Pia:
(34, 5’9, 2:2 BBU, SIRENs)
Belen:
(33, 5’9, 2:0 BBU, Free Agent)

Before: Both Pia and Belen looking incredibly comfortable and as though in their natural element. “We grew up right here in paradise,” Pia smiles at reporters, acknowledging that both South American beauties used to the sand, surf and sun. “I think we’re a good fit for one another,” Pia continues, watching Belen nod her head slowly at the other end of the room.

Belen’s turn at the mic sees her agreeing wholeheartedly, albeit slight nervousness in her tone. “I haven’t fought in a while, but it doesn’t mean I’m completely rusty. I’m still going to fight to preserve my win streak.”

Pundits looking forward to this exotic match-up. If there’s any two competitors who fit the setting more, it’s these two, striding along the beach in their floral bikinis, contrasting against their tanned, toned bodies, large sun hats and sunglasses only removed once in the ring. Both ladies still chilling and all smiles at their opposing corners - not sure whether here to sunbathe or fight. But when the bell finally rings, both turn serious, Pia putting up her white gloves and Belen her red mitts as they stride towards each other.

***
Rounds 1-2: Belen has trouble finding her footing early in the first round - been a while since she’s been back here after all. This doesn’t bode well for her, allowing Pia to dominate the first two rounds at will. Pia Miller at first more cautious at her opponent’s experience over her, but after the first few punches slip effortless pass Belen’s defenses and make contact with her face, Pia gets bolder, much to the dismay of the local crowds, who moan every time Belen’s head gets knocked backwards with a hard blow. Belen of course firing the occasional hook back at Pia, but the latter’s continued jabbing taking up her attention, and Belen gets more or less shut out from points. This of course does wonders for Pia’s ego as she gets more and more occupied with offense that she starts neglecting her footwork and guard. SIRENs’ corner cautioning her against such reckless behavior in between rounds, but the brunette simply grins and shrugs it off dismissively.

Round 3: Pia tries to exact similar strategy in the third, immediately charging at Belen at the bell and firing off hook after hook into her guard, is slightly dismayed when they fail to land on Belen’s face as expected. Belen clearly not giving up just yet, her forearms up high and tight, but Pia still succeeds in driving her backwards towards the ropes and goes for broke. Pia licking her lips, slamming mitts into tummy instead left right left right, thinks this show’s all hers and that Belen’s on downward spiral… but doesn’t spy counter-hooks thrown suddenly up high - first one dodged by Pia in the nick of time, second one hits Pia’s bundle of hair as she ducks under, but stunned surprise when the third of Belen’s bombs comes swooshing upwards from below: uppercut straight into the jaw! Miller seeing stars as her head snapped backwards, legs forced backwards as the crowd roars its approval. Pia grunting but clear that she saw that punch as a lucky fluke, comes charging right back in with a shake of her head in denial, but gets her face WHIPPED left-right by Belen’s follow-up punches that come swift and painfully. Belen steady, bouncing on toes, doesn’t charge after her retreating foe, liking how things are going just fine, thank you very much. Pia looks hurt by those big blows, her face more of stunned silence - what the hell? I thought I was f*cking winning?? must be her thought-process, but referee rings for the bell to end the round before definitive conclusion can be reached. Could this be turning point for Rodriguez though?

Round 4: Pia now heeding her trainer’s advice to the letter, coming out of corner quick and fast but choosing to circle around Belen like a shark instead of charging in like a foolhardy bull. Take some chunks of flesh off her opponent first, she decides. Belen still hurt, that much is clear, doesn’t chase after Miller immediately, but rather both girls exchange long range jabs at each other. Yet, Pia is the one inflicting more pain than receiving, targeting both sides of the face then bouncing out of way when Belen opts for wild swings again. Pia regaining her footing bit by bit, especially in the middle when she scores a right hook straight to the cheek, staggering the big girl into the ropes. But Pia hesitates a little too long, memory of last round’s punishment still fresh in her mind. That leaves Belen all the time in the world to recover and avoid a knockdown from the Siren. Pia back in dominant fashion, that’s for sure, but that failure to finish her foe off may cost her later in the match.

Round 5: Pia continuing with her pestering strategy, still looking energetic as f*ck as she encircles Belen and plants fist after fist into her chest and body. Belen looks like she’s gonna get shut out yet again, but rallies towards the last minute when she decides to swing for the fences. A right straight hand comes out of nowhere in Hail Mary move, slamming straight into the middle of Pia’s hasty guard. The blow is so strong that it almost knocks Pia over, but she stumbles on her feet and falls back into the ropes to avoid that humiliation. But that gives Belen the opening she desperately needs, trapping Pia on the ropes now with blow after blow to her sternum, jerking her body in half, then going up top with hooks to her earmuffs. Thankfully, Pia still alive, covering up best she can and avoids those certain-knockout blows to her face that would hurt if they landed. Can’t say the same for her body though as Belen just cleaning house as though making up for loss punches in previous four rounds, leaving Pia sputtering and gasping on the ropes at the bell. What a comeback from Rodriguez, but pundits argue that it was due to Pia’s sloppiness than anything.

Round 6: Pia’s face turning crimson in between the rounds, but not due to any punches or anything… The Chilean’s temper flaring as she seems to argue with trainers over wanting to do things her way. Bell rings and both girls collide right in the center, intent on hurting the other once and for all. Quite clear, however, how the exchange is going from the look on SIRENs’ Head Trainer Henry Carvill’s shocked face: Pia getting rocked with left and right blows, her face eating an unhealthy amount of blows from a determined Belen. Another right hand to Pia’s cheek wipes the confidence from her expression as she feels Belen’s power behind each punch. With a groan, another punch lands, and then another - now Pia’s trying to back away, her hands going up defensively, but Belen’s not letting her go that easily, jams a clean uppercut right below the jaw, and Pia crumples down to the ground!

Belen jumping up and down for joy, acknowledging the roar of the crowd as she strides back to corner. Pia collapsing onto her side and now lying flat on her back, stunned expression staring up at the bright sunlight.

3...4… With a dull groan, Pia begins long road to recovery, first managing to sit up on her hunches, then gazing longingly at the ropes a few metres too far, eyes fluttering in desperation.

5… 6… SIRENs’ corner of course doing their best to encourage, shouting (more like screaming) at their girl to get the f*ck up. Pia doing her best, and to her credit, manages one knee but the other wobbling uncontrollably.

7...8… With a heave and every muscle straining, Pia manages to get back up to her feet! But now she has the daunting task of surviving another minute in the round against a refreshed and very determined Belen Rodriguez.

Referee certainly not showing any sympathy - once Pia’s on her feet he waves for the match to continue. And predictably, here comes Belen, stalking in quick and close. Pia barely even raising her gloves when Rodriguez snaps a left-right straight into the gut, continues pounding away and sending Miller back to the ropes intermittently wailing on her forearms. This time however nowhere for Pia to run - she simply doesn’t possess the strength or agility to escape any more. Belen putting in everything in those punches, systematically swatting away Pia’s pesky forearms, succeeds a little more and more with each devastating hook that elicits a cry of desperation from Pia. Thirty seconds left and Belen AGAIN JAMS a right hand straight down the middle through opening she created between Pia’s guard, glove disappears into Pia’s face and the Siren lets out a strangled cry… AND DOWN SHE GOES AGAIN, body rebounding against ropes and face sent sprawling down onto canvas!! It’s another knockdown from the Argentine!! This MUST be it folks! Belen certainly thinks so - this time calmly striding around Pia’s fallen form, one arm raised high in the air in confident victory pose...BUT WAIT - Pia’s still getting up! Audience’s shocked gasps soon turn into full blown chanting ‘PIA! PIA! PIA!!” encouraging the Siren as she attempts to get back to her feet. Not an easy task, certainly, now red streaks flowing down from one nostril from the damage Belen inflicted on her nose moments before. But Pia clenching her teeth in a low growl, ignoring the pain that must be wracking her body and pulling herself back up by the count of 8! Belen looks completely stunned over at the other end of the ring, eyes wide and mind racing as to how much more can this girl take??

Pia steadying herself for what’s sure to be last charge of her opponent, but referee’s still checking on her bleeding nostril. What’s this - he’s waving wildly to the ring official, who rings the bell and ends the fight! Look of confusion from both girls as well as ringside as they wonder what the hell’s going on.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the referee has called a stop to this contest in the sixth round. Due to serious injury barring her opponent from continuing... your winner by Technical Knockout…. BELEN RODRIGUEZ!!”

Official Decision:: Belen Rodriguez defeats Pia Miller via TKO6!

***

After: Howls of protests erupt from not just the SIRENs’ corner but also majority of the crowds in the rafters at the shock decision. None the least from Pia Miller, who immediately confronts the referee in a corner, arguing that she’s still good to go, but the referee merely shrugs, walking over to Belen and raising her hand high in the air.

Belen of course stunned at first, but who’s she to question the judgement of the professional? She finally succumbs, breaks into a wide beaming smile… that’s suddenly wiped when Pia decides to tackle her fellow competitor from behind, sending both girls squealing to the ground in a heap of tangled hair and limbs. Well, Pia certainly looks less than ‘seriously injured’ from this angle - could this be the controversy of the day? Some pundits however arguing that Pia was about to go down anyway - one more punch from Belen would have done the trick. But tell that to the screeching girl now if you can, straddling her foe’s waist and raining down punches from above in clear resurgent fashion. Ring officials soon restore order by pulling both girls apart, Pia still kicking, screaming and of course cursing at Belen in her native tongue, vowing revenge. All that talk about sun, sand and sea a million miles away as the girls shed their respectful facade now that victory has been declared for on girl and not the other.
