VICTORIA'S SECRET "WAR IN HEAVEN" TOURNAMENT: PRELIMINARIES ROUND 3

5. Doutzen Kroes versus Karlie Kloss

(Words: Caspian, Results: Lookout!)

Doutzen:
(32, 5’10, 1:1 FCBA, Lookout Atlantic Boxing)

Karlie:
(25, 5’11, 9:2 FCBA, The Fighting Academy)

BEFORE:
A battle of contrasts tonight with this match-up, Doutzen Kroes known for her big-size bullying antics and Karlie Kloss no small-pie walkover either - can brawl when she needs to but also comfortable with technical fighting from afar. Both girls scoring impressive wins in the previous round over Gisele Bundchen and Martha Hunt respectively, but Doutzen scoffing at her opponent’s chances this time round, saying:

“She beat a nobody last time. She’s been beating *nothing but* nobodies. That’s why she couldn’t stand toe-to-toe with Rhigetti and it’s gonna be the same tonight. I’m no nobody, sweetheart.” Doutzen with hands on her hips as she states matter-of-factly into the reporter’s mic. She’s decked in dark blue lingerie lace top and bottoms, red gloves and blonde hair tied up in a tight swirl. Kroes may have crossed the 30-year old threshold, but the Dutch beauty looks like she was born yesterday in an Amazonian baby vat machine.

Karlie Kloss having heard the cutting words of her opponent from backstage can’t wait to get in Doutzen’s face to contest. The American model looking stunning tonight as she flourishes her arms at the entrance of the curtains, looking at home in red-maroon lingerie, bright red gloves, her strawberry blonde hair having grown a little by now and tied in a ponytail out the back. Kloss strutting down the catwalk to the tune of Avril Lavigne’s Girlfriend.

Hey! Hey! You! You! I don't like your girlfriend No way! No way! I think you need a new one 
“Hmph, talk about being washed out,” Karlie’s first words into the hot mic drawing a loud Oooooouuhh from the audience. “Kroes is one to talk - she’s past her prime and she’s still fighting? I saw her match with Gisele... *stifles a giggle* It was like two grandmas hawing, huffing and shuffling about the ring.”

Karlie’s words clearly making Doutzen seeth, when she RUSHES at Kloss as soon as she enters the ring. BLAM! Both girls crashing down to canvas as Doutzen spears her in her midsection then starts raining down wild fists as Karlie squeals and flails. Officials quick to get in there and restore order though, pulling them apart, and restraining them back to corners. Karlie disoriented, blonde hair now disheveled around her face, but rubbing her jaw tenderly with one hand, a smirk forming at having gotten to Kroes so easily. Karlie has nerve to smirk at her ambusher at the bell, with a defiant shout: “That all you got, grandma??” before both girls fly at each other for real this time. Here we go!

ROUND 1:
Doutzen every bit the brawler, both in built and power, and she lets Karlie know early on what she can do - she’s having trouble with the giant, muscled freight train trying to steamroll her from the get go, Doutzen barreling down and hounding with power punches. Doutzen looking like she’s in full control in the opening minute, slamming hard straight hands at Karlie’s head - trial by fire is what they call this particular strategy of putting your opponent’s defences to the test: just go full-on assault and see what sticks and what doesn’t. Karlie not ready one bit, seems like there’s a lot being stuck on her face and body, already having trouble establishing distance even with return jabs that land on Doutzen’s face, but she can’t quite keep the Dutch girl off her back, eats more blows to her face, then body chopped in half with shots that land hard on her sternum. Doutzen having her way even more in the second minute when she manages to trap Kloss in corner, and goes bull-rush on her ass: Kloss’ frame getting jerked left and right as punches sink into her body, but finally she has the sense to clinch up to negate. Not the best idea but it does the job of reducing incoming damage - Doutzen has the muscle and bigger built to pin her back to the turnbuckle, has her fists continue digging up into the body as they struggle for dominance. Karlie is left gasping for air when the bell rings and the referee has to pull a smothering Kroes off of her. Doutzen grinning as she turns and heads back to corner - she knows that she’s got this round MORE than wide.

ROUND 2:
What happened to all that Kloss-stopping power that enabled her to climb the Welterweight ladder so briskly? Well, it seems to have little effect on a beast like Kroes, who tries the same tactics of rushing her once the bell rings. Kloss however now more light on her feet, using it to anticipate Kroes’ advances, and truth be told it gets predictable after a while when all your opponent does is just come at you in a straight line… Kloss able to absorb those long jabs and avoid those bigger hooks altogether, now showing off her technical superiority with jab after jab that pester Kroes as they sink into her face and body, Kloss slowly chipping away at the giant’s armour. Doutzen getting worn down quickly as well, heaving with exhaustion in the last minute of chasing her opponent all about the ring for the first two minutes. Now is when Karlie leaps in to show off her strengths, evolving those light tapping fists on her face to more deliberate step-in powerful SHOTS landing on Doutzen’s nose and chest, knocking her head back and just stunning her in her tracks when her chest gets violated. Karlie’s turn to take the round wide this time, certainly shaping up to be an interesting back-and-forth with both ladies leaning on different crutches!

ROUND 3:
Doutzen’s turn to look shagged and panting for breath. Karlie choosing to hang back and not rush her foe - smart move predicted by the pundits - she knows that Doutzen’s power is still not something to be underestimated. Girls instead circle one another from afar, throwing occasional jabs at each other but refusing to charge in all the way. Kroes however is on losing end in this kind of match-up - she’s getting stung in the face with Karlie’s more precise long punches hitting more often. The nature of Kroes’ offence looking just slower and more sluggish. Kroes’ corner shouting at their girl to stick to what she knows - that is to charge in and give Kloss hell, and only in the third minute does Kroes listen to advice, wades in fast, avoiding around another long jab by Kloss, then BURIES a right hand up into the poor girl’s body with a wicked uppercut that lands square. Kloss’ eyes go wide as her middle lit on fire with more Doutzen continuing to pound left right left right as she just has her way with her in close quarters. Kloss can only clinch to avoid a potential knockdown, and the rest of the round sees both girls shoving fists at shoulders or digging gloves into each other’s sides as the time ticks down. Karlie probably saved by Doutzen’s tiredness at this point, unable to use her heavier frame to her advantage.

ROUND 4:
Karlie taking the round by comfortable margin the last time, but that last flurry to her body seems to have taken its toll - she’s still rubbing her abs at the bell. Doutzen now knows what works and what doesn’t, decides to bet the farm by charging at Kloss at the urging of her corner. Blonde needs to know her limits, however, as Karlie initially sees it coming and avoids the rush by jumping to the side - power cross from Kroes sails awkwardly by, then return by Karlie NAILS Doutzen right in the kisser! Kroes now the one staggered and forced back into the ropes, but Karlie makes the mistake of staying in her peripheral range wanting to punish some more. Kroes immediately swings right hook by reflex, crashes into side Kloss’ cheek in vicious backhand that perhaps wasn’t entirely intentional but still very much still effective. Kloss goes UHHGG as she spins to the other side, her plan in tatters. Doutzen already recovered, doesn’t think twice and goes flying at her in renewed effort: left right buried into Kloss’ tummy hup hup, then right uppercut bangs on her forearms as Kloss tries to avoid repeat rout from last round. Karlie covering up as Doutzen goes to work on her body, then guard, body then guard, putting remainder of her strength into scoring a knockdown. However, Kloss is holding on steady, trying to weather the onslaught, but her body getting ravaged by dull whaps of leather to abs as Kroes fires away at the only target available to her. At the bell, Karlie on the verge of collapsing from weakened knees and tortured torso, only the ropes allow her to remain upright with her body pink and bruised. Kroes tired as well, panting hard, looks like she wants to score another belly punch, but referee quickly intervenes and leads her away, but not before the Dutch lady shoves a rude hand gesture into Kloss’ face in defiance. Kroes given her all this round, certainly establishing her power and dominance, but it still wasn’t enough to put Kloss away.

ROUND 5:
Round 5 and both girls are already hanging on by the skin of their teeth. Karlie looking like she can’t stomach another body blow at this point - only so much her abs can take before they break down completely. Doutzen on the other hand not looking like she can muster another grand charge either. Girls again start from afar this time, throwing half-hearted punches that trouble little. Again, Kloss beginning to shine in this exchange, knocking Doutzen’s head back with snap jabs somewhere in the middle of the second minute. When Doutzen tries to pull up reserves and rush at her for a last charge, but it sputters as quickly as it began: Kloss avoiding a big right by weaving to one side, then STOPS Kroes in her tracks with a right POW straight to the nose. Doutzen’s eyes water as pain wracks her face, leather engulfing her vision. She’s rooted and Kloss already on her, burying punches into her body and chest, then snapping head back with a final uppercut to the jaw! Any lesser woman would have been thrown off her feet by that combination, Karlie’s power putting them down for the count in prior contests. But hell, Kroes is no ordinary lady - forced backwards into ropes but doesn’t look in danger of going down. Kloss no more energy to pursue either, and the girls end the round at opponent ends in the ring.

ROUND 6:
What the f*ck does Kloss have to do to put this blonde away? Her trainers shouting all sorts of advice from corner, but the American stunner looking measured and evaluating her strategy by herself, keeping her eyes on Kroes in case she decides to try rush tactics again. All signs point to the negative however, with Kroes just as sluggish as she rises from stool, chest heaving and taking in ragged breaths, trying to get oxygen into her lungs. Kloss decides to get a little more adventurous as a result, circles wounded animal taking test shots from afar. Doutzen turning to face her, pivoting on the spot, barely swatting away jabs to her face or raising her arms in time to block or deflect, all the while offering barely any offence in return. Last minute sees Karlie wade in full as a result: another jab-jab combo followed by step-in and right hook that CRASHES into side of Kroes’ head, but it’s absorbed by her raised guard! Blow rings in the ear but otherwise Doutzen takes it like a woman. Now look of horror on Kloss’ face as she realises she’s within striking distance of counter attack. Kroes already readied response: right uppercut comes flying hard and fast up into base of chin, sending Kloss’ head skyward as it lands clean and with momentum of a golf swing. Kloss lets out strangled scream as her head almost removed from shoulders. Not the end of Kloss’ torture though - she’s quickly forced back into close quarters by Doutzen’s arm snaking around the small of her back and tugging on her bikini briefs for better control. Kloss can only groan as her lips forced onto sweaty blonde shoulder as Kroes JACKS her right hand up into her already tortured midsection in dull PUH PUH PUH PUH action. This goes on for a good twenty seconds - too long for Kloss, but Kroes not aware of the time either, and the bell rings before Doutzen can score the knockout. Disappointed, she finally allows her foe to sink down to knees in brutal, uncountable knockdown. Doutzen looks like she doesn’t mind one bit however as Karlie’s pain-wracked face slides down the extent of her tummy, pooling at her feet and hugging her tortured body, never having been pushed this far… Good gosh - can Kloss even continue?

ROUND 7:
A horrible round for Kloss but she still manages to stand upright at the start of the seventh, albeit with much difficulty. Her body now pockmarked red in various places, showing Doutzen’s thorough handiwork, and we can only guess that any sudden movements from the American would bring different worlds of pain. One can only wonder at this point if the VS sponsors knew what they were doing fully when they sponsored this boxing contest - the amount of abuse their putting their Angels through here might very well be not worth the publicity… Still, both girls choosing to soldier on here, Karlie having been asked multiple times in between if she wished to continue, and her reply always a curt and final, “Let me at this b*tch.”

Doutzen smiling as the bell rings, goading taunt with a gesture at Kloss’ body, mock concern as she asks how’s she doing. Kloss defiant, cautious, cannot let herself get caught in similar situation, if not it’ll certainly be her end. Doutzen knows this too, tries to spring another charge on her in the first minute, but she’s so spent herself that Karlie sees it coming a mile away, easily avoids with better footwork, then plants jabs into Kroes’ cheek and nose over and over in between her reckless charges. Doutzen’s face getting lit up here, her nose especially glowing red by the end of the second minute after the repeated pounding and curses rising in her throat at being unable to put Kloss away.

Kloss gets into danger late in the round however when a wild hook comes crashing into her guard, but the impact buffeted by her forearms and only serves to shove her backwards into the ropes. With a roar, Doutzen’s body comes crashing into her, bodies meet SMACK as both girls enough with the dancing and wanting to go home to BANG away. Doutzen trying to exert her weight here by pinning Kloss to ropes whilst sneaking arms down to stuff glove to tummy. But Kloss wrapping her arms under the armpits and over, pushing against her biceps, keeping punches away, at the same time managing to rotate positions, now using a forearm to crush Kroes’ windpipe, temporary immobilising her with air supply cut off in what’s SURELY an illegal move here? Referee comes running in, but not before Kloss takes advantage of temporary space she’s created: right fist comes CRASHING in into base of Doutzen’s jaw, knocking her senseless! Crowd roars as Kloss just goes to town, packing in punch after punch into Doutzen’s vunerable face here! Dutch girl’s expression goes from rage to delirium as she thrashes in the hold but can’t seem to get her arms free to defend, let alone attack. Soon, her entire body slackens from the combination of all factors. With a groan, she collapses forward into Kloss’ waiting arms, the American heaving for a moment before DROPPING her FACE FLAT like an Amazonian tree hitting the canvas!

Unfortunately the Kloss not realising that 1) the bell had already rung ten seconds earlier, and 2) referee would have waived off that knockdown anyways due to illegal elbow move to the throat. So initial celebration from the American turns to bitter disappointment as she realises that she has to survive yet another round with this monster. Doutzen is given ample time to recover in her corner, and medics again putting question towards her whether she wishes to throw in the towel, to which she growls, grits teeth, shaking her head vigorously for answer.

ROUND 8:
We’re heading into the longest fight of the evening and the rabid fans want even more! Doutzen and Karlie doing their best to give them what they want but at this point they seem less interested in proving a point and more interested in just staying alive. Poking jabs from either girl as they swipe leather at faces, with relentless back and forth as now, their guards gone to sh*t and they rely on backup power. Doutzen excels in this suite just fine, torquing her fists haphazardly into Kloss’s cheek, spinning her with a GRUHH multiple times. And f*ck if the title contender seems to be in trouble as she goes stumbling into the ropes. Doutzen slow to get on her case, however, lumbering forward with a knockout uppercut aimed at her chin but just a tad bit too slow to connect - Karlie swerving to one side (any side for that matter), manages to swing back fast - SCORES with a crunching right to middle of Doutzen’s face! Now the Dutch beauty is the one on shaky legs as she wobbles on the spot, the pain from previous round already too much to bear. Let’s not forget her nostril being opened up and now blood gushing out from the repeated abuse. NO MERCY from Kloss as right hook SLAMS into side of her head and DOWN SHE KROES!! (sorry)

Doutzen forced down onto her side, then rolls onto her back with her chest rising and falling rapidly. She’s not even moving to try and recover, eyes squeezed shut. Referee begins the count but it’s no use.. It’s over!!

AFTER:
Karlie roaring to the crowd as she conquers the big veteran blonde here tonight and establishes herself as both contender for the VS crown AND future Welterweight champion. Good for her with a hard-fought victory.

On the other hand, Doutzen coming into this tournament with a promising start but hell if the luck of the draw put her in Kloss’ crosshairs. The rest, they say, is history. Kroes however refusing to consider any talk of leaving the ring for good. For now she’s revived by her team and stumbles out the same way she arrived without speaking to reporters. At least the crowd has the decency to chant her every step of the way for putting on such a grueling match.

Karlie Kloss now advances to face the winner of the next match!
