(Girls Friday vs Free Agent)
Intro: The opening fight on tonights card in California's Stable Center, Elizabeth Henstridge fights the returning Rachael Leigh Cook. Rachael is 37 years old, stands at 5'2 and holds a record of 17 wins, 11 by knockout and 23 losses with 1 draw. Elizabeth is 29 years old, stands at 5'4 and holds an overall record of 8 wins, all by knockout and 2 defeats. When news hit that Rachael wanted to try her hand back in the ring after a horrific concussion put her on the bench at the end of last year, Alpha wanted to help with her comeback fight to make sure everything went off without a problem, helping her train in their gym and spar with their talents, her best friends. Her opponent Elizabeth is seen as one of the friendliest girls in the division, though Anna Kendrick may have something to say on that front, she's seen as someone who won't go out to hurt Rachael on purpose.
When the girls met at the press event for this card, it was like two old school friends meeting at a reunion, both rushing to hug each other and laugh as they quickly catch up. reluctant to separate but the media organisers are pointing at their watches, so they separate with a wink to each other. Both girls smiling like Cheshire cats as they sit down, Elizabeth waves for Rachael to start her speech, Rachael mouthing "thank you" Before she takes a deep breath to begin her speech "I honestly thought I'd never do these again, being able to sit and speak with you guys like this" she wipes a tear from her left eye as she gets a little emotional. "The last time I spoke to the press was to possibly discuss my retirement, some doctors told me I should never step foot in a ring again, others said I could but I have to be careful and others said I should be fine, I was so confused" the look on Rachael's face tells you how hard this is to speak about. "So I went and got a full set of tests, I can announce that I was cleared to fight as you see and while I don't know how long I really have left in my career, I plan on reminding people why I was ranked in the top 25 before I had my sabbatical, sorry Elizabeth but I have to kick your cute behind to do that" her smile somewhat returning as she still looks ready to cry a little. Elizabeth smiles at Rachael, nodding at her as she knows from the time they spent together when the ABC girls and the Girls Friday ones have met up for drinks that it was hard for Rachael to speak about those months she spent on the sidelines. Now Elizabeth gets her chance to speak, starting off with "I think I speak for everyone when I say how good it is to see Rachael back and ready to kick arse" Winking as she says "though I hope not my behind, which I honestly can't remember anyone saying about it before, so thanks" Getting a little more serious, she finishes by saying "while it's nice that we are having fun, we both know that come the bell the fun stops, I've learned that you can be friends with some opponent's outside the ring, others not so much, but there are no friends inside that ring, so Rachael; I will give you my best as you deserve, let the better woman win" Both girls are up for the final photos, a grin on both of their faces as they stare each other down with their fists raised, then one final long hug as tomorrow they are enemies.
Fight night, out comes Elizabeth first with Taryn Terrell and Lauren Berlingeri by her side, she's wearing a black bikini with a grey Agents of Shield badge on the left bra cup, she has black gloves on and her hair is tied into a ponytail. She waves to her fans as she looks bubbly as ever, Taryn as usual shaking her head at her fighters antics, whispering "keep your head on the fight" Entering the ring, Elizabeth jogs to her corner and starts to go through her warm up routine, Taryn drilling her on the game plan. Out on the ramp comes Rachael, her new coach by her side as she smiles and blows a kiss or two to her fans, she's wearing a violet bikini with matching gloves, her hair is up in a ponytail too. She looks in good spirits as she makes her way to the ring, smiling and nodding to her fans, pointing into the ring and telling the crowd "the comeback starts tonight" Climbing into the ring, Rachael heads to the ring centre to bow to the crowd, who all chant "Welcome back!" To her, almost bringing tears to her eyes, she fights them off to mouth "I love you guys" to the crowd. She soon jogs to her corner, the referee asking if she needs a moment but she replies "I've been waiting too long for this moment, let's get to it" and bangs her gloves together to show she means business as she walks to the ring centre. Both girls standing face to face, serious looks etched onto their beautiful faces as the referee goes through his instructions, the girls staring hard at each other. Asked to touch gloves, both respectfully do as told, then head back to their corners, both nodding at each other across the ring as the bell sounds and 10 rounds of flyweight action begins.
Round 1: Out come the fighters, both with tight guards as they circle and probe each others defences, Rachael looking apprehensive as you'd guess, allowing Elizabeth to be the more aggressive early on as she steps forwards more behind that jab. Elizabeth slams a few looping punches around to the sides of Rachael's body, that seems to wake the American up as she slams two punches up the center of Henstridge's gloves to her face to back her off. Both girls circle again, feinting punches to try and see if they can create an opening, the action slowing down as they try to work each other out, maybe both hesitate to get stuck in. Rachael seems to get over that as she digs a jab up top to lift the guard up of Elizabeth, then she steps in to land a right to the body of her English opponent, then adds a left cross around the guard to start pushing Henstridge back. The Agents girl tries to fire back but Rachael shows her skills as she moves her head out the way and slips under a right cross to land an overhand right to push Elizabeth closer to the ropes. If not for some good footwork from Elizabeth, she may have been pinned to the ropes, Rachael maybe becoming too aggressive as she swings a right that just misses the chin of Elizabeth. Who lands a double jab to the nose of Cook, but misses with her own right cross as Rachael gets her left up in time to block the blow. Elizabeth now tries to step forwards, but again Rachael shows her smarts and quick reflexes to duck under a left cross and land two body blows, before getting out the way of a straight aimed at her head. The crowd cheering Rachael on as the round starts to head to it's conclusion, she uses it to push on, driving Elizabeth back behind her guard and towards the ropes. A nice sidestep by Elizabeth and a double jab to the side of the face of Rachael show how dangerous the English girl is in the ring. She follows up with a right cross just before the bell to turn Rachael's head around, Elizabeth looks a little worried till she sees Rachael smile, clearly loving being back in a fight, she even holds a glove out for Elizabeth to bump. As Elizabeth bumps her own glove with Rachael's, Cook tells her "you better not be holding back babe" which gets a nod from Elizabeth, then they head to their corners to be cleaned up. Round 2: Coming out this round looking less restrained, both girls starting to let their fists go more as they look to force open the others guard. Elizabeth landing several long range punches as Rachael tries to get to the inside to close the distance between them. Using her jab up top to try to keep Rachael's guard up, she swings her shots towards the body of Rachael, clearly trying not to hit her opponent in the head. Rachael tries to slip under a left jab, but Elizabeth quickly steps back to keep the separation between them and lands a right to the cheek to stop the charge. The crowd starting to see that Elizabeth is taking control of the round, using her speed and extra reach to keep Rachael where she wants her. The American getting annoyed as she tries to move herself around these punches, but she gets getting clipped on the way in close, then finds Elizabeth has moved out the way. Beginning to work out a plan, Rachael is deciding how to get around this problem, she throws a few jabs to test out the distance, then as Elizabeth goes for a right to the body, Cook takes a big step forwards and lands a right cross, followed quickly by a right and left that caught Henstridge across her cheeks. On the back foot goes Elizabeth as she tries to keep Rachael from getting close, but her fellow actress in on the inside, pounding shots off her guard now. The round hasn't much left as Elizabeth clinches up with Rachael, she doesn't look hurt, but it is upsetting Rachael, who is trying to shove off her opponent. Once separated, Elizabeth doesn't pull the trigger, a rookie mistake or something else? Rachael comes forwards with shots towards the head of Elizabeth, who blocks most of them. At the bell Rachael surprises everyone by shoving Elizabeth, the referee close by to get between these girls, but Rachael is upset as she shouts at Elizabeth "f***ing fight me! Don't you dare hold back because you think I'm fragile!" Elizabeth looks ashamed, going to reply but Rachael storms back to her corner, not wanting words but actions instead. Taryn in Elizabeth's corner tells her "you better do as she says, because if you let her win I swear that you will deal with me if I don't think you are trying, that won't be a friendly conversation I might add" with Elizabeth nodding, looking like she means it this time. Round 3: Elizabeth tries to come hard to fight, the problem for her is that Rachael is upset and straight into attack mode from the bell. The English fighter trying to stick and move, but Rachael is right into her face with rights and lefts, digging away at the body of the taller fighter, who has to nudge her back with a left hand. Landing a double jabs to the nose of Rachael, Elizabeth looks to build of that with a right, but it goes sailing over the head of her opponent. Who comes back with an overhand right that puts Elizabeth on her heels, covering up as Rachael is banging away at that guard. Elizabeth just doing enough with her footwork to not be pinned onto the ropes and get some good counter punches in. But Rachael is the more aggressive and is landing some hard body shots that make Elizabeth groan out in pain, she even gets some looping punches around the guard to the cheeks of her opponent as she knocks her towards the ropes. Elizabeth smartly uses Rachael's own momentum, pulling her forwards and stepping around her, Rachael ends up on the ropes with a surprised look as Henstridge starts to dig three punches to her cheeks. But Rachael is up for the fight, firing back off the ropes as the crowd cheer both fighters on, it's Rachael's turn to surprise Elizabeth though by ducking a right and coming back up with a right hook. Elizabeth moves back as Rachael powers forwards, Henstridge back behind her own guard, looking to be getting sick of this herself as her arms take a beating and some shots catch her on the sides. The bell rings to end the round with Rachael storming back to her corner, Elizabeth now has a hard look on her usually happy face, maybe not the way she expected the fight to go as the sides of her body have a pink hue look to them. Round 4: Rachael is one the front foot again, trying to keep the pressure on Elizabeth, who is stepping back and jabbing away at her. The American slips under a right from Elizabeth to get to the inside to land to the body, then smacks Elizabeth across her right cheek to forve her to stumble back. The crowd edging forwards as they want a closer look, but Rachael misses the follow up punches as Elizabeth shows her feet still work perfectly as she shakes off being stunned. Rachael though still wants her, coming on the attack with head hunting straight punches, Elizabeth covering up but being forced backwards. She takes a jab to her abs that loosen her guard slightly, enough it seems for Rachael to dig a straight punch through to her lips. But the follow up left misses as Elizabeth gives her a nudge, enough to put her off and move back once more with a jab that stings the face of Cook. Rachael hunting her down around the ring, till she lunges in and Elizabeth shows her speed to sidestep her, then lands a hard hook to the body of her opponent. Gasping, Rachael looks to be hurting as Elizabeth piles the pressure on, digging away to the body of her friend, hoping to press her to the ropes. But the bell rings to end the round before she can build on her success, Elizabeth looking slightly annoyed that she couldn't finish the job. Rachael seeing the look in her eyes and knows she has the full attention of Henstridge now, maybe regretting it after the end of the round as she heads back to her corner, taking deep breaths as she goes to get the air she lost back in to her body. Round 5: Out come the fighters with Rachael looking like she's lost a spring in her step, Elizabeth dancing around her with her punches looping around her guard. Rachael tries to step up the centre like before, but Elizabeth steps forwards too and as both girls start to let their fists go, it's clear Cook can't keep up with Henstridge. Instead she finds herself being driven back as Elizabeth digs her fists towards the nose of Rachael, some blood starts to flow from her nostrils as the older fighter covers up to try and protect herself. Elizabeth not holding back, pushing Rachael back onto the ropes, Rachael trying to fight her way back off the ropes, the problem is she's being beaten to the punch. A right turns her head and she's being hammered onto the ropes, this comeback is becoming a nightmare as her body starts to be worked on. Rachael pulling Elizabeth into a clinch, the referee seeing if they can fight out of it, but he gets involved to pull both girls apart. Elizabeth lands a straight onto the nose of Rachael to shove her back, the smaller fighter stumbling back as the English fighter piles the pressure on. Rachael trying to fight back, landing a right cross, but she gets caught with a right and left across her own cheeks, she covers up again as the round ends with Elizabeth looking like she could finish Rachael at any moment. Her friend is staring at the canvas, Rachael trying to shake off this tiredness but the ring rust seems to have gotten to her as she holds the ropes on the way back to her corner. Her coach is asking if she can continue, she nods as she wants to keep going, part of her knowing it's pointless but she wants to go down swinging. Round 6: Rachael does come out, banging her gloves together to try and show she's ready to fight, but Elizabeth is stalking her around the ring. A right hook catches Rachael to the ribs, she seems to curl around the punch as she clearly is hurting as Elizabeth pounds the body. Soon Rachael collapses to her knees and shoves Elizabeth back, she's in tears as the referee starts to count her out, she's too exhausted to get herself back up and she's finally counted out.
Winner: Elizabeth Henstridge KO Round 6
After: Elizabeth is straight over to check on her friend, Rachael nodding at her to tell her she'll be OK, the girls hug as it's a hard moment for both. Helping Rachael up, there is a round of applause for the fighters as Elizabeth tells Rachael "you fought well babe, I think one of my teeth might be loose" smiling as she tries to lift Cook's spirits. Rachael does smile a little, though she soon huffs and replies "but I was supposed to show that I can still fight like I used too, I just showed that I'm easy to beat" Quickly answering back, Elizabeth replies "trust me you certainly were not easy to beat, the ring rust probably did more then I'd like to admit, but you will win fights, you just need to get back into this ring more and I will give you a rematch" That seems to lift the spirits of Rachael, pulling Elizabeth into a tight hug; regretting it as she holds her body afterwards, wincing as Elizabeth smiles and pats her on the back. Both their coaches finally get a chance to look after both fighters, getting the gloves off them and cleaning their faces as they brought their stools for the fighters to sit and chat to each other. After that is done, the girls stand up for the final announcement, the referee lifting Elizabeth's hand up to a loud cheer, Elizabeth waving to her young fans as Rachael gives her a round of applause. Rachael gives Elizabeth one final hug, before she leaves the ring to get a massage and hopefully a nice long rest after this. The winner doing a quick lap of honour in the ring, pumping her fists into the air as she beams a beautiful smile to her fans. Before she leaves the ring, she'll be hoping she can continue this success at the next PPV with the crossover coming up with the BBU.
