TESS VALMORE
Once again, it is time for our much ridiculed rankings. I remind our readers that our rankings differ from those of my very good friend at Boxing World. I require that a fighter must fight at least every third PPV or ninety days whichever is longest. That’s only four fights a year. I put great emphasis on the quality of competition. To my mind. Such as it is, won and loss records are meaningless unless the competition it taken into consideration. A 3-2 record against top ten fighters is better than a 10-0 record against sub 50 competition. We do not consider JMDD fights in our rankings. We also do not necessarily list the champion first as our number one ranked is often not the champion
LIGHTWEIGHTS
1, ADRIANNA LIMA. Successfully defended the lightweight title for the fourth time by beating Winstead in July
2, KATY PERRY Moves up from five due to losses by Winstead and Strahovski. Beat Knowles at the June Asylum
3. MIRANDA KERR Jumps to three after her recent wins over Torv and Strahovski
4, GEMMA ARTERTON, Drops to four after beating a very weak opponent in the July Asylum. Needs to get back to good competition
5, MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD. Lost a title bout in the July PPV. Could arguably be ranked higher
6. SERINDA SWAN Moves to six after her win at the July Asylum and Swift’s departure from the rankings
7. ALESSANDRA AMBROSIO Moves up one on her win in July PPV and Swifts departure
8. ODETTE YUSTMAN Defeated Peregrym in May. Needs to fight in August
9. KENDALL JENNER. Breaks into the top ten, Has now won 10 of her last eleven. Victims include Cuoco, Ren and Durance
10. YVONNE STRAHOVSKI. Drops to ten after her third straight loss. She stays in the rankings because of the competition she has faced
WHO DROPPED OUT
TAYLOR SWIFT Inactivity
ON THE CUSP
ALEXIS REN
JENNIFER LAWRENCE
MISSY PEREGRYM
A NOTE ON ANNA TORV
In our last rankings we did not rank Torv while Smackey had her at two. I criticized her lack of competition which drew a strong rebuke from her manager. He pointed out that she had beaten Theron among others. That fight was three years ago and Theron was already way on the downside. Of her last ten opponents, four had won three fights or less and six were over the age of 40.
WELTERWEIGHTS
I have been moaning about the lack of depth in the Welters. The situation has not changed for the better
1. KATE UPTON. Do I really have to tell you why?
2. AMANDA RIGHETTI She is 4-1 on the year with her only loss being to Upton. She beat Lawrence in the July PPV
3. HANNAH FERGUSON Hangs in at three despite a July loss to T, Atkinson
4. MICHELLE RYAN. Jump to four with her win over G. Atkinson in the July PPV
5. GEMME ATKINSON Is 3-2 for the year after losing to Ryan. She has fought nothing but top ten fighters
6. HILARY RHODA Has a 6-1 record for the year after a big win over Kloss in the July PPV. Her only loss was to Ferguson
7. KARLY KLOSS Drops to seven after losing a contenders bout to Rhoda
8. CASSIDY FREEMAN Manages to hang in the top ten with a win over the weak Prejean in May. Must fight this month or it is bye-bye
9. MANDY MOORE Jumps back into the top ten with a big upset win over Michelle Ryan on the June card. How long will she stay?
10. TAHNEE ATKINSON Jumps into the top ten with her big win over Ferguson in June. Has a 7-2 record
