Gal Gadot vs. Carrie Prejean (Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)
BEFORE:
In the FCBA, anyway, these are two fighters that don't exactly have much in the way of resumes. The 30-year-old Prejean has exactly TWO FCBA wins to go with 18 losses. And, that's two more than her rival, the 32-year-old Gal, who's winless in three tries. But, maybe the FCBA doesn't tell the whole story. After all, Prejean has a Hall of Fame winning percentage (67) in the BBU, and Gadot not only has three wins in six outings, she's currently the organization's lightweight champion.
Of course, as similar as the two women's fighting resumes sound, there's one major difference between them, Prejean's profile has been, virtually, nil for over half a decade, while Gadot's is through the roof after her turn in one of the biggest films of the year. And, Carrie's well aware of that fact. "Oh, no question this is going to be a great night for me," says the blonde. "I mean, I'm going to destroy Wonder Woman in front of millions of people. I THINK that will get me some attention."
"Oh, Carrie's going to get some attention," says Gal, eyes smoldering. "Mine. And, she isn't going to like it."
ROUND ONE:
Carrie all about boxing early, showing that pageant jab. And, Gal puts up with that for about twenty seconds before going all "Wonder Woman" on her rival's behind. Gadot simply walks right THROUGH Prejean's defenses and makes with the physical. Carrie immediately in retreat. She wants space here, but space is in very, very short supply. Brunette all OVER the blonde, landing with both hands, forcing her to back and cover, and, at points, do everything but FLEE. Gadot throwing BOMBS by the middle of the round and Prejean finds herself on the ropes, taking, trying to roll with. Sceej corner screaming at Carrie to get off the ropes, but she's either unwilling, unable, or both. Instead, she takes a pounding for the remainder of the stanza, with Gadot shaking her several times with hard right hands. At the bell, it's Gal wide and with a 10-9 edge.
ROUND TWO:
Gal right forward again, but Carrie now standing her ground. She's banging back and we've got a FIREFIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING! Historians may want to note this moment, because, it may be the first time that Carrie, with her history of cravenness in the face of aggression, has fired back like this, and, would you look at that, it WORKS! She stops the brunette offensive and gets things back to level, even getting the distance she wants and turning this thing into more of a boxing match, as Gal, not willing to just mindlessly trade, starts to box with. Last minute and a half of the round features plenty of pretty good stuff for two fighters with a combined 2-21 FCBA record. Both blonde and brunette work the jab, drop rights off it, put punches together, and generally look like quality lightweights. At the bell, it's close, but Carrie, who's evened things at 19.
ROUND THREE:
Prejean feeling the oats now, out of the corner and waiving Gal forward, trash talking the brunette. Gadot seeing red, charges the blonde, winging away at her. Carrie fires back, gives some ground, lures Gadot forward and BAM! A right hand, Prejean and Gal's hurt! Wonder Woman staggers, nearly goes down, and the blonde goes all in, hammering away with everything she's got. Gadot's driven back to the ropes and given a serious thumping. Carrie's going body in spots, but mostly banging away upstairs, looking to finish this thing. Ref's looking closely as the brunette tries to hang on. Blonde determined to end it right now, while the ending's good, and she's shoving all her chips into the middle of the table. Gadot grimly taking, firing back in spots, doing enough to survive. And, she does. At the bell, Wonder Woman still standing, but it's Prejean wide and Carrie now up 29-28.
ROUND FOUR:
Gadot still wobbly as the fourth begins. Carrie forward immediately, looking to consolidate. It's all about will now for the brunette, and she passes the test. Somehow, she stabilizes her front, holds her ground, fires back, stops the blonde offensive. Prejean doesn't force the issue. She's more than willing to box at range now, and that turns out to be a mistake. A minute of that kind of work allows the brunette to get the legs back under her, and, when she's got them, the terms change. Gadot begins putting punches together and backing up Carrie with heavy fire. All of a sudden, the surprised Prejean is on her back foot and Wonder Woman is channeling all that ire from round three into her gloves. Carrie's trying to hold canvas, but can't. She's in reverse and Gadot keeps her there. By the final 45 seconds, it's Prejean taking on the ropes. She's not hurt, but she's getting the worst of things in a big way. Gal's just reefing punches at Carrie, who's in a tight guard trying to ride out the storm. She manages to do so, but, at the bell, it's Gadot wide and we're even again at 38.
ROUND FIVE:
Gal right back at Carrie. Prejean in reverse from the opening seconds of the round. We've seen good stuff from Gal before, good hands, good feet, sturdy power, and it's all on display now. She's dominating Prejean, who's taking heavy fire from all directions and can't get off, despite her best efforts. The brunette's sitting down on everything, letting the blonde have it, and Carrie's beginning to crumble under the assault. A short left hook snaps back Prejean's head and she wobbles. A straight right hand follows and DOWN GOES CARRIE! Prejean crashes to her back and Gadot stands over her, staring down at the stunned blonde until the referee grabs her by the shoulder and sends her to a neutral corner. And, from there, it's all academic. Prejean manages to turn over to her belly, but she gets no further. She's still lying face down when the count passes her by. It's OVER. And your winner by KO5 is Gal Gadot!
AFTER:
Gal as serious as serious can be. "She tried to punk me in there," says the brunette with fire in the eyes. "And, that's not going to happen. I'm the BBU's lightweight champion. I'm Wonder Woman. I'm Gal Gadot. And, people around here need to get used to seeing what they just saw, me standing over a prone blonde, because, they're going to see a LOT of it."
