Before: Foxfire Boxing sending Sophie Turner to the BBU to take on exotic Australian/Swedish (of Indian descendent) beauty Kelly Gale. “I am very excited to taking on a young actress known all over the world like Sophie,” Kelly Gale says. “There’s always a lot of competition in celebrity boxingbetween actresses and models and I don’t want to be the model that loses to an actress.” “Well, I most certainly don’t intend to be the actress who loses to a model—even if she is as strong looking as Kelly,” Sophie says cheerfully. “I think it’s going to come down to who has the better boxing skills and I am certainly hoping that will be me." Kelly smiles: “You can hope, Sophie, but the reality is that I’ll be the better fighter.” “We’ll just whose side reality is on this time,” Sophie says. Kelly comes to the ring in a spectacular royal blue bikini. Navy blue gloves and blackboots. Sophie with black bikini bottoms with red stripe at waistband, gold andblack sports bra.. Red gloves and boots (black laces). Both ladies have their hair pulled back in ponytail tails. Smooth ring instructions have the fightersback in their corners and the bell soon sounds.
R1: Sophie and Kelly waste no time in crashing together at midring. Both seem eager to demonstrate their punching power and cracking hits to the head mixed with fast hooks to the body. Sophie trying to work her way around and hit Kelly from the side, but Kelly keep up and countering well. Sophie then goes to the belly withhooks to try to get Kelly to back up. Kelly feeling the hits, but stabbing outright and lefts to bang back Sophie’s head. Pause and circle for a moment, then they plunge in together, going toe to toe as they bring up shirt left and rightlooks to the ribs and breasts, Neither wanting to be the first to back down sothey hang in and just keep banging. Cheers of the excited crowd spurring them on. Late the round they get to each other’s chins, but again neither wants to back down even though they are both starting to lean on each other with glassy eyes. Then the bell sounds. They look at each with bleary eyes and then turnaway. Barnburner of a round ends up a DRAW! R2: Kelly moving just a little bit faster than Sophie this round and it allows her to getin two quick hooks to the belly before Sophie can launch her first punch. Sophie keeps attacking, but now she’s encountering muscular jabbing from Kelly and get her fast busted up. Sophie dropping back, circling and then comes in lashing shots into Kelly’s torso before leaning in to get an uppie into Kelly chin. Kelly sees it coming, turns to block uppie with shoulder then swings back to bang Sophie upside the head. Sophie lurching sideways, but swings back and greets pursuing Kelly with a flurry of fierce jabbing that leaves Kelly with asplit lower lip and red swelling along her cheekbones. Kelly drops back, circles and comes in attacking just about the waistline of Sophie’s trunks. Sophie jabbing, finally able to drive Kelly back, but Kelly catches her on theside of the head with quick rights and lefts, Sophie stalls, but rounds endsbefore Kelly can get at her again. Kelly Gale awarded a close round. R3: Kelly even more aggressive as this round begins and she starts with Sophie’s side ribs. Sophie seems surprised at the attack and is confused in her response. Kelly happily taking advantage of rookie uncertainty by shifting fire to Sophie abs and breasts. Then when Sophie hunches up, she goes back to striking Sophie’s aching flanks. Sophie finally launches a counterattack to break up the body pressure as she hammers Kelly’s torso, but she doesn’t get very far before Kelly strikes at her lightly guarded jaw. Sophie almost (but not quite) knocked off her feet, but she definitely decides to put some space between herself andthe rampaging Kelly. Sophie shows some skill fighting backing up but Kelly maintains pressure to the bell. No surprise that Kelly wins round by wide margin. Sophie moving slow and achy as she gets back to her corner. R4: Up to now, Foxfire Boxing Lightweight trainer Rachel Nichols who has accompanied Sophie to the UK, has kept a low profile. Now is urgently giving Sophie advice and the dazed rookie seems to be snapping out of it. Meanwhile, Kelly Gale seems to have concluded what’s needed is more pressure and she heads right for Sophie to start in again. However Sophie deploys some slick footwork, a feint that draws Kelly off balance and this is all the edge Sophie needs to bring an overhand right crashing into Kelly’s temple. Kelly lurches forward trying to keep her shaking knees from giving way. Sophie scrambling to get in front of the clearly hurt Kelly. Sophie goes for the head, but Kelly managing to go glove in hands. Sophie then goes to work on Kelly’s body, smiting her belly, ribs, and breasts in a vicious, unrelenting attack that has Kelly being backed intothe ropes. Kelly takes a seat on the strands, tries to protect her head as Sophie swings away freely. Kelly finally lunges out and clinches, but after referee separates them, she is driven right back, Kelly clinches and this goes on to the bell. Crowd is nearly as stunned as Kelly Gale at the sudden reversal of fortune. Sophie Turner watches Kelly trudge by with a grim look of satisfaction. Sophie returns to her corner and gets a big hug from trainer Rachel Nichols. Round goes to Sophie Turner in a shutout. R5: Kelly slumped on her stool seems barely revived despite the work of the crack Girls Friday corner team. She is slow and defensive as Sophie Turner moves in on her. Sophie circling, stabbing out with rights and lefts that Kelly is sluggish inresponding to. Sophie then goes to the midsection and works it, but she mixes in some probes of the head, though most of these are blocked. Kelly jabbing more and more as the round progresses, but they don’t seem to have much power in them, Then Sophie drops back and Kelly tries to lunge after her. Too late, Kelly realizes she has been pulled into a trap as Sophie unloads rights and lefts to the jaw. Kelly stumbling back, trying to stay away, but her high guard is falling part. Sophie brings in a right uppercut that lifts Kelly’s chin, then hits with a left uppie to the chin AND DOWN GOES KELLY! Kelly lands hard on her butt, the swoons onto her back, arms outflung. Legs straight. Referee moves in as Sophie goes to neutral corner. Kelly stirring, pushes herself into seated position and then tries torise. No go! Kelly falls back into a sitting position, she holds herself up byleaning on one arm, but that’s all she can do. She hangs her head as the countreaches: “NINE!”…”TEN!” “YOU’RE OUT!”
THE WINNER:SOPHIE TURNER DEFEAT KELLY GALE KO5.
After: Sophie and Rachel Nichols hug as they hop up in down in excitement. Sophie sees Kelly being helped to her feet and goes over to make sure Kelly is all right. Kelly looks very sad and Sophie tries to comfort her with a hug. Kelly then ledway. Sophie goes back to Rachel and the rest of her Foxfire Atlantic crew.“I had a wonderful time and I don’t say that just because I won. The Foxfire Atlantic team has been very gracious to Rachel McAdams and myself. I hope there will be more such adventures in the future and I want to be part of that. As for tonight, I credit Rachel Nichols for suggesting try my feint work. We’ve been working onit in sparring and I really needed something to turn the fight around. It worked and suddenly the whole fight was different. I know it won’t always work, but when it does it is impressive!” A crestfallen Kelly Gale says: “Frankly I think Sophie was lucky. I was winning that fight, but she turned slick and I wasn’t expecting it. Chalk that up to a painful lesson learned. I certainly hope to fight her again. There is no way she get away with that stuff on me twice!” Fight just goes to show how what looks like a losing fight for one fighter can suddenly be turned around. Sophie Turner now is revealed to have a bag of tricks. Of course, once they become know they won’t be quite so tricky, but we suspect she will try them again or deploy something new. All in the education pattern of a successful young fighter. But Kelly Gale is a young fighter too and she certain did learn some lessons in this too, but of the more painful kind. Still a lesson learned is a lesson learned and we’ll have to see what the young model does in future ventures.
