"Sure, it's been a while since I've been in the ring," says Brittany with a smile, "But, I'm still in my prime and I've beaten a lot of good fighters...a lot of fighters better than HER."
"Look, here's the thing," says Kristen with a nod. "She can fight. Well, so can a lot of girls. But, she can't fight as well as I can, as she's about to find out."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside, and that's..."
McCarthy: "I KNOW that one! That's 'Time of the Season' by the Zombies!"
O'Dell: "Close, that's a COVER of 'Time of the Season' by Ben Taylor, which was featured in the 2008 remake of 'Prom Night', starring the lady coming to the ring right now, Brittany Snow!"
Cassie: "But, I'm not surprised you thought it was the Zombies, Mac, as that version of the song came out when you were in high school."
O'Dell: "Snow down the aisle and into the ring..."
McCarthy: "YOU LITTLE...THAT SONG CAME OUT IN 1968!"
Tess: "I can see the smoke coming off Mac's phone...and out of her ears..."
McCarthy: "SHUT UP, WALMART!"
O'Dell (sighing): "Snow helped off with the robe to reveal a cobalt blue number and an in-shape body, and that's 'Helter Skelter' by the four lads from Liverpool you hear, and that can only mean that the FCBA's biggest Beatles fan, 'The Five-Tool Player', Kristen Stewart, is on her way to the ring!"
Cassie: "Stewart, of course, has been at the top of the Front Street flyweight pecking order for some time, but Jane Levy's beginning to crowd things up there, and K-Stew needs this one if she wants to avoid being passed up."
O'Dell: "Stewart into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that lime green bikini we're familiar with..."
McCarthy: "And, she STILL has the body of a ten-year-old boy!"
O'Dell: "Ladies about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess favors Kristen. Mac?"
McCarthy: "Snow actually HAS FCBA wins. She'll beat the Dancing Hooker!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Second consecutive split panel, and we're about to find out who's right. Snow wants to do some pressuring early. She's bouncy, just like always, wants to get physical with K-Stew. Stewart has a different idea. She wants space to box, to get that accurate left on, and follow on with rights."
Cassie: "Snow's got to get that pressure working. She can box, but, if she stands out there with Stewart, she's going to get picked apart."
O'Dell: "And, Snow knows it. She's in that compact stance, slipping forward, landing from middle distances until Stewart can restore the geometry. Snow may not have been in an FCBA ring for awhile, but there doesn't appear to be much rust. She's moving very, very well and she's as aggressive as always."
McCarthy: "Just keep this up, and Stewart will crumble. That girl is FRAGILE..."
O'Dell: "That girl is FAR from fragile, as she's proven again and again. But, she IS precise, and we're seeing some of that now. Snow not giving her much to hit, but, she's still hitting it, getting the jab home, slowing Snow and setting up the rights. Final seconds and there's the bell. Stewart in the first."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Snow dialing up the pressure now, aggressively forward, willing to eat some jabs to get there, bang away at Stewart. Kristen trying to keep the distance, but unable to do it now, and Snow taking full advantage. Brittany getting physical in there, forcing Stewart onto the defensive."
McCarthy: "See? Fragile!"
O'Dell: "Stewart doing a lot of backing and covering now, as Snow gets into rhythm and shows the stuff that allowed her to make such a big splash early in her career. Stewart tying up now, trying to slow this down, but Brittany not going to BE slowed. She's banging away, landing hard shot."
Tess: "Stewart definitely uncomfortable right now. And Snow's MAKING her that way."
O'Dell: "Final minute of the second, and this has been a great round for Snow. She's forcing K-Stew back, forcing her to cover up. Stewart scoring here and there on the counter now, but that's about it. Brittany's taken over the fight and she's going to win the second wide. There's the bell. Nice round for Snow."
Cassie: "And, we're even at 19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Snow right back to work with the pressure. Stewart now managing with the left hand and the feet. Kristen moving more, jabbing more, slowing down the older woman's pursuit. This is what she wasn't able to accomplish in the last round, but she's getting it done now, to a point at least."
McCarthy: "And, ONLY to a point, because Snow's still getting to middle distances where she can land hard shot."
O'Dell: "She is, indeed, just not as cleanly or easily as she was in the second. Result is, we're getting a two-way round here, with Stewart getting her points at range and Brittany getting hers when she can get inside that jab and thump away. Snow remaining very, very aggressive."
Cassie: "No reason why not. She's the underdog, girl who hasn't been in the ring in a long time. Has something to prove."
O'Dell: "And, she's proving it. Considering Stewart's a top twenty fighter, Snow's showing that she has the goods to compete at this level. Kristen with a solid combination, best of the fight and Snow fires back with a great flurry, forcing Stewart to cover up at the bell. Good round. Close to Snow."
Tess: "And, Brittany leads, 29-28."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Stewart STROKING with that jab to start the fourth round. She's adjusted to Snow's aggressive tactics and now beginning to make her pay for them in a big way. Brittany still trying to pressure, but she's getting caught again and again with that sharp left hand, getting stopped in her tracks..."
Cassie: "And, that's leaving her hanging where Kristen can land some hard right hands..."
O'Dell: "Like THAT one. That one got Snow's attention! Best punch of the fight so far from K-Stew, who steps in behind it and backs Snow up with another sharp flurry. Brittany quickly stabilizing the front, then again trying to work in, but Stewart just not allowing it now. She's got the geometry she wants."
Tess: "Snow just eating a lot of leather right now, Jenny."
O'Dell: "Can't keep that up for very long. Snow covering up, being completely suppressed as we head into the final twenty seconds of the fourth. Kristen in total rhythm now, and this isn't where you want K-Stew. She's got everything working together, jab landing, setting up the right, in total control from the first seconds to the bell. Stewart. Wide."
McCarthy: "But, we're still tied at 38."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Snow keeping the gloves up and the head tucked as we start the fifth. Adjusting to try to find a way past Kristen's jab. And, it's working to a point. She's able to slip and block enough to get some pressure started again. Snow closing tight now, banging body. Kristen banging right back in there..."
Cassie: "This is something K-Stew learned from fights against girls like Hayek. She's a tall fly and girls will want to get in and get physical. You have to respond in kind, punch for some respect."
O'Dell: "And, that's what Stewart's doing. We've gone from range in the last round to a phone booth in this one, with both fighters digging body and throwing short hooks and uppies to the head. GOOD right hand there from Snow and Stewart responds with one of her own!"
McCarthy: "Nobody taking a step back right now. This is all about imposing will."
O'Dell: "And, neither fighter can do it. Both thumping away, holding their ground. Nasty body work going on in there. Some really short, sharp shots to the ribs and midsection. Both girls starting to pink up from the constant leather. Nice right to the head from Stewart and a response from Snow that sent sweat flying at the bell! Close. Brittany."
Tess: "And, Snow back on top, 48-47 at the half."
ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: "Snow again working forward with the gloves high, bobbing, weaving. Stewart landing that left, splitting the gloves with it, slowing Brittany, landing those hard right hands again. Snow getting bogged down like she did in the fourth, as K-Stew adjusts to the new tactics."
Tess: "And Kristen committing on some punches now. She's landed a couple of hard rights."
O'Dell: "And there's ANOTHER one. Stewart getting ranged in on Snow and Brittany beginning to feel the effects. She's backed up by a solid combination. Stewart stepping forward to land another. Kristen a HARD right hand and that forces Brittany to cover up. Snow getting backed up consistently for the first time."
McCarthy: "She's got to get her feet set. Can't beat this girl in reverse."
O'Dell: "But, that's where she finds herself at the moment. Efforts to stabilize the front failing this time, as Stewart's walking forward, taking canvas, forcing Snow to take a ton of leather. Final ten seconds of the round. Another hard combination from Kristen and there's the bell. Stewart wide."
Cassie: "And, we're even at 57."
ROUND SEVEN:
O'Dell: "Seventh starts the way the sixth ended, with Stewart coming forward behind that accurate left jab. Snow trying to angle some, get off square, get some relief from the left hand, which seems to be constantly in her face. Brittany trying to find spots to counter, looking to land something sharp that way."
McCarthy: "Might be what she needs to do. Land a couple of big rights and that will slow Stewart down."
O'Dell: "Right now, not much else is working. We've seen a total 180 here, from Snow applying pressure to K-Stew doing it. Good combination there from Stewart. Right hand in there snapped back Snow's head. Brittany covering up. Kristen letting the hands go and SNOW'S HURT AND DOWN SHE GOES! A brutal flurry from Stewart and Brittany puddles in at her feet!"
Tess: "No one punch did that. It was the combination, but there was a left hook in there that was NASTY!"
O'Dell: "Kristen to a neutral corner. Brittany down on her belly on the canvas. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Snow rolling to her back at seven. Drapes an arm over the eyes at eight. Nine. TEN! It's over! Snow can't get off the deck and it's OVER! And your winner by KO7 is 'The Five-Tool Player', Kristen Stewart!"
Cassie: "Definitely some nice work by K-Stew, who looks like she's going to stay at the top of the Front Street flyweight pecking order."
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Kristen Stewart, and, K-Stew, this girl apparently still has it."
Kristen (nodding): "Never had any doubt of it. She got quite the reputation early in her career. She never got management or steady work, but that doesn't change the fact that she has plenty of talent."
Tess: "You made some adjustments, though. Took over the fight."
Kristen (nodding): "That's what you have to do, and I'm good at it. I can do a lot of things in there, so, if something isn't working against a particular girl, I have other arrows in the quiver. Sooner or later, one of them will get you.
