Demi Lovato vs. Lindsay Lohan
(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)
BEFORE:
No question that Lovato, after a tough career start, is a girl on the rise. Lohan, meanwhile, has been through more rebirths and reinventions than Madonna's career. The pair now intersect as contenders, and both have plenty of confidence coming in.
"Lindsay is Lindsay," says Demi with a smile. "People say she had the talent to be a Hall of Famer and all that, but, with everything she's been through, she's still good and still dangerous. But, everything she has, I have. And I've got things she doesn't, like focus and desire. And, those will be the difference."
"This girl," says Lindsay with a shake of the head. "Has no IDEA who she is dealing with. But, she's about to find out."
ROUND ONE:
Lovato quickly makes the game plan clear. She's not going to stay out on the end of Lohan's punches. Linsday has the reach and has shown she likes to fight at range, so the brunette's going to crowd her and bang. It's a good plan. She quickly makes the redhead uncomfortable, going body in a big way, then coming upstairs with hooks and uppercuts that back Lohan up and force her to cover up. Demi's quickly in a nice rhythm and just as quickly she's HURT! A short right hook from the redhead wobbles the brunette's knees! Lovato immediately covers up and Lindsay lets the hands go and DOWN GOES DEMI! Another hook, this one a left and a straight right follow send Lovato to her back! Lohan to a neutral corner to watch and wait. Demi sits up at five and gets to her feet at seven. Referee gives her the mandatory, waives on Lohan, who spends the rest of the round cleaning up. At the bell, it's Lindsay 10-8.
ROUND TWO:
Lohan to work in a big way. She's got Lovato in trouble, and she aims to keep her there. Redhead sitting down on all her punches, banging away at both head and body, backing up Demi, forcing her to remain almost completely on the defensive. Lovato in a high guard, trying to fire back in spots, trying to stay off the ropes. She has little luck in the former category, and, while she's able to do the latter for awhile, eventually, Lohan pins her there and gives her a thorough working over. Last minute a nightmare for the brunette, as Lindsay gets off with both hands, banging away, hurting her to the body and wobbling her again and again with hard shots to the head. Referee looking closely, but, somehow restrains himself as Lohan romps from the opening second all the way to the bell. It's shutout, Lindsay and the redhead now leads 20-17.
ROUND THREE:
Lindsay back to work, coming right at Lovato, but, Demi not having it any longer. She still doesn't have the legs all the way back, but a combination of her sturdy legs and iron will enable her to hold her ground. Lohan still getting the better of the fierce exchanges early, but, eventually, Demi works herself back into the fight, mostly by landing as many shots to the body as she can. Lindsay keeps after the brunette, trying to find the 'off' switch, but she can't get it done. Instead, Lovato keeps ticking despite the licking. By the final minute, it's an absolute war, with Lohan determined to remain in charge and Demi determined not to allow that. Heavy exchange after heavy exchange see both women backed up and forced to cover up, but neither able to impose will on the other. At the bell, there's nothing in it. It's a drawn round, and Lindsay still leads by three, 30-27.
ROUND FOUR:
More bitter, nasty stuff. Both fighters going all in, banging away, committing on everything. Lohan doing a ton of head-hunting, but working enough to the body to add to the punishment she's already inflicted and keep Lovato honest. Demi more of an equal opportunity destroyer. She's working as much downstairs as up, and the former's having an effect, if the grimaces on the redhead's face every time another shot to ribs or belly land are any indication. But, despite all the effort, again, neither fighter able to grab the initiative from the other. Instead, it's another two-way slugfest from the beginning to end, with damage mounting up on both fighters. Still, neither will take a backward step. It's all about will now, and neither lady is about to have hers broken. At the bell, it's close again, but, this time, the brunette has done enough to get on the board and cut Lohan's edge to 39-37.
ROUND FIVE:
This can't go on all night. There are just too many hard shots being exchanged. Now, it's not like the ladies aren't showing some solid defense. They are. But there's simply too much hard leather being thrown for a lot of it not to get through and do the damage it's designed to do. Lohan's pinking up nicely to the body, while Lovato's got a mouse above the left eye. And, still, the carnage continues with no end in sight. Then, the end comes. Suddenly. A short left hook to Lindsay's midsection sets up a vicious right uppercut to the chin and LOHAN'S HURT! Lindsay staggered, out on her feet. The guard drops and Lovato fires a brilliant one-two to the head and DOWN GOES LINDSAY! Lohan dropped flat to the canvas. Lovato throws the hands up in victory before bouncing to a neutral corner. She knows it's over. And it is. Lindsay manages to roll to her belly and get to elbows and knees, but that's it. The count passes her by, and your winner by KO5 is Demi Lovato!
AFTER:
Demi looking like she's been in the war she was in in the post fight. The left eye is swelling badly and the she's bleeding from the nose, but she's smiling all through the interview. "Look, she caught me early, and that meant this wasn't going to be easy. But, she wasn't getting me out of there. I'm too solid, too strong, too tough to go out like that. I just had to get some time to shake it off and get back into the fight. Once I did that, it was just a matter of time until she was toast."
