VICTORIA'S SECRET "WAR IN HEAVEN" PRELIMS ROUND 1

Posted by Caspian on August 12, 2017, 3:24 pm

(Words: Vassago, Results: Lookout!)

Miranda:
(34, 5’9, 9:2 FCBA, Downunder Boxing)

VS.

Lais:
(27, 6’1, 0:2 FCBA, Free Agent)

BEFORE:
Miranda Kerr enters the Victoria's Secret beach boxing tournament on the heels of an epic Australian Pride victory over Yvonne Strahovski and has allegedly personally removed herself from the Unified Lightweight title discussion to compete against all these fellow lingerie models. And of course she targets the big prize to come her way in December even though several of her potential opponents have campaigned at Welterweight and offered superior size and punching power. One of these genuine Welters has been drawn in the opening round already: Lais Ribeiro is a rare bird of a six foot presence and immediately shrugs off the underdog status, calling Kerr out in a heated social media exchange. Several pundits question this approach as Lais’ physical numbers should do all the talking but she doesn't have any significant experience to speak of, having lost one bout each in the FCBA and BBU to date. On the other hand, Miranda underestimates no one and vows to treat her like the second coming of Kate Upton, which quite frankly Ribeiro is not!

Miranda Kerr wears a light blue bikini set and golden gloves. Long light brown hair tied in a curly ponytail. Lais Ribeiro wears a yellow X-shaped one-piece swimsuit and white gloves. Long black hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The Catchweight fight is scheduled for ten rounds.

Round 1:
Lais’ energetic display in the opening minute brings her little success as Miranda quickly establishes a very agile defense and makes the towering Brazilian miss left, right and center. A counter punching assault then stuns Lais on her heels as Miranda flashes that elite class in ducking underneath the aerial attacks before driving her mitts into the Brazilian's midsection. Kerr finds her rival's vulnerable area early on as Ribeiro yelps in pain when getting hit to the body but one must assume the Australian model has done her homework even based on Lais' small tape. She roots the taller woman in the center of the ring and enjoys a field day punishing her guts whereas Lais simply struggles to work around the injection of pace and caves in behind a desperate guard. Only the bell halts Miranda's charge and that was pretty much what was to be expected from one of the best lightweights in the world right now.

Round 2:

Ribeiro tries to find some pace in her movements and channel that welter power however she gets fortunate rather than good when she clips Miranda's jaw with a seemingly wayward hook. And the Aussie model isn't exactly used to getting hit by a genuine Welter so she wobbles on her heels and enables Lais to cash in with more promising hooks upstairs. The Brazilian is still a raw talent but many pundits believe she can become a future star if only she gets embraced by some management and the traits of a supreme power are evident in this round as she hauls in more punches while Kerr settles for a circling escape. Still, speed beats power and Miranda avoids major damage, however she looks to be wary of a potential one-punch KO disaster and refuses to brawl herself into contention. She doesn't really have to at this stage and most of Ribeiro's punches cut thin air despite the looming danger behind them.

Round 3:
Lais jumps in for more success but she really needs to clatter into Miranda's flesh during the initial tangle or else... she misses the opening approach as Kerr's footwork proves superior and makes her wobble in a failed attempt to pursue the smaller model... And Miranda NAILS her with a counter blow on the nose followed by another quick strike to the right temple... Ugh! Lais wobbles forward with a loud gasp but fails to raise her arms in time and gets clobbered with a vicious uppercut on the jaw! That injects jelly mode into her knees on the spot and with the arms still dropped way low, Kerr hauls in a left cross on the nose that half-spins the exposed Brazilian AND SENDS HER TUMBLING FACE DOWN ON THE CANVAS!!! That was a nasty series from the betting favorites and Lais simply can't shake off some proper lightweight heat! She lifts herself off both elbows but remains on all fours regardless and cradles into embryonal position once the count passes her by! KO3 Miranda Kerr!!!

Official Decision: Miranda Kerr defeats Lais Ribeiro via KO3.

AFTER:
That was short and sweet from one of the tournament favorites who now awaits the winner of Alessandra Ambrosio vs Cara Delevingne next. Since Miranda is very good friends with Alessandra, she hopes for the Brazilian to come through her first round clash but vows to give her a hard test regardless. Meanwhile, Lais Ribeiro continues to leave the experts scratching their heads. The physical tools and potential are all there but the defense remains a major problem and the towering model needs to find a solution or else become a six foot punch bag everyone loves to beat up. That's not a future she signed up for when she joined the unforgiving FCBA universe!
