TEXAS INVASION AT THE ASYLUM
Results: Lookout Writing: Archer
BEFORE:
"Well, I'm back in Philly," says Angie with a smile. "And, representing the Lone Star State to boot. I've got to say, I'm happy to be here. But. I'm not JUST happy to be here. I'm here to win, and that's JUST what I'm going to do."
"She's a girl who can box," says Anna. "She's won a title. She's got experience and skills. She's a challenge, no question of that. But, she's in my house tonight."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "We're back at ringside and that's 'Hanky Panky' by Madonna, and here comes the long, lovely brunette from Dallas, Texas, Angie Harmon!"
McCarthy: "And, I'm going to beat you to it, Scabbo! Harmon is PROOF that age ain't nuthin' but a number, just like J-Mac herself!"
O'Dell: "Harmon into the ring and helped off with the robe..."
McCarthy: "And, LOOK at that body! And, this girl just turned 45 and she puts most girls in their 20s to shame! Did you SEE those bikini pics of Elizabeth Hurley that came out this month? 52 and she's got a body girls in COLLEGE can't match..."
Tess: "And, folks, she could go on all night..."
McCarthy: "Shut UP, Walmart!"
O'Dell: "Drink up, boys, as Ms. Harmon shows off that white bikini and, that's 'The Pain and the Passion' you hear booming through the arena, and that means that 'The Aussie Enforcer', Anna Torv is coming down the aisle..."
McCarthy: "Finally! A REAL fighter from Front Street!"
Cassie: "Anna coming off that war against Miranda Kerr in Australia. And, she's itching to put that in her rear-view mirror."
O'Dell: "Torv tapping glove to fist with Mac on her way by the table, as usual, before climbing into the ring. She's helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that black bikini we've seen before. Ladies about ready to go, and it's time for some picks. Tess favors Anna. Mac?"
McCarthy: "Nothing against Angie, who can still bring it, but, Torv."
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "And, we're underway. Torv getting busy right away. She's coming at Harmon, looking to get physical here. Angie wants to box and move, but Anna stepping to behind that heavy left jab, dropping in solid right hands. Brunette giving ground here, wants some space. Anna going to give it to her, setting up at gunnery range..."
McCarthy: "This might SEEM like a victory for Harmon, but Torv doing gun platform stuff is not a winning combination for an opponent."
O'Dell: "And, it's not working well for Harmon right now. Anna's in mid-fight form a minute plus into this thing. She's got the left hand landing and she's putting punches together off it. Angie firing back here and there, but it's Torv calling the tune right now, controlling the fight almost completely."
Cassie: "This is the kind of thing Anna can do. Uncle Wiz has said again and again that she's as good a fighter as he's had for the entire time she's been at Front Street, and this is an example of why he says that."
O'Dell: "Fifteen seconds to go in the first. Torv another solid flurry. Forces the brunette to cover up again. Harmon fires back, lands a right hand, but another flurry from Anna backs up Angie and there's the bell. Excellent round for Anna Torv, who grabs the first wide and leads 10-9."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Second begins with more movement from Harmon. Angie certainly didn't get any results by standing in front of Anna, so she's going to try to angle. Harmon still plenty athletic. Very smooth with the feet. She's working to get off square, get to spots where she can punch and Torv can't barrel her up."
Tess: "And, while Mac might have overdone things a bit in talking about how good Harmon looks for her age, I'll say this, she moves like she's 25, not 45."
O'Dell: "That, she does. And, the hands are still plenty fast. She can get that jab out and back very, very quickly, get the right hand follow there on time. Torv, for her part, also getting leather on in what's becoming a good two-way round. Blonde just not dominating the way she did in the first."
Cassie: "And, that's down to Harmon and her adjustment. She's found a way to slow the roll Anna was on, at least for the moment."
O'Dell: "Down the stretch in the second. Harmon popping that left, following with the right. Good counter flurry from Torv and Harmon fires back and we've got ourselves a FIREFIGHT as we enter the last few seconds of the round. GOOD right hands exchanged and there's the bell. Close. Angie."
McCarthy: "And we're even at 19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Third begins with more movement and angling from Harmon. Angie moving the head and shoulders along with the feet, making herself a very difficult target for the blonde to hit. That's not stopping Torv from hitting it, however. Anna very accurate with her punches, and she's able to find even the smallest holes in Angie's defenses..."
McCarthy: "This is why I like Torv so much. There's nothing she can't do in there. She boxes. She punches. She's physical. She's smart. You name the tool, she has it."
O'Dell: "Good right hand by Anna. She backs up Harmon and steps to. Torv bringing some of that physical now, not closing, but stepping forward to cut angles, and it's helping her get more leather on. Harmon a SOLID right hand and TORV COUNTERS WITH A BOOMING OVERHAND RIGHT AND DOWN GOES ANGIE!"
Cassie: "I don't like to sing two fights in a row, but, if I were going to..."
O'Dell: "Harmon blown right to her back. Anna wasting no time getting to a neutral corner, but I suspect Cassandra Lynn is right and there's no need to hurry. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. No movement from Harmon. Seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! One punch and it's OVER. And your winner by KO3 is 'The Aussie Enforcer', Anna Torv!"
Tess: "Three quarters of the welterweight division would have stayed down after that one."
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Anna Torv, and, Anna, talk to us about the punch that ended it..."
Anna: "Just got the opening, that's all. I'd been working to set that up, kind of feinted the left and got her to lean away and that gave me what I needed to get that right hand on."
Tess: "Did you know it was over when you hit her?"
Anna (smiling): "Well, you don't really KNOW, but, if she got up from THAT, I'm not sure I had anything that could have kept her on the canvas."
