TESS VALMORE
Once again it is time for our much ridiculed rankings. I remind you that our rankings differ from those of my very good friend at Boxing World. We require that a ranked fighter must fight at least every third PPV or 90 days which ever is longer. That amounts to four fights a year. You think that is too difficult? Theron used to fight more than that in a week. We also put great emphasis on the quality of competition. To our mind, won and loss records are meaningless unless the competition is taken into consideration. A 3-2 record against top ten fighters is better than 10-0 against sub 50 fighters. We do not count JMDD fights in our rankings. We do not list a champion. Our number one ranked is often not the champion
LIGHTWEIGHTS
1 ADRIANA LIMA I never thought I would be saying this, but I have to put her at one. She is on a seven fight win streak with two defenses of her title. She has wins over Arterton, Swan, Strahovski and Biel. Not too shabby
2. GEMMA ARTERTON Hasn’t fought since she lost the title to Lima. That bout was on March 1st Technically, she is within the ninety day rule. but must fight by the next PPV
3 MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD. Look at her win-loss record and it is not impressive unless you look at the competition. She seldom fights anyone other than top flight opponents. Since the last ranking, she has beaten Kerr and Strahovski to jump to three
4. YVONNE STRAHOVSKI Our former number one is in a bit of a funk. She has had a six fight win steak broken by losses to Lima and Winstead. That happens when you fight the top of the food chain
5 KATY PERRY Stayed busy with a win over Paltrow in the March 31st Asylum card. Needs to fight next PPV or drop out. Like to see her step up in competition
6 TAYLOR SWIFT. She is now on a nine fight win streak, but I question the quality of her opponents. Last fought in April
7 SERINDA SWAN Hasn’t fought since losing the Ice Hotel title to Lima. Has a gimme fight scheduled for this upcoming Asylum
8 ALLESANDRA AMBROSIO Has now won six of her last seven with a victory over Joanne Kelly in the May PPV. She could have easily been slotted at seven
9 MIRANDA KERR Now won five of her last six after beating Kendall Jenner in the May PPV
10 ODETTE YUSTMAN Returned from inactivity with an impressive win over Peregrym
WHO DROPPED OUT
MISSY PEREGRYM A couple tough losses She will be back
ANNA TORV Replaced by Kerr on account of competition
OUT BECAUSE OF INACTIVITY
KALEY CUOCO
ON THE CUSP
JENNIFER LAWRENCE Back from inactivity with a big win but future activity is in question
LUISANA LOPILATO
ALEXIS REN
WELTERWEIGHTS
In our last rankings, I was moaning about the state of the welters and pointed out the desperate lack of welters in stables. I was complaining about the number of old fighters being used. Mr V pointed out that without older fighters, it would be tough to do a top ten. He was right. In this attempt, I scanned the last three PPV’s looking for names I might have over looked. No dice. How bad was it? In the last three PPVs I counted 97 fights of which only twelve were at welter. Four of those involved fighters over 40 and in two, both fighters were over 40
KATE UPTON Is there any question? Really?
2 HANNAH FERGUSON Lost the title to Upton in the May PPV
3. GEMMA ATKINSON Hasn’t fought since losing the title to Ferguson. Must fight by the next PPV
4 AMANDA RIGHETTI Has now won three straight with a big win over Kloss in the April PPV
5 HILLARY RHODA Lost a title fight to Ferguson in the April PPV. Came back with a basically meaningless win over Bloodgood
6 KARLIE KLOSS Suffered a loss to Righetti, but then was fed a sacrificial Lamb in Theron in the May PPV
7 MICHELLE RYAN Beat Theron and Kajlich in her last two, No, not impressive but at least she’s fighting. Needs to fight by the next PPV
8 CASSIDY FREEMAN Long time member of the top ten is back from inactivity with a win over Prejean. The fight was not her idea. Freeman should rise in the rankings
9, KATRINA LAW Another frequent member of the top ten has lost three of her last four. However the losses were to Atkinson, Regan and Rhoda
10 Insert your favorite.
WHO DROPPED OUT BECAUSE OF INACTIVITY
PAULA PATTON
BRIDGET REGAN
