Romee Strijd (Netherlands) vs Brooke Hogan (USA) (FCBA Free Agent vs Gemini Boxing Club) (0-1 vs 3-1, 3 KO) Results: Lookout; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: "To be honest, I have no idea who this chick is!", says Brooke Hogan ahead of her fight against the Victoria's Secret lingerie model Romee Strijd. "Does she even speak English? I'm with Tractorpull on this one, just because you look half-decent in a bikini, it doesn't mean you should be considered a celebrity! Meanwhile everyone knows that a Hogan name is nothing but a certified celebrity and I really should be regarded as the gold standard of the welterweight division once I knock this European tramp out!"
Meanwhile Romee Strijd enters a direct competition with fellow Dutch performers, Sylvie Meis and Doutzen Kroes. She just turned 22 earlier this month and seemingly has the highest upside among the trio but Kate Bock brutally introduced her to the world of celebrity female boxing during the 'New Blood' semi-finals back in April. She ignores Hogan's trash-talking rampage and still earns a solid applause from the crowd herself despite Brooke being the odds-on favorite tonight.
Romee Strijd wears the national orange colors and blue gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Brooke Hogan wears a navy blue bikini set and white gloves. Long blonde hair wrapped in a thick bun at the back of her head. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.
Round 1: Hogan has the power but Strijd has the reach advantage being two inches taller than her American opponent, this difference shows early on as the older blonde tries to land her heavy punches to immediately stamp her authority on the bout but simply can't force the desired range and lacks the agility neccessary to wrap the Dutch model up in a jabbing frenzy. There's plenty of effort coming from Hogan but Romee shows exceptional footwork skills considering most of these models aren't speed demons across the boards. However Hogan looks quite sluggish herself and relies on her power too much, suddenly an injection of pace from Strijd wobbles her on the heels as the longer reach prevails and allows the taller woman to land some crisp shots. Hogan tries to adjust her stance but eats a faceful of leather during the second minute and when she tries to smack Strijd right back upstairs, she gets beaten to the punch and gets NAILED on the lips with a huge left hook! Ugh! She sinks on her knees and Romee adds a left/right combo on the temples that drops the guard for keeps... another riffle of a left hook almost shoves Brooke's nose into her brains AND JACK-KNIFES HER FACE DOWN ON THE CANVAS!!! WHAT-THE-HELL-JUST-HAPPENED??? The crowd is silenced but that's the welterweight reality for you! The count passes Hogan by and we've just witnessed a genuine upset in a fashion nobody saw coming!!! KO1 Romee Strijd!!!
AFTER: An old fashioned welterweight ass-kicking brings the Victoria's Secret model a maiden FCBA triumph and it's a classic throwback to the vintage days of boxing. Most of the girls camped over 130 lbs have the power neccessary to end the bout within a split second of connecting with the haymaker series. There's just no way back from such a punishment at this weight. Romee's slender build can deceive several pundits - especially given her minimal fighting record - but one could say that Hogan simply underestimated her and paid a wicked price for it. Nobody should be underestimated here in the welters and if the Dutch fanbase was worried about their FCBA prospects Doutzen Kroes and Sylvie Meis turning 30 several years ago already, a new national star has just arrived on the scene and justified her selection for the 'New Blood' tournaments with room to spare. We haven't heard the last of Romee Strijd and the much-maligned welterweight division continues to throw up intriguing names to further battle the bad press it gets from the usual suspects! Watch this space!
Final result: Romee Strijd def. Brooke Hogan KO1.
