Roxanne Pallett vs Jennette McCurdy

BEFORE: The long-standing rivalry between Kear's Kats and Beever's Babes dates back to the founding days of the BBU but the most promising members of these stables are now making the noise on the other side of the Atlantic where Roxanne Pallett continues on her crossover way and is hell bent on knocking out the former JMD champion Jennette McCurdy tonight.

The former Emmerdale starlet keeps turning heads and boasts a positive record in the FCBA competition however Nickelodeon stalwart McCurdy is widely regarded as the better prospect being 10 years Pallett's junior among other things. She's also fought better opposition - with mixed results - and that's why her inferior ranking compared to the English brunette is somewhat misleading according to the pundits. Well, Jennette has the perfect opportunity to establish the correct pecking order and prove why she's the better woman of the two!

Roxanne Pallett wears a violet bikini set with black trim and black gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a half-up ponytail with bangs. Jennette McCurdy wears a silver bikini set with red trim and red gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.

Round 1:
Jennette is a fairly feisty operator considering her JMD success in the past but she gets blitzed during the opening minute as Roxy gallops into a steady jabbing rush and deploys the all-in tactics which is so familiar in the 110 lbs division. The older actress nails her rival with a quick combo and settles into a head hunting assault that forces immediate earmuff cover from the blonde who needs to really find her feet if she's to survive the initial onslaught. She fails to do that and gets pounded back to the ropes as Pallett keeps picking her off in numbers. The blonde's guard improves during the second minute but she remains trapped on the ropes and the single hand response from behind the cover only bounces off the brunette's mitts. Roxy drives a left hook on the guts to bend the American into early spasms but refuses to switch her targets and keeps bombing away upstairs for remainder of the round leaving McCurdy completely subdued in the proccess.

Round 2:
Both girls engage in a furious close range battle as Jennette wants to finally get off the mark after that poor opener, she digs her mitts into Roxanne's jelly and triggers that enjoyable shrieking sound from the brunette's mouth which fuels her aggression and allows her to sink more crisp shots to the body. However Pallett refuses to back off and loops a solid response over the top which tags the blonde's temples a couple of times. Jennette's execution proves to be superior on the long haul though and she reels the Brit on her heels before tackling more ribcage for a good measure. The repeated body assault leaves Roxanne a little banged up come the final minute and McCurdy is unfortunate not to pound her butt-in-ropes to underline her recovery.

Round 3:
Another close range tangle gives the American the edge early on but Roxanne improves her footwork once she reads through her attacking pattern and responds in a similar fashion. Both girls lean onto each other and are determined to chop some tummy into a mush but they actually clash heads in their furious pursuit for domination and have to take a quick breather to gather their thoughts. Jennette fires away a little quicker at first but bounces off the brunette's forearms and gets picked off to the solar plexus instead as Roxy lands a nice one-two combo on target and moves up to clip the blonde's chin thereafter. McCurdy didn't see that strike coming and wobbles back on her heels which allows the dark-haired Cumbrian to stalk her upstairs with several menacing swings that don't quite land on target but force the younger actress into a hectic retreat in the closing seconds of the round.

Round 4:
The girls keep coming back at each other and fancy another close range tussle; Jennette stalks the brunette's midriff and almost catches her with a not-so-unintentional headbutt but gets stunned with a vicious cross on the nose and aches out in pain while Roxy adds more juice upstairs. Jennette's ponytail spins around her neck as the Brit lands her aerial attacks but the Beevers' girl brawls herself back into contention when she finally drops the body assault and nails Pallett with a seemingly wayward hook on the lips. Roxanne also wobbles to the side amid a loud yelp and both girls resume the phone booth-like exchange, Jennette rewinds some old JMD tape and uppercuts the brunette's mounds and despite Pallett having experience in this genre herself, she jumps back to safety in a rare sign of thinking better off it. However McCurdy slams another left/right combo on the mouth and reels the older woman to the ropes where she harpoons her to the body with a quick switch and pounds away at the tummy until the bell halts her progress.

Round 5:
Jennette's eyes glare with nothing but disdain as she tackles the brunette to the body again but Roxy manages to stick a heavy right hand on the blonde's temple and then slices through the high guard with a textbook one-two combo that finds the chin and sinks the American on soft knees. Jennette refuses to yield real estate and throws a hook aimed upstairs however Pallett dekes away from it and counters with a left hook that nails the blonde on the jaw one more time and spins her towards the ropes. McCurdy just doesn't want to retreat her but she can't find her feet in time and gets blasted upstairs again as Pallett suddenly rains punches in close range taking full advantage of the wayward defense. Jennette eats a number of clean punches and simply disappears onto the ropes as she fails to land her response anywhere other than the brunette's forearms before a massive hook slams her on the left eye and results in visible swelling. Perhaps that's down to the previous amount of punches she soaked up but regardless Roxy just tears into her face during the last twenty odds seconds and rocks the blonde's head back & forth to dominate the action; McCurdy slumps on soft knees with eyes closed at the bell and her extended yelps only fuel Roxy's desire to finally break her resilience next. Or has she actually achieved that goal already?

Round 6:
McCurdy for once tries to bide her time in mid-distance but Roxy matches her footwork and squares right up to her in the center of the ring following a brief ducking battle. She beats the blonde for a quick overhand and targets the swollen left eye with repeated slaps from point-blank range. Jennette drops on her heels and the poor mobility suddenly paves the way for a heavy Pallett assault as she dwarfs McCurdy's high guard and knocks more juice into the American's face.... and the moans are getting louder and louder as Roxy turns up the heat and is well on her way to add more facial damage... Jennette begins to squeal as she gets pounded back to the ropes, her arms collapse by the side when the Brit half-spins her with another vicious hook however there's room for another brutal hook that blasts the aching blonde on the jaw AND SENDS HER SLIDING DOWN ON HER KNEES moments later. The one-sided nature of this round takes it's toll on McCurdy who slides onto all fours during the count and she simply can't recover from the beating she just got handed by the petite brunette. It's a no-go here at the ten and subsequently KO6 Roxanne Pallett!!!

AFTER: That's a very impressive win for the Cumbrian veteran who soaked up all the juice the proud American threw at her before storming back and knocking her down for the count. A nasty slugging affair with neither girl ready to quit until Jennette simply couldn't take it anymore following that slump in the latter stages of the fifth round. Roxanne's crossover career keeps blossoming and she's well placed to make a Top 30 entry in the next flyweight rankings, a truly incredible achievement given the lacklustre start to her BBU tenure. The icing on the cake? The Kats score one over their bitter Beevers rivals and there's no wonder head trainer Gail Kim is unable to contain herself during the post-event VIP party.
