VICTORIA'S SECRET WAR IN HEAVEN PRELIMINARY ROUND 2

2. Doutzen Kroes vs Gisele Bündchen

Doutzen:

Gisele:
(37, 5’11, 4:13 FCBA, Free Agent)

BEFORE:
Legendary goddesses of the ring take turns making a concerted statement that despite their age, both VS superstars belong here 100%. Doutzen is first to strut through the pyroworks, posing with both hands high above her head, her body draped in nothing but white bikini and a coat sparkling with diamonds and rubies.

Gisele of course not to be outdone - anyone caught calling her ‘the grandmother’ of Victoria’s Secret would be on receiving end of a tight slap from the sultry Brazilian, who looks NOTHING on the verge of turning 40 years old. She bursts onto the catwalk in jade green bikini made even more visible by wide plume of sparkling peacock feathers spread out behind her - god these girls know how to make an entrance!

Both Doutzen and Gisele have been doing this for a long time, both acting civil inside and outside the ring. Gisele is first to comment on her opponent’s chances here tonight. “Make no mistake, we both still want to win. And most important of all - we want to show these ‘rookies’ that we’re NOT simply not ready to retire.”

Doutzen nodding along with her compatriot, before adding her two cents: “We vets don’t get the same amount of respect we got in the past.” Turning to Gisele, she continues, almost in silent, mutual agreement. “One of us will walk away the winner tonight, and I have no doubt that one of us will be holding up the crown by the end of this tourney…”

They square off in the ring, touch gloves respectfully with silent smirk on their faces, before retreating back to corners and assuming familiar battle stance. Referee looks ready to get the fight started as well and waves for the bell. Here we go!

ROUND 1:
We’re frankly amazed that these two legendary beauties have not faced off before this night, with the girls frankly eager to show off what they’ve both learnt from their respective time in the ring. They begin by throwing all that respectful banter out the window when the blows start landing. Doutzen first to shock the Brazilian queen with a snap jab to her face, then an even more shocking right hand straight into the cheek. Gisele looks surprised for a second before managing to cover up, plays defensive for the rest of the round and jabbing back at Doutzen’s head and guard. The Dutch warrioress looking feisty and as she refuses to give up the chase, burying more quick blows into Gisele’s body and leaving her scrunched up at the bell.

ROUND 2:
Here we go in the second… Doutzen with more of her bullying tactics as she applies pressure with multiple jabs. Gisele however looking more calm, measured, steady, blocking nicely and then snapping return shots into the face. Kroes eating a lot of leather here as her nose starts glowing pink, thinks she’s the one scoring big but it’s clear from the audience’s point of view that Gisele’s the one who’s hurting her bad. Pain seems to finally catch up with Doutzen in the middle of the second minute when three jabs land square on her nose and lips - she lets out strangled yelp and stops her attack, covering up her face. Gisele’s time to advance and she wastes no time - right hand to the side of Kroes’ cheek jolts her hard, and follow up left hook SWIVELS her on the spot! AND DOWN SHE GOES! Doutzen laid down on her side looking like she's’ not aware of surroundings, eyes fluttering mouth pouting as she scrambles for the ropes… Is it already over??

Gisele grins and holds steady hand up to acknowledge the cheers. Who ever said she was getting too old for this clearly has not faced her in the ring before… Referee counting out the blonde 3… 4… 5… but Doutzen managing to haul herself back up with the help of the ropes. But Gisele looks ready for more. Referee checks on her opponent, who nods to continue but her reddened face clearly telling a different story. Last minute on the clock and here comes Bundchen, looking to execute… Doutzen groaning as she doesn't make it two steps from the ropes when an invasive punch impacts her gut, Gisele mercilessly using her shoulders to muscle the bigger girl backwards and then alternates punches to her head and body. Doutzen making herself as small as possible but can't stop the abuse as Gisele continues to whack away at her tummy until the bell saves her from total destruction.

ROUND 3:
Kroes looking shell shocked if we’re honest, having clearly fallen off her throne. Gisele takes her time here, punching away at her guard and testing the defenses - she’s been at this too long to know that charging in at this point might have opposite effect for her. As a result, Doutzen pushed back one step at a time as Gisele merely herds her about the ring with calculated and precise punches, like bees coming in every opening and crevice and stinging the blonde on her skin. To her credit, the Lookout starlet is swinging back with surprise hooks, but Gisele takes them on her arms by combination of pure luck and grit. Doutzen left in same position as last time: draped on the ropes and breathing hard, wondering how to get out of this predicament.

ROUND 4:
Gisele with condescending grin on her face as she circles in for the kill - Doutzen by contrast hiding behind her mitts, ready for the onslaught. Gisele poking high with jab jab jab, then banging low with dull underhook connecting with body. Doutzen grimaces as her side throbs with dull ache, fires punches of her own to keep Bundchen sufficiently distracted. But the Brazilian not to be denied, keeps on coming, keeps on firing combinations - third such body hook connecting with meaty smack, and then suddenly - WHAM - as Doutzen takes advantage of her complacency and routine with a RAM of a right hand straight into Gisele’s face! Good lord - Bundchen’s face eating leather as the right cross disappears into her mouth, followed by another left hand straight up into the lips. Doutzen just stepping in and torquing her shoulders into overdrive, with punch after punch into the shocked girl’s face! Crowd goes wild at the turn of the tide just like that - Gisele now the one in danger of getting her head knocked off her shoulders but she’s saved by the referee who steps in between both girls when the round ends abruptly! Kroes using her opponent’s strategy here to her own advantage, but STILL losing the round by the thinnest of margins due to that late offence in those final twenty seconds.

ROUND 5:
Gisele looks as shellacked as her foe at the opening bell. Still, both girls gladly striding forward towards each other, heads bobbing and weaving, anticipating opponent’s next move, before they start and FIRE AWAY. Girls just getting in each other’s faces and sticking gloves in between and over each other’s guards. Gisele eats another hard shot to the mouth and pivots her face away, but not without grazing her own fist off of Doutzen’s chin. Girls flail as they struggle in close quarters, bodies meeting with meaty smack as they continue to scrape leather off reddened skin. Gisele comes alive all of a sudden, choosing her shots with right hands pistoning in and out, contorting the Dutch girl’s cheek, but finding herself being out- muscled by heavier blonde. Doutzen taking her time, keeping her head low as she slowly slides left hand around curve of Brazilian’s back, pulling her in close, and then jacking other fist into her belly, chopping and choking Gisele as she’s folded over repeatedly. Bell rings and Gisele is left powerless, sagging into her enemy’s arms. Doutzen has disgust on her face, hissing taunts into her opponent’s ear before shoving her away roughly. Gisele’s turn to find the ropes for support, bruised body and chest rising and falling, catching desperate breath.

ROUND 6:
Bodies pulsing in and out as both girls enter the sixth. Doutzen chastising her own corner for trying to hold her back to ice down another stubborn bruise - she’s eager to score revenge knockdown on her rival. Gisele back to basics, tired of her opponent’s bullying tactics and now staying out of range. Girls use this round to recover, and even Doutzen realizes she’s fast running out of gas and stops her reckless advancing in the middle and hangs back, jabbing at Gisele’s body from afar. But not before Gisele plants more leather in her face, opening up one nostril at end of the second minute. Crowds react once they see the trickle of red flowing down Doutzen’s nose, blonde struggling herself to keep focused whilst hot liquid flowing over her pouty lips. At the end of the round, neither girl comes out big, but Gisele shows enough stubbornness and remains in the running.

ROUND 7:
Uh oh - perhaps we all spoke too soon about Gisele’s age - Amazonian queen starting to tire visibly as she allows Doutzen to dominate in the seventh. Gisele just too tired to score big, focusing all her energies on staying alive for a good first two minutes of the round. If it’s any consolation, Doutzen also not much better - she’s no spring chicken either, that’s for sure, but she manages to dictate terms and the pace by constantly trying to get in Gisele’s face, pounding blow after blow into the middle of her forearms, then gurgling her with hard shots to the middle of the stomach. It’s a miracle by itself how Gisele is still standing by the end of this round, but I suppose that’s as much a critique for her opponent as it is for her. In any case, Doutzen takes the round by complete shutout. Can either girl finish the fight at this rate??

ROUND 8:
More of the same dominance from the Dutch in the first minute - she seems to burn the midnight candle and still expecting some lucky big shot that will floor her opponent, but doesn’t realise she’s leaving herself more and more vulnerable with those big, exhausting hooks. Mid-round sees Gisele mount a comeback - not good at all for Doutzen as she gets her face pounded on in between her attacks, blood now flowing freely once again as Gisele slams her gloves mercilessly into the nose and lips. Doutzen thrown back, hiding that bloodied mess behind her two gloves. And here comes the Queen, looking to finish her off - big cross absorbed by Doutzen’s gloves but DOESN’T have the effect Gisele wants: Doutzen waiting for her, stands her ground and PIVOTS a right hand straight into side of her face! UGHH! Gisele shocked as her face turned to side, has moment to recover before ANOTHER right hook swivels her head around! She’s forced to stagger to the ropes, now left defenseless as her hands preoccupied with keeping her body upright, leaving her tummy as target practice for a lunging Doutzen, who steps in and just plunders the body left right left right underhooks. Gisele’s eyes wide with shock but quickly shut by final uppercut to base of jaw! That’s it folks! The Brazilian CRUMPLES as her knees finally give way! Referee is quick to save her from more abuse as he steps in and waves it off! It’s over!!

Official Decision: Doutzen Kroes defeats Gisele Bundchen via KO8!

AFTER:
Doutzen left panting as she uses ropes for support as well, supporting her heaving body as she tries to recover from this grueling match. Gisele still lying on ground, her back firm to ropes, eyes closed as she tries to make sense of where she is. Still, the formalities back in either girls’ minds as Doutzen extends a hand downwards and Gisele accepts. They share an embrace and some words of encouragement, with Gisele sure to be encouraging and wishing her former opponent the best luck in the world at making it to the Finals.

The Lookout starlet looking strong in this fight and who knows, with this strong performance, perhaps she really can go the distance and trade with the younglings. Pundits not so sure, however, as her next opponent none other than the legendary Karlie Kloss. Doutzen couldn’t have been dealt a tougher opponent at this stage in the competition!
