BEFORE: Despite getting the better of both Laura Vandervoort and Eva Mendes there are still some question marks regarding Katheryn Winnick's late-blooming boxing potential. The entire Dollhouse entourage shrugs them off without much regret however booking a fight against Natalie Dormer offers a curious upside indeed. The Reading-born blonde rides a three year cold streak but remains a genuine floater in the 120 lbs division according to most neutral fans and experts alike.
Katheryn Winnick wears a white sports bra with black trim, matching hotpants and white gloves with black "Venum" wording. Long blonde hair tied in a curly ponytail. Natalie Dormer wears a pink bikini set and black gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a high ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Natalie gets off to a quick start jabbing straight up the middle but gets blocked off in close range as the older woman jumps on a lenghty counter-punching drill that reels her backwards down the stretch. The Dollhouse coach Kristanna Loken had done her homework and Winnick doesn't waste any time before stacking the younger blonde up in a frantic defensive fashion. The punches may not be the hardest seen around the division but they find their mark and leave Dormer riding the ropes come the final minute. This is as aggressive as anyone expected from Winnick but Dormer isn't the only one looking shocked at this rough treatment from the older woman.
Round 2:
Dormer finds more agility and escapes the initial jabbing rush from Winnick and develops a counter-punching assault of her own to neutralize the high-flying cougar. Katheryn tries to brawl her way through the English guard but gets caught on the return and the phone booth-like exchange doesn't really suit the Dollhouse fight plan. Winnick drops on her heels and doesn't have that bendy defense required to escape the heat. Natalie lands several clean punches to the chest which really dent Katheryn's aggressive approach before driving her back to the ropes for a good measure. Winnick can only clinch her as she applies survival mode to run down the clock.
Round 3:
More of the same in the third, Natalie beats the fellow blonde to the punch and channels her aggression in supreme fashion; she pierces the older woman's solar plexus and settles down for a proper body assault that leaves Katheryn vulnerable. Even coach Loken can do little about the close range struggles of The Dollhouse fighter and Dormer almost knees her in the groin before wrestling her to the ropes where she keeps pounding away to the body. That relentless attack bends Winnick forward and caves her behind a tight guard that simply isn't good enough to prevent the younger blonde from repeatedly drilling her midsection. Ugh! The moaning at the bell is real and it only comes from one woman here...
Round 4:
Katheryn recovers from a couple of difficults rounds to slam a nasty hook across Natalie's nasal ridge but it goes uphill from there as the English blonde simply refuses to back off and enforces another close range struggle. Winnick manages to slip through with several promising shots on the body however Natalie's determination shows no signs of slowing down as if she realizes that a loss tonight means she would struggle to beat anyone out there given her cold streak. Both women wrestle each other to the ropes where mind over matter takes priority and leads into a lenghty stalemate come the final minute.
Round 5:
Winnick strikes it big when she slams another wild cross hook against Dormer's nose but this time she manages to take advantage of that and thumps the English foe on the chest in a furious follow-up fashion. Natalie tries to swing something from the back foot but misfires badly and allows Katheryn to land more crisp punches from point-blank range. The Dollhouse veteran reels her opponent back to the ropes with more accurate punches that stack up against Natalie's cheeks but the embattled woman finds some agile footwork to escape more damage even though she almost defaults the round in the proccess. Winnick's on the prowl thereafter but can't put enough weight behind her shots to really punish the younger blonde and looks somewhat upset at the bell while Natalie gives her a proper death stare instead.
Round 6:
Both women tangle in the center of the ring and while Katheryn goes for the head-hunting assault, she bounces off the top of Natalie's forehead and gets WHACKED by a cross hook on the jaw that drops her on the heels. She tries to unload one from the back foot however Dormer beats her for another drilling shot that pierces the solar plexus and makes her groan in pain... Uh-oh! Winnick is hurt.. she bends forward with a loud whimper but fails to lock a clinch which allows the English blonde to slam her with a nasty hook on the ear... Katheryn fish-tails backwards and just can't keep her gloves together anymore... DORMER SLAMS ANOTHER WILD HOOK on the nose and sends the older foe DOWN on the spot! And that's a bad one for Winnick who hits the deck hard and rolls onto her right side.. coach Loken almost loses her voice in a futile attempt to make her fighter recover but Katheryn only sits up at nine and has no time available to mount a comeback. KO6 Natalie Dormer!!!
AFTER: That's a huge win for Natalie - her first since August 2014 and she has every right to be delighted! However there's a grim look in The Dollhouse corner as Kristanna Loken pounds the turnbuckle in frustration and screams out her anger at the crowd. She really thought Katheryn's winning run will continue tonight and the blonde cougar battled it out against the odds again only to succumb to some Reading punching power. That's the cardinal sin of all late bloomers, sometimes they are simply too hittable when exposed in a proper manner. And despite the cold streak, Dormer had plenty of power at her disposal.
