TESS VALMORE
MACK/SULA I had never heard of Sula before she was scheduled for this fight. I think the chances are good that I won’t be hearing her name again in the FCBA. She won the first two rounds as Mack more or less took a look at Sula. Having seen what she needed, Mack took over and won the next two rounds and finished the night by sending Sula to dreamland with a right hook.
GOMES/PERRY In my predictions, I said that this was a stay busy fight for Perry. I expected her to get in some rounds before ending the fight. I predicted she would win in round five, but actually expected her to carry Gomes longer than that. She didn’t. Instead of carrying her for seven rounds, Gomes lasted about seven minutes. A right hand to the chin ended Gomes chance for her first win.
JESSE J/MCKINNEY I didn’t pay much attention to McKinney until recently because she mainly fought at JMDD and you know what I think of JMDD. She did catch my eye with her win over Cuoco in late May. This was her first fight under the Front Street banner. Jesse J had fought at the Asylum in June losing to Utgaard in four. That performance earned her a return trip to face McKinney. The bout was even at two and even at four. In the fifth, the expected happened. A pair of rights sent Jesse J down for the count. What Utgaard did in four, took McKinney five. Looks like McKinney is sitting in the second seat on the welter bench.
PARE/TORV Does Pare really believe opponent have been ducking her? Well if they have, I doubt they will continue to do so. She has “beat me” written all over her. She did give Torv a little trouble as she had the lead at the end of four. By the end of the sixth, Torv had evened up the fight and has running on all cylinders. Torv ended the bout in the seventh with a right and a follow up left hook.
J. SIMPSON/DENNINGS I thought if there was one fight on this card that Front Street could possibly lose, it was this one. I did predict Dennings would win but thought the win would come late in the bout. It came relatively early. Simpson had the lead at the end of three. Suddenly a minute into the fourth. Dennings landed a vicious right to the chin and the bout was over.
MITRA/SWAN Mitra was one of the fighters I named in my column on scheduling opponents that would get a manager’s fighter a sure win. This was her fourth visit to the Asylum in 2 1/2 years. She had lost seven straight with her last win being five years ago. Want to guess who won this bout? Right. It wasn’t Mitra. The bout was even at four. Swan took the fifth. In the sixth, Swan landed a pair of rights that sent Mitra down to her eighth straight defeat. I wonder what it takes for Pointy to decide it’s time for a stable member to go. I will have to ask him. Second thought maybe not. He could pick me up and throw me in a good forty yard spiral.
