Cassidy Freeman vs Carrie Prejean (Lioness Club of America vs Sceej Boxing) (20-14-1, 16 KO vs 2-16, 1 KO) Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: This fight looks like a mismatch on paper but it's Carrie Prejean who issued the challenge and triggered collective head-scratching all across the FCBA community. After all, Cassidy Freeman is a former divisional champ and even a lenghty spell on the sidelines followed by a rough defeat at the hands of Kate Upton doesn't justify her being an easy target for someone who was once called the worst lightweight ever to grace the boxing ring. The odds are outrageously stacked against the former beauty pageant who remains in good spirits during the introductions whereas her opponent asks her if she wants to back off at the last moment here. The deadline for withdrawals has passed though!
Cassidy Freeman wears a black basque top, matching hotpants and red gloves. Reddish hair tied in a curly ponytail. Carrie Prejean wears a yellow one-piece swimsuit and white gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a custom ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.
Round 1: Carrie's supreme reach is the only asset she can use to her advantage but the scattered attacks make no impression on the veteran redhead who refuses to chase an obvious opportunity for a classic KO1 slam dunk result. She hangs back in mid-distance instead, literally trying to find out what's really behind this mind-boggling challenge but any fan who expected a new and improved version of the pageant is treated with the same old underwhelming girl who only manages to land some single strikes because Freeman refuses to pounce on her in a proper manner. Let's make no mistake, Carrie remains very game that she even keeps showing up for these fights but she makes no serious impact during the opening three minutes here tonight and is lucky to avoid a late aerial swing as Cassidy finally decides to flex some muscle.
Round 2: LCA's head trainer Claudia Schiffer reminds Cassidy that she really needs to get on with it or else she won't make the Top 10 rankings anytime soon; the opening round snoozer is replaced with a trigger-happy approach seconds into the follow up and Carrie begins to feel the heat as she gets smacked repeatedly up the middle and her guard can't handle the close range barrage whatsoever. She drops onto her heels and tries to circle into safety but Freeman's too experienced to let her off the hooks. Most of these 5'11" pageants struggle to find their feet in the ring and Prejean is a notorious case as she gets rooted to the spot once the redhead picks her off too often for comfort. The blonde's response is gallant but ineffective, she bounces off Cassidy's forehead but gets spiked with a nasty left hook on the lips and falls onto the ropes where she just can't outwork the actress and disappears behind a tight earmuff come the bell.
Round 3: Freeman streamrolls through the cumbersome guard early in the third and snaps Prejean's head so frequently even Tess Valmore bursts out laughing in her lounge. Ugh! The actress is well known for her one-punch KO performances in the past and the fact Carrie is still upright after soaking up several of these strikes from point-blank range raises a question whether the Chicago redhead is actually holding anything back here? That's probably the case but Carrie's too vulnerable to weather this storm anyway and wobbles back onto the ropes again where Freeman stuns her with one hook on the ear too many... Prejean's gloves dropped too low to avoid that one and she GETS LAID OUT FLAT just past the minute mark... Carrie lands on her left side and rests her head on the rope as she finally accepts that challenging the former welterweight champion was a BAD IDEA!!! She doesn't make an effort to beat the count and that's a very wise decision from the otherwise lacklustre blonde. KO3 Cassidy Freeman!!!
AFTER: It doesn't get any easier than this in the FCBA but Cassidy holds off the critics by reminding everyone who actually issued the challenge: "I wouldn't have stalked someone like Carrie into a fight but I guess she really has nothing to lose anymore. Instead of losing to a no-name free agent, she lost to a former champ tonight. That's actually a serious upgrade, right?" (winks).
Only the bravest of the brave can predict what happens next with Carrie's down on her luck career. Perhaps these New Blood hopefuls find something to scribble on but otherwise she's a well known lost cause.
Final result: Cassidy Freeman def. Carrie Prejean KO3.
