TESS VALMORE

The January PPV is now in the books. It was a large and good card, but didn’t produce any big surprises. Ferguson successfully defended her title which was expected. I am not as high on Krsmanovic as some. The rest of the news for the welters was not good. Law lost to a lightweight. That loss was her fifth in her last seven and Regan lost again. It appears to me we are heading back to a time similar to the R & R domination. There are three fighters dominating this division. It is shallow and I think a decent top ten is going to be hard to come by  I know some are not going to believe that, but they pretended the R & R division didn’t exist either.

In the lightweights, Strahovski looks like she has finally turned things around with her victory over Law. Kerr came back from her title loss to KO Lawrence and Ambrosio moves closer to a title shot with a win over Palicki, who just can’t seem to get her act together after a period of inactivity. Jenner defended her title by beating Swift. Swift was a extremely unlikely champion. By the way, Jenner is still in the Daily Mail No Talent Index. She has just been pushed down and almost out by others like the Hadid sisters.   Missy Peregrym continues to have problems. She was 4-4 last year. That may be great for some lightweights but not for her. Rohrbach's win keeps her name in the top ten mix.

Kosarin should be moving towards a title fight after beating Scodelario. She is now 10-2 with a pair of wins over name lightweights. Larson beat McAdams whose performance is deteriorating. She is approaching 40 Probably time to go. Mitchell, VanCamp and Lovato all won as expected. Robbie beat Munn. She has now won 66% of her bouts, but she is more likely to win an Academy Award than she is a title.

Megan Fox continues to baffle me. Here is a fighter who had a losing record going into 2017. Then she reeled of six wins and got a title shot which she won. She has now defended the title eight times and accumulated fifteen straight wins. Henstridge's drive to a title shot was probably ended with her loss to Hale. Danielle Campbell and Jenna Coleman all should rise in the rankings after their wins and there is always Vanessa Hudgens. No shortage of opponents for Fox as the flyweights are an exceedingly deep division

It might be noted that there were 32 fights on this card. How many were JMD/JMDD? Exactly one. Somebody named Demi Rose won. It seems JMD?JMDD are not as popular as they once were. They used be the most watched bouts. On this card the fight came in at eleven at the time of this writing
