BBU AFTER DARK
Posted by Vassago on June 16, 2017, 7:05 pm
BEFORE: Vera Brezhneva made a successful BBU debut last month when she stopped Gabriella Cilmi in six rounds. Tonight she returns to Cardiff to face a popular but somewhat lacklustre fellow singer Tulisa Contostavlos who got humiliated by Jessica Wright last time out. Tulisa's manager Frankie Cocozza is present inside the BBU HQ and tells Anna Woolhouse that he'll screw Tulisa's brains out if she loses tonight, well, he'll do the same even when she wins so it's definitely a long night ahead for the Camden girl one way or another!
Tulisa Contostavlos wears a red bikini set and black gloves. Black hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Vera Brezhneva wears a light blue bikini and white gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a curly ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1: Tulisa makes a hard-charging start which catches the blonde off guard during the frantic opener; she beats the older girl for a jabbing series upstairs and sticks plenty of shots straight into Vera's face which neutralizes her own aggressive approach. The blonde skims off her foe's high guard in a chaotic response but gets exposed in the center of the ring as Tulisa keeps whacking her from point-blank range and eventually sends into defensive circles. The brunette is much quicker across the canvas which helps her cover for the alleged power deficit and makes Vera looks a little upset come the final minute. The Ukrainian sends a couple of nasty hooks around the high guard but Tulisa rides out the momentum for reaminder of the round and lands a textbook cross hook right at the bell which bends the older singer awkwardly to the side.
Round 2: Brezhneva really wants to make her mark here but the superior mobility of her opponent leaves her cutting thin air for most of the opening minute in the second. She grazes the brunette's brow ridge with a quick hook but eats a similar reply in close range as Tulisa gets a little vocal and drives ahead in rarely seen fashion. Perhaps she's been told the Foxes are no longer satisfied with her mediocre results and with the Little Mix crew seemingly ready to take over the American market, the door is left wide open for her to make a major impact on the BBU scene again. That's IF she can beat a dangerous floater like Brezhneva in first place. The contest gets a little messy in the latter stages of the round, the blonde clinches her rival several times and drives her back to the turnbuckle but the clean punches are nowhere to be seen and Anna Woolhouse isn't best pleased about it, likewise the Cardiff audience.
Round 3: Contostavlos maintains her aggressive approach and lands more crisp shots up the middle but Brezhneva's defense holds ground during the close range exchange before she catches the brunette with an uppercut stinger on the jaw. Tulisa's guard was exposed several times during her recent outings and she sinks on her knees when Vera adds another powerful hook on the mouth. She wobbles forward but the blonde bumps her off with both hands and delivers another cross hook that finds the nasal ridge and drops the younger singer on the ropes for good. Ugh! Tulisa gets stuck on her heels and just can't escape from the dangerous spot anymore which Vera punishes with a leather galore thumping the stranded girl straight up the middle. Even the Cardiff audience is stunned by the swift turnaround but Tulisa remains trapped on the ropes for remainder of the round and moans in discomfort behind the high earmuff as Brezhneva cleans out shop in dominant fashion.
Round 4: It's the blonde's turn to stalk the fellow singer now and Tulisa becomes too defensive in her avoidance of close range action, she still dominates the footwork display but then almost trips up when Vera grazes her chin and wobbles to the side which enables the older woman to crash into her face with a left/right batting combo... Tulisa aches out in pain and finds more trouble soon as Brezhneva connects with her boobs and bumps her into the turnbuckle again. A half-hearted response from the back foot in blocked and Vera beats the British girl for a series of overhands that snap the black ponytail around Tulisa's neck and leave her yelping in all sorts of bother at the bell. Brezhneva eyes the killer punch alright but runs out of time to deliver it even though she tears a patch under the brunette's left eye during the frantic assault. No wonder Frankie C. isn't smiling much during the interval.
Round 5: Vera pounces on the aching foe and beats her for another brutal overhand series that drops Tulisa's high guard for good, the footwork has all gone away too and the British lass can't fend off the blonde's methodical and effective punching at this stage... the wound under her left eye has grown bigger by the minute now and Vera enjoys working around it to the point the brunette is screaming in pain whenever she gets hit there... The powerful blonde backs the younger singer into the ropes just before the one minute mark and it's a slow destruction of Tulisa's fighting spirit from there on... even the punches don't seem to hurt that much anymore... Tulisa checks out mentally as well as physically when Brezhneva pours the uppercut steam on her and eventually shuts her eyes cold... another left hook on the ear simply pulls the plug on the unfortunate Camden girl WHO SLIDES DOWN ON HER KNEES before rolling face-down at the blonde's feet... Ugh! Contostavlos is spared the count as she remains motionless for the next several seconds so the medics arrive on the scene while your winner doesn't even bother to wrinkle her concerns. Brutal KO5 Vera Brezhneva!!!
AFTER: Looks like Frankie Cocozza's after party will have to be postponed as poor Tulisa got truly battered out of her senses. It won't affect her future BBU status as she doesn't really threaten the elite contenders but the spotlight is suddenly on the Ukrainian singer who promptly followed suit on her debut success with another ruthless beating of a solid journeywoman. Unlike the Cilmi fight, Vera doesn't call out a specific opponent this time around but Anna Woolhouse thinks that Dorota Rabczewska will be looking over her shoulder very soon indeed. Some match-ups are simply unavoidable and the battle for the Eastern European/Baltic bantamweight title is looming large later this season. The other question is who's ready to halt the Brezhneva train as the large pool of free agents is more suitable to serve as cannon fodder according to Anna Woolhouse but we've seen the boldest of challenges made before so perhaps Vera's success will still lure someone out of the proverbial woods for a free publicity showdown?
Final result: Vera Brezhneva def. Tulisa Contostavlos KO5.
