Vera Brezhneva vs Kimberley Walsh
(BBU Independent vs Lioness Club)
(3-0, 3 KO vs 10-15, 10 KO)
Results: BBU; Story: Vassago

BEFORE: Vera Brezhneva returns to the KO Club in North London where the Lioness hosts throw in the second curveball aimed to stop her from going after their top bantamweight not named Jessica Schwarz next. Of course Vera's main target is none other than Dorota Rabczewska but since the Ukrainian singer is a genuine free agent, she won't be handed the Polish Alpha girl immediately at her request. The Lioness Club is a veteran BBU stable and speaks from the position of power when it comes to Brezhneva's demands. She cleared the first hurdle when she knocked out Nicola Roberts last month but has to repeat that performance against another ex-Girls Aloud member Kimberley Walsh tonight. Only then the Lioness will grant her the marquee Rabczewska contest.

The Polish singer has arrived in North London tonight but openly questions Vera's victory chances. However the simple fact she's sharing the same venue with the Ukrainian foe indicates that the writing is on the wall and Doda can't ignore the fellow blonde's presence on the bantamweight scene anymore. The pre-fight mocking is just another circus act from Doda according to BBU TV's Kate Abdo and most of the neutral fans tend to agree with her. You can only ignore someone like Brezhneva as long as she comes to your own backyard and beats up the next best on the bantamweight roster!

Vera Brezhneva wears a light blue bikini set and black gloves. Long blonde hair in loose waves. Kimberley Walsh wears a red bikini set and white gloves. Dark blonde hair long and straight. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
The grudge fight script is supposedly reserved for the potential Doda showdown but apparently Vera has other ideas as she jumps into a jabbing frenzy and sticks her mitts into Kimberley's face seconds into the contest. She was accussed of being a slow starter before but she's well into her rhythm tonight as if artistic impression was as important as the victory alone. Walsh has seen it all in the BBU but she just can't match the fellow singer's intensity during the opening round and reverts into blocking off as many Brezhneva punches as she can. She loops a series of promising hooks but Vera's raw power drops her on the heels down the stretch and into a hectic retreat come the final minute. Vera spikes her up the middle and hassles around the ring until Kimberley trips over her own feet and gets pinned to the turnbuckle late on. She eats a vicious left hook on the eye and aches out in pain at the bell with Vera looking at Doda who's well placed in the front row to follow the action.

Round 2:
Even though Kimberley is only a stop gap option for the ferocious tourist from Ukraine, she actually lands some crisp punches in the opening minute of the second round as both women square off in the center of the ring. One shouldn't really write off a proud member of the Girls Aloud as a complete punchbag these days and the sheer fighting mentality allows Kimba to stay afloat here when Brezhneva simply tries to take her head off. Both women batter each other in a bruising aerial attack and Walsh begins to feel the heat around her right eye with Vera working from the southpaw stance to pummel the wounded area. Kimberley lands most of the strikes on target as well but can't force the tourist back and moans a little louder when getting hit. This reaction only fuels Vera's desire to blow her away and she snaps the dark blonde hair around the older girl's neck when she hauls in a left/right combo followed by a quick uppercut on the jaw. Kimba sinks into a tailspin and is fortunate to hear the bell before Vera applies more juice!

Round 3:
Dorota Rabczewska keeps her composure in the front row but she doesn't smile anymore and things only get worse for the Lioness entourage when Brezhneva connects with a furious uppercut drive that nails Kimberley on the jaw seconds into the third round. The West Yorkshire lass loses her footing and drops her arms so low that the blonde tourist clubs her from point-blank range adding more swelling to the wounded right eye. Kimba groans out in pain and tries to yield real estate but the younger singer just doesn't allow it and lands a piledriver on the nose followed by a quick cross hook on the mouth. Ugh! Walsh goes all shimmy-shake here and drops onto the ropes where she must wrap her arms around them to prevent going down on the spot... But Vera is right there and she blasts her on the exposed nose so hard SHE SENDS THE GIRLS ALOUD VETERAN CRASHING ONTO HER BACKSIDE in no time... Doda just shakes her head in frustration as if she knows the name of her next opponent already! However the referee gives Kimba extra time to recover and tries to shove Brezhneva back to the neutral corner first... eventually the delayed count only reaches seven when Walsh gets back onto her feet. Vera tries to pounce on the wounded prey immediately after the command and batters Kimberley into a standstill but the clock expires before she can knock her out for good. She doesn't look all too worried by this as Kimba is one solid combo away from imminient disaster and slumps onto her stool with eyes closed just as Lioness coach Mel B. signals for the cutmen to do something about the tennis ball-sized swelling around the right eye.

Round 4:
The swelling around Kimberley's eye only got worse during the break and the English babe struggles for vision when the Ukrainian tourist pounces on her from close range. Brezhneva hammers in several clean jabs that slice through the leaking guard and glue the helpless Walsh to the spot in the proccess. The fighting spirit is effectively gone and Kimba can barely keep her arms in tact when Vera unloads the juice and WRECKS her right eye with a steady leather assault. Ugh! Even the yelps have gone away from Walsh who's on the verge of getting her brains pounded out as she throws nothing back and is rendered into a dummy mode by the relentless bashing from her opponent. A half-dazed Kimberley eventually gets hammered into the ropes and is left at the fellow blonde's mercy but Vera shows her none and lands the haymaker uppercut on the jaw that lifts poor Walsh off her feet AND SENDS HER CRASHING OUT OF THIS FIGHT on the spot. Kimba collapses face-down at Brezhneva's feet in classic dead meat fashion and even the ref knows there's no point in counting out the unfortunate loser here. Brutal KO4 Vera Brezhneva!!!

AFTER: Obviously Vera didn't come to Barnet to just score a win over Kimberley Walsh tonight so she completely ignores the woman she just wrecked and begins a verbal tirade aimed at Doda who finally loses her temper and starts shouting at the fellow singer herself. The Barnet crowd is somewhat stunned since they hurl insults in Russian rather than English and unlike Sean Connery in the Ian Fleming's classic, the majority of the North Londoners could use the subtitles here tonight. Mel B. is personally responsible to keep things civilized between the two East European hellcats and she's lucky not to eat a quick punch from Vera who gives her a lenghty stare before finally walking away from the trash-talking frenzy. And she accidentally kicks the fallen Walsh in the thigh which earns her more jeers from the KO Club audience.

The lack of post-fight physical action is supposedly written in Vera's contract to face Doda on a later date and Mel B. confirms this to Kate Abdo during press conference: "See, our manager is a wise old guy. If Vera attacked any of us tonight, well, except for Kimba of course, but if she threw a punch at me or Doda, she'd be banned from entering KO Club ever again. And our contract mandates the fight taking place over here. I hear that Doda wants to kick her butt over in Warsaw but I don't see it happening unless we sign Monika Pietrasinska and Joanna Krupa for the undercard. And these girls demand a lot of cash in return! They won't fight for a bag of skittles - and neither would I... I don't know if Mr. V can allow himself to pay a king's ransom of a salary but who knows, maybe Doda's pride is worth it after all? The BBU Baltic title is only an excuse. I'm glad I'm just a coach here, I don't have to deal with the politics and the money spending. But the Doda/Vera fight is officially on and well, may the better woman win! I just hope my head doesn't roll if Doda stumbles into a defeat here. We can tolerate Una Healy beating her twice but Vera frickin' Brezhneva? That's just too surreal to be true..."

Final result: Vera Brezhneva def. Kimberley Walsh KO4.
