Shenae Grimes vs Juno Temple

BEFORE: Former CW's 90210 lead heroine Shenae Grimes is still best known as Jessica Lowndes' sparring partner over at the Bradenton gym however she vows to maintain the hot streak that saw her win a total of three fights last season. Yes, official sparring partners can have a nice journeywomen careers as well even though Grimes' performances have escaped the mainstream hype thus far.

On the other hand Juno Temple returns to boxing action after over two and a half years away; she made her FCBA debut at the Asylum Hall in January 2015 and actually took Leighton Meester into a decision but has mysteriously vanished from the Foxfire's match-making schedule ever since. She remains tight-lipped over this lenghty inactivity period and claims that "future is the only thing that matters" ahead of tonight's comeback effort.

Shenae Grimes wears a red bikini top, white knickers and black gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Juno Temple wears a navy blue bikini set and white gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a half-up ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.

Round 1:
Both girls seek early success and trade punches in close range but they lack precision and either bounce off each others' guard or cut thin air in a spirited but otherwise lacklustre exchange. Juno shows more agility and ducks more of these punches while trying to loop something over the top but it's a common belief she's the weaker of the two strikers and needs more effort to tame the brunette's alleged supreme aggression she'd learned from Jessica Lowndes. It's perhaps safe to say Shenae is the poor man's Lowndes but apparently that's enough to keep Juno from making instant progress as she keeps banging away without much success. A late hook nails the blonde on the chin but Grimes lacks the follow up and allows her rival to step back thereafter.

Round 2:
Shenae turns up the heat as she beats Juno to the punch and snaps her head back with a quick one-two combo on the cheeks. Juno tries to swing something from the back foot but finds nothing but thin air and gets clubbed on the nose with a straight-forward piledriver that sends her reeling onto the ropes. However Grimes just doesn't have the speed neccessary to close her down in time and spends the next minute or so in a fruitless pursuit with Temple ducking and weaving away from the brunette's charge. Things finally settle down in the third minute where Juno shows some courage and tries to sweep the Canadian around the elbows but only eats a quick hook on the jaw right at the bell.

Round 3:
This time Grimes misses the initial approach and wobbles straight into a jabbing combo on the chin that allows Juno to step up with the leather juice as she snaps the brunette's head back and makes her groan in pain in the proccess. Juno leans on the front (left) leg and delivers a power punch on the temple that even catches some fans by surprise; Grimes drops on her heels but gets quickly pounded to the ropes as Temple just fires away from point-blank range and subdues the Canadian on the spot. Shenae spends the remainder of the round covered behind a high earmuff but neutralized along the ropes and if only Juno could actually find more core strenght she'd have knocked the brunette foe down for the count according to most of the audience.

Round 4:
This isn't exactly the Jessica Lowndes school of boxing and a glaring example why Shenae doesn't stand a chance of signing a full-time LCA contract anytime soon. She remains under the cosh in the fourth, obviously still hurting after that Temple drive in the previous round... and the Foxfire girl nicknamed "Temple of Juno" takes full advantage of her opponent's lukewarm approach. She outworks her in close range and keeps head hunting her until she reels her back onto the ropes again where she sticks her mitts downstairs to really sting Grimes into spasms. The Canadian can only clinch herself into a brief respite but Juno barks in her ear and demands immediate response if Shenae can actually find one. She can't and Juno blasts her on the ribcage to run away with a dominant performance in the fourth!

Round 5:
Shenae's hot streak is under extreme pressure but she avoids Juno's leather rush to start the fifth and settles into a counterpunching drill which allows her to neutralize the blonde's charge during a cagey opening minute. Temple tries to close her foe down but bounces off the high guard repeatedly and loses her patience down the stretch. Grimes becomes more aggressive in the second part of the round, she swings a couple of fine hooks that find the blonde's temples and drives one straight up the gut which catches the Foxfire girl completely by surprise. Grimes adds another uppercut shortly afterwards and dumps the fellow actress on her heels when she lands a left/right combo on the nose exposing the blonde's guard in the proccess. Juno tries to swing one from the back foot but is beaten to the punch and Shenae cuts her lower lip up with a powerful hook that sends the blonde into retreat on the spot. The clocks expires few seconds later and halts Grimes' pursuit much to her visible dismay.

Round 6:
Grimes seems to have recovered from a couple of difficult rounds and begins to stalk Temple around the wounded lip. She sends in a plethora of piledrivers from point-blank range and Juno simply looks rattled by the lip injury so much she gets her gloves shoved into her face as the Canadian increases the workload. Juno's superior footwork has deserted her as well and she just soaks up leather abuse during the opening minute which breaks down her resilience much faster than anyone around Staples Center would have anticipated. And there's more blood coming from the wounded lip that only fuels Grimes' desire to blow the door off her foe next... Juno gets backed into the ropes but offers nothing and crumbles under the onslaught when Shenae picks her off and splits her mitts repeatedly. There are visible red stains on Temple's white gloves and she cries out in pain when the Canadian clubs her with a left/right combo on the nose which prompts the referee's reaction. HE STEPS IN TO SAVE TEMPLE FROM AN UGLY DEMISE that was knocking on her door courtesy of the brunette's punching. TKO6 Shenae Grimes!!!

AFTER: This wasn't a fight between immediate flyweight contenders but Shenae showed enough of the evil edge to draw blood from her opponent. As relaxed as Juno looked while dishing out the juice, she really crumbled when the brunette cut her up and was in no mood for recovery ever since. However Grimes still got exposed during Temple's best two rounds in the third & fourth which proves why she doesn't exactly threaten to unseat the ex-902010 co-star Lowndes from the Lioness Club spotlight anytime soon. Apparently the sparring partner fee is big enough though for her to swallow her pride and keep acting in the understudy role - which was exactly reversed when the two of them shared the CW screentime back in the day.
