls several years her junior as she's able to outlast most of her peers and would be a ranked outsider to repeat the heroics against the likes of Chloe Bennet. She wraps Olivia into a lenghty jabbing dispute that apparently sees no winner until a left hook bounces off the Sceej girl's ear and allows Kelly to punish the breadbasket in close range. Munn has lost a little bit of her spark here and probably needs to recharge her batteries but Minka simply doesn't allow her to do that and dominates the final minute with more vicious harpoons that find an easy path around Munn's elbows.
Round 7:
Another phone booth-like dispute threatens to drag this fight into survival mode and most pundits are surprised to learn neither girl blatantly seeks a clinching respite. Olivia aches the louder of the two but eats most of the clean strikes at this stage of the fight yet she leans onto the Lioness brunette and looks for that ultimate knockout blow... heck, she'd settle for another knockdown if possible - that would kill Minka's chances to win the judges' scorecards outright... she's been there before seven years ago and the heavy slugging dispute almost warrants a lucky punch breakthrough... it's not as clear-cut as it first seems though because both women accidentally clash head just past the two minute mark and while Munn slumps forward, she gets blitzed by a quick uppercut on the jaw and almost rolls her ankle when she tries to retreat in hectic fashion... just that touch slow here and MINKA FINDS THE HOME RUN as she pierces the fellow brunette's right temple with a monster of a hook! Ugh! Olivia almost chokes on her gumshield and GOES DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE... HARD!!! Gotta love that noise if you're a Lioness fan!!! That's a classic thump Derek Jeter would be proud of - if he actually still dated Minka... the boxing purists don't mind the glamour part though as Olivia is left sitting stunned on the canvas before sliding on her back with one ugly headache... KO7 Minka Kelly!!!
AFTER: Minka remains gracious in victory - which becomes a recurring theme in her post-championship days. She checks up with the fallen brunette but affords herself a little smile when she notices that Olivia covers her face behind her gloves and refuses to accept the bitter reality of defeat while staying down on her back for the best part of a minute. Any result like this indicates that Minka is far from being left for dead by the fellow elite contenders and poor Olivia just found out about it the hard way... the Lioness way... the Minka way!
