CELEBRITY BOXING AFTER DARK
Britt Robertson vs Victoria Justice (1-5, 1 KO vs 6-6, 6 KO) Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: Both these youngsters have struggled against the Front Street connection lately and require a proper career revival already. Britt Robertson represents the legion of soft-looking blondes who find it extremely hard to convince the naysayers and the fact she got knocked out by Kat Graham last time out doesn't help much either since Graham herself lost her management not long after that. On the other hand Victoria Justice succumbed to Emily Osment on the December PPV who isn't even an official member of the Philiadelphia-based stable. Times are rough for the two promising actresses who once shared screen time on 'The First Time' - that seems like ages ago - and they pursue the same goal tonight. Obviously it's that big 'W' - at all cost - however ESPN's Erin Andrews wonders whether they have what it takes to come out on top in a bitter survival battle.
Britt Robertson wears a light blue bikini set and white gloves. Long blonde hair with bangs tied in a sleek ponytail. Victoria Justice wears a teal bikini set and black gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Round 1: Britt gives away few inches both in height & reach but works around this disadvantage and clobbers the brunette straight up the middle; the up-tempo start catches Justice by surprise as her Puerto Rican heritage suggested she'd be the one stalking the soft blonde into retreat. Britt lands several promising shots though and neutralizes the taller girl in close range before stacking more juice to the body. Victoria's footwork allows her to escape briefly but she's forced into a looping assault from the back foot thereafter which denies her the proper power supply and plays into the blonde's tactics. Robertson lacks the precision in mid-distance but she keeps the brunette at bay for remainder of the round and that's more than she'd have wanted at this stage.
Rounds 2 & 3: Victoria is simply upset she allowed the "soft blonde" to dominate the opener and ignites the speedy assault to beat the older girl to the punch. Britt's confidence forces her into a frantic response which is so familiar within the flyweight division but it can be misleading as well and the blonde learns it the hard way when the brunette smacks her across the lips with a nasty one-two combo. The Florida-native maintains the head-hunting pursuit thereafter and knocks Britt's head back several times which allows her to reel the wilting opponent back to the ropes. The hot-blooded Latin attitude comes to the fore like Erin Andrews expected and it traps Robertson butt-in-ropes during the six minute stretch that leads the older actress into repeated moaning when Tori's punches pick her off in close range. The only issue here? Justice simply lacks the big power and requires a sustained period of dominance to finally put her opponents down. That's been the main obstacle during her career and it doesn't look like it will disappear anytime soon.
Round 4: Robertson's soaked up enough punches during the previous couple of rounds to think better off it now but she stumbles back while trying to avoid another head-hunting assault and gets wrapped in Tori's leather frenzy that cuts her up on the lips and leaves trembling in wake of some vicious follow-up. Justice barks in her efforts to finally make the pressure count and she drops Britt's guard for keeps before turning from the hip and blasting her on the jaw just past the one minute mark. AND THE BLONDE HITS THE DECK!!! It's been long-time coming and Britt's non-existent defense contributed to this scenario. Ugh! Tori shouts back at the audience and thinks she's wrecked her foe beyond repair however that's one stubborn free agent there and Robertson beats the count at eight even though her eyes remain a bit misty here. She's lucky enough to avoid a bulldozing rush immediately after the command but spends the remainder of the round in a frantic retreat before clinching the brunette in desperate fashion come the dying seconds. Tori scowls in disapproval and even though she lands some crisp shots to the ribcage, she fails to shake off the clinch and looks genuinely upset at the bell.
Round 5: The writing is on the wall for Robertson any which way according to Erin Andrews but the blonde survives another hectic assault from the brunette and Tori succumbs to the short fuse sin which affects her precision badly. Britt weaves away from danger as Justice clips her on the flesh repeatedly but there's no real power behind these efforts and the blonde jumps on the counter-punching drill when Victoria finally gasses out in the second half of the round. It's more even now and Britt steps up to knock the dark ponytail back when she beats the heavy-breathing foe to the punch, it's almost a brawl-like display in the closing minute but both girls trade equally vicious punches and Erin Andrews admits to being impressed by the blonde's attitude, she looked in all sorts of bother before the fifth yet Justice's fitness handicap becomes too obvious and allows the older actress to claw herself back into contention.
Round 6: A stinger of a punch catches Justice on the lips seconds into the sixth and Britt buries a low hook on the navel immediately afterwards to wrap the Puerto Rican babe into a jabbing rally that stacks the younger girl behind a desperate earmuff. Britt establishes the close range superiority and yells out while delivering the heat which wrecks further havoc in Victoria's physical shape. If the brunette lacked power before, she's gonna be starving for it now as she just can't punch herself free and gets bounced around the ring until Robertson finally cuts her up herself. Ugh! The hooking barrage hoofs the mitts aside and when Justice lands on the turnbuckle she just can't stop moaning her heart out while the blood begins to leak from the damaged lips. And Britt's eyes light up in wake of that sight so she just CREAMS the brunette's face thereafter and SENDS HER SLIDING DOWN against the cornerpost inside the final ten seconds of an otherwise one-sided round. My oh my, even Erin Andrews didn't expect THAT from the seemingly hopeless blonde however the clock saves the Puerto Rican beauty from a truly inglorious demise. Still, it's Victoria's turn to enter the hot mess territory and many fans inside the arena wonder how on Earth did she let that happen?
Round 7: Victoria hasn't recovered from her knockdown the way Britt had done before and it spells instant TROUBLE for the pretty brunette. She gets WHACKED with a nasty left hook on the brow ridge and since her high guard collapses in wake of that punch, the blonde just pours in more juice straight up the middle. Se wraps the hapless opponent in a close range frenzy and knocks her head back & forth until Justice just yells out in pain and drops her gloves by the her waist. Robertson doesn't even need to switch her targets, she's well on her way to re-arrange the brunette's face and Erin Andrews reckons she can make Victoria quit while still on her feet... oh, wait! The ref has pulled the mercy card and HAULS BRITT OFF HER PREY!!! The poor Latin babe truly gave nothing back anymore and apparently there's more to her prospects than getting her face bashed in tonight! TKO7 Britt Robertson in come-from-behind fashion!!!
AFTER: So much for that "soft-blonde" thing! Britt Robertson might have served as the Asylum PPV cannon fodder lately but she can dish out the heat herself. She admits this much when she tells Erin Andrews that accepting all these Front Street gigs proved to be a mistake: "It's the old cliche, free agents aren't choosers. But this HBO money is easy to get IF you're here for the money. Most free agents are, no shame in that. But hell, that was sweat! (giggles). I mean the Tori thing! She looked so cocky out there, I guess it's that Hispanic DNA or something. It so easy to dismiss me as a genuine boxer! But I teached her a lesson tonight, didn't I? (laughs). It's almost a shame the ref stopped the fight prematurely, otherwise I'd have knocked her lights out!"
Final result: Britt Robertson def. Victoria Justice TKO7. |
